  1. TBH we are better off tanking 1 more year. Then go all in the year after and go for the cup. TB gets the 2021 draft pick, we get Lord Stanley... Miller can put up 50+ points if with Horvat / Petey, his cap hit is cheap.

Also the 2021 pick realistically wont play until 2022 or 2023, so by then we should have it together....

Name one team that’s gone from lottery pick to cup final the next year

I've been on 'team tank' for the last few seasons but I think we are now past that stage. We need to push for playoffs... responsibly. From an organizational stand point, the best case scenario is winning the lottery but just missing playoffs next year by a point or two.

Add LaFreniere to our core, or trade the 1st oa pick (yes im really stretching here assuming we get 1OA)  for instant help, Top 4dmen, depth/ grit. we can become contenders

  2. Anything over 2 years and 5 mill is a no from me. No Clauses either.
  3. A part of me is down if Boeser signs a bridge deal for 2 years at 6.5-7 million. It will allow us to see if he can stay healthy. The scary part is if he stays healthy, and the Pettersson chemistry allows him to get a 35 to 40 goal season plus get 65-80 points. Then he holds the bargaining chip and could get 8 to 10 mill .
  4. Offer sheet for Kapanen at 4 Million , so we pay a 2nd. Or call up Dubas direct and offer a 2nd round pick and a Dman/ 3 rd pick to sweeten the deal for em
  5. Only deal I consider with Boeser is a swap with Toronto for Mitch Marner. Marner will be paid more and tbh if we were to swap each other rights, we get a better player for more $ (We can afford it), TO signs Boeser for less but in their range available. We however add 2nd round pick/ eat Marleau's contract, and pieces.
  6. Marleau + Kapanen for our 2020 rnd pick , plus a conditional dependent on Kapanens performance? Offer sheet Johanssen for 4 million. We keep Kapanen and Johanssen, flip Marleau at the deadline for a 2nd pick and boom ,we steal 2 players for cheap. With Toronto's big 5 they are screwed anyways for cap. Why not get our depth for cheap. Sign Panarin for 7 years x 9 million. Panarin - Pettersson - Boeser Marleau- Horvat - Kapanen Johansson - Sutter/ Gaudette - Virtanen. By the time we get in cap troubles , Ericksson / Beagle/ Sutter/ Edler (if he resigns) are all of the books.
  7. First of all, I was waiting for this thread to come after the previous one. Boeser ain't going no where and neither is our 10th OA pick unless it is moved up or down or for an established young player already. If we go Boldy/ Caufield it allows us to have a top lw and rw prospect. If we go Soderstorm/ broberg/ any dman prospect. thats a top 4 dman prospect we didn't have before. Boeser gets signed 7years x 7 million or 8 x 8. somewhere in that ballpark.
  8. Maybe they are waiting to make a news splash the day of draft day.
  9. As per @ hockeyrockbeer on twitter - Elliotte Friedman says 4 teams (Sharks, Lightning, Rangers, and Canucks) are front runners for signing Karlsson

DeMarcus Cousins will be active for game 1.

Also have a feeling we will see Durant back for game 5...

  10. Nylander if 1 for 1.... I can say mcdavid, subban, etc. but lets be realistic. Nylander 1 for 1 with the 10th oa, maybe ship Tanev the other way or Leivo.
  11. Assume the Canucks had 1OA and it was a player of Hughes stature but not Hughes (removing the brother bias).... Would you be willing to trade down to #2 or #3 for additional assets?

No matter at 1, 2, or 3, you are guaranteed a top centre, top winger, top 2 Dman

If we were stacked with elite at C already, sure why not?

    2. King Heffy

Depends on how big the drop in talent was.  I'd be a lot more willing to drop to 2 as opposed to 3 as I think Kakko has a good chance of being a better player in the NHL.  Price would be the next year's 1st or equivalent.

Keep in mind I am very, very high on Woo and OJ.

    3. goalie13

      goalie13

I don't think there's enough difference between Hughes and Kakko that the Rangers would be willing to trade anything to move up one spot.  There's a little bit of a gap to the third pick, but I think Chicago will be content to stay where they are.

So I am not saying that I wouldn't be willing to trade down, but more that I can't see either the Rangers or the Blackhawks offering anything to trade up.

  12. tbh with his speed he may be one of my dark horses for next years yahooo draft... he may see time with McDavid
  13. What do you mean there is an extended wait time ticketmaster

    1. brilac

      brilac

Yeah, I was stuck on that extended wait, but I got in and scored what I wanted!

lucky. i was looking for 6 tickets . between myself and 2 friends. neither of us got in.

  14. As much as I would love to draft 1st or 2nd, its cheaper to go after #3.  We have one thing most teams don't. Cap relief and a top 10 pick that can go the other way.

If Kappo is at #3 great, if Hughes is there are at 3 great, but it will probably be Byram and its a homerun for us no matter what.

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Cap relief and a 10th overall will NOT get you a #3 pick.

Chicago will find a buyer, even if the return is lousy on either Keith or Seabrook.

Why would you trade your 3rd overall when you can draft Byram or any player at an entry level deal?

  15. ^ If we were in the same cap crunch yes, but we aren't ... We have cap space to make this work and get a solid top 2 dman prospect. Now we may have to add as we aren't moving up to the top 15, but the top 3
  16. Makes sense tho. The more cap saved from huge contracts, the more cap available for depth With the exception of Pettersson and Hughes no one atm will make north of 8 million (assuming they show all star performance). Save our cap where we can, luckily soon Edler, Ericksson and Sutter's cap will be gone.
  17. Gaudette and our 1st rd pick for Seabrook and #3 OA
  18. My offer! Offer sheet Kapanen and Johannsen. What do we pay 2 2nd round picks. offer sheet 4 million for both.
  19. First of all there is talks of Marky getting injured in warmup? or practice Second of all, one good season is does not mean crazy money or term. Right now its 2 to 3 years, ranging from 2.5 to 4 million, no clauses
  20. offer both 4 mil a piece for 4 years. 2 round compensation. we dont bite ourselves in the ass but still keep our 1st rder
  21. Other then McDavid there would be no one and he is not an RFA. One player doesnt make you a winner and I believe 4 1st round picks are better then 1. Only team that can afford 4 1st round picks is a great team that has a deep prospect pool and also has the cap space. I'd rather 4 players at the Boeser/ Hughes/ level rather then 1 generational player.
  22. Going into next year I believe the Leafs will be in a cap crunch and won't be able to sign everyone to their liking. With that said I believe we do 2 things that involve the leafs. One of them is not offer sheeting for Marner. As great as he is we would have to realistically surrender 4 1st round picks. 1) Steal- offer sheet Kapanen to a 4 million x 4 year contract. I believe like Leivo, his potential is still untapped and with that offer sheet to Kapanen if he does decide to move West we would have to surrender only a 2nd round pick. He has shown good promise as a RW and may fit nicely along along Bo Horvat. 2) Trade for Nazem Kadri. Yes he is going into a suspension and may not look the best around the league currently. However, he is signed to a decent contract for the remainder at 4.5 million. His value is lower then it has been the previous 2 years due to reduced playing role as he has been buried on the leafs contract. Only down side is he is already 28 currently. What gets it done if we decide to? Tanev + a 2nd round pick?
  23. Maybe we trade our pick, sutter, lind for draisatl
  24. Target a right Dman Sign Panarin. Pearson has been great but he isnt a 1LW. Offer sheet Kapanen around 4 million (2nd round pick). Or trade for him
