Makar easily but I would argue its still very early in their careers. If petey, who's point trajectory is well beyond Henrik, and aligned with Bure continues to develop as he has, it might be alot tougher of a decision in a few years.

Today, Makar, but I will be curious how all answer in a few years....I'm not sold on the idea that we know what Petey's upside is, I don't think even he knows yet. What I do know, is he has all the tools to be much more dominant that he's been and just needs to add some weight.

Hate to say it but Makar though would need to reconsider drafting Q then.

I love Petey to death, but it's Makar easily. Hopefully Petey can make that conversation interesting at some point.

  2. Need to move Myers and find a top pairing partner for Hughes so Schenn can play w/ OEL
  3. Canucks move Miller as discussed to NYR/ Vegas allowing us to re stock our draft pool/ gain picks in the Top 3 rounds and ultimately improve our Right side of defence. Boeser is signed to a cheaper deal, less then his 7.2 M offer for 3 to 4 year period as a show us deal once again. We would take the $ saved on possibly Millers contract being moved out and go after Filip Forsberg from the Predators as he is a UFA. Preds can easily re sign him, but we offer him 7.5M x 6 years and a chance to play with his fellow Sweden teammates in Petey, Hoglander, OEL. Giving us a legit LW that we have been lacking. Kuzmenko enters as a mid LW for us playing with Horvat or our future 3C. --- Now Toronto you may ask, another season failed.... They only have 2.9M next year in cap space- in which Campbell needs a raise. This leaves 2 defensive prospects in Sandin and Liljegren at risk of an offer sheet. We can either trade for them both or offer sheet. Only downside is we lack a 2nd rd pick this year, probably prohibiting us to make an offer sheet for Liljegrin as he would command 2.5 to 3.5 M and Sandin near 1.25M Regardless this allows us to improve our lack of defence depth at a low cost and gets us 2 young dmen we need in our organization. Potentially we can move Myers at this point and go after a partner for Hughes and allow for a 2nd Pairing of OEL Schenn
  4. Forsberg is coming off a 6M deal and would be a nice UFA target...

Trade Miller for assets / RHD , prospects and sign Forsberg for 8M x 6 year?

  5. How about we trade our 1st rd, boeser, Miller for the Hughes Bros and their 1st
  6. Kind of want a Colorado and Florida final- would love to see certain players from both teams win a cup. Plus it would be a high scoring finals possibly. Would like to see a Battle of Alberta in R2
  7. With us being out of the playoffs, what are your 3 biggest components the Canucks must work on to be a playoff team, NOT a wild card team. 1) Penalty Kill --- we were one of the best 5 on 5 teams this year and Demko was a huge factor in that. With Richardson and potentially Sutter Back next year, will our teams PK be better next year. If it wasn't for our penalty kill I legit think we would have won some games we lost, and salvaged a few extra points into a wild card or 3rd spot in the Pacific this year. Is giving the likes of Podkolzin and Petey PK time a true answer. 2) Moving Myers Myers has been a much different player with Boudreau compared to Green with a much better +/- , However at times I question wth is he doing and looks like an idiot during certain plays. He and OEL aren't worth their combined salary, but moving Myers gives us some financial freedom. The biggest task is finding his replacement. Hughes- Schenn --- this pairing works for now, since the 2 have the best chemistry. Ideally Schenn plays with OEL next year, and our 3rd pairing is Rathbone and Dermott ? We need a true 1RD that can score potentially 30 points, but stick up for Hughes and be a defensive defenceman that can shut down top line players. 3) A 1LW No offence to any of our top boys, but right now I see the following next year based on Chemistry Pearson Miller Boeser ____ Horvat Hoglander Podkolzin Petey Garland Our LW depth sucks assuming we roll 3 offensive lines. Pearson gets the look with Miller due to him performing better with Miller then Horvat imo. We lack a star LW in our organization and yes we have 3- 30 goal scorers, but no superstar goal scorer yet. Don't get me wrong I'm sure Petey will eclipse 40 at one point and hope Boeser will one day too. Now I know this gets beaten down every time, but if it wasn't for Evander Kane in Edmonton, EDM would not be 2nd in the Pacific. He played a huge component in their rise in the last 20 games since they signed him. Evander Kane at a 5 million year contract x 2 would be amazing for us and this team physically too. -- Anyways, give me your top 3 moves we must do. I know for the PK I didn't really target a player in the league, but is there a defence-man or bottom 6 forward you feel we need to bring in for that hole in our game our do we have the people on our team already
  8. Pearson Miller Boeser Podkolzin Petey Garland Chiasson Horvat Hoglander Ideally Chiasson is on 4th line and we find a good 3LW
  9. Hughes - Schenn OEL - Myers Rathbone- Dermott Livingstone can be our 7th ? Dermott can play both sides
  10. Sid the Not so much of Kid hits 1400 career NHL points

      -AJ-

Such a legendary player. I wonder how high he'll go. Can he reach 1600? 1700? Even more? Played so much hockey in the low offense era of the late 2000s and early 2010s and still has such impressive numbers.

    2. PunjabiCanucks

      PunjabiCanucks

@-AJ- If it wasn't for concussion issues I'd say he'd have 1500 already. I'd say he has 3 to 4 more seasons assuming he is healthy. But let's be honest if he's healthy he will play until 40 and put up 0.5ppg+ a season towards the end of his career.

Him and Ovi need to do a retirement tour. I want to be at Rogers Arena for his last game here.

  11. Do you take on Dadanov's contract if we don't make the playoffs and Vegas does so? Trade Dickinson back in the trade, Ferland LTIR.

I'd rather we make the playoffs and Vegas be a laughing joke

Yeah, we might be on his list of teams that he doesn’t want to go to unfortunately. And he’s over 30 isn’t he? Doesn’t fit the age group where JR says he wants to get younger.

There's no cap in the playoffs they have no need.

      Ballisticsports.

I can't afford to take on his contract:rolleyes:

  12. Pearson Miller Boeser Hoglander Horvat Garland Podkolzin Pettersson ____ Pearson shouldnt be in that line up as a 1LW- he is as he has worked better then with Horvat imo Need a legit 1LW who can shoot ! need a 40G scorer on this team Hughes ___ OEL - Myers Rathbone Schenn --- We need a top pairing RD Ideally replace our overpaid second pairing
  13. I am excited, but im just worried to be let down again. These poor 1st period starts have made me lower my expectations this season. Demko was stealing games prior and we can't rely on that 82 games a season. - We need depth scoring , better defence, and a good back up. - We need a solid offseason, Petey and Hoglander need to show their skill ! Hoglander was so hyped with his dekeing and lacrosse goals Podkolzin needs to be our X factor and not be afraid to lay someone out if their path collides
  14. Are they allowed / able to send him down now- may aswell get him used to the team and make him feel comfortable and get top 6 minutes
  15. We need a dynamic 1LW Horvat Boeser Petey Miller are all great to have up front - but they arent consistent for some times. Miller and Horvat have scored the majority of the goals. Podkolzin and Hoglander should continue to grow. Pearson can hopefully sustain his production. -- Other then Hughes our defence sucks. OEL is good but overpaid, Myers has his blunders- the duo is overpaid. -- Demko should be elite and hopefully a Vezina level goalie for us, our back up next year needs to be able to play atleast 25 games and win more then .550 - Dickinson, Poolman have been mistakes sorry
  16. Not to be that guy, and I wish it wasn't true. We are technically eliminated from playoffs....

We need to play .857 Hockey in our last 14 games

    need 24 of 28 points...

12-2-0 is not going to happen

10-4-0 can get us in as long as Dallas play around or just under .500 and we take care of Vegas. They've looked vulnerable lately and have some tough opponents on the road, you never know...

  17. Should the NHL implement a max cap hit for the layoffs

They can't do that unilaterally.  It's built into the CBA.  Besides, I didn't see any of us complaining when the Canucks manipulated LTIR in 2011.

    3. Curmudgeon

      Curmudgeon

Players are not paid in the playoffs. Their last paycheques come at the end of the regular season.

    4. Fanuck

      Fanuck

Cap limit in PO isn't the answer,  it's widely speculated that the NHL is aware that some teams are 'manipulating' LTIR and are actively investigating ways to address this concern,  understanding that the owners/players themselves would be the ones to ratify any CBA changes. One proposed CBA change is that any player not activated during the regular season at least 'x' amount of time before the last regular season game automatically becomes ineligible for the 1st round of PO.  If this or some iteration of this idea was accepted it might help, but still won't solve the LTIR issue totally.

  18. Only a few players i would trade Demko for McDavid Draistatl MacKinnon Huberdeau otherwise we are keeping Demko for aslong as we ever can
  19. Kadri will be the template for Millers Extension. Both similar in age and points.

Not really.  Kadri is 3 years older and having a career year.  Miller has been a point a game guy going on 3 years now.

IMHO, best comparable to JT Miller is Blake Wheeler.  Contract for Miller prorated to reflect timing of signing.

Pretty sure he was top 10 in norris voting last year, Won't happen lol

  21. For fun: Based on the last 20 games winning percentage Calgary (.775) Dallas (.675) Oilers and Kings (.650) Canucks (.625) Vegas (.525) Nashville (.500) Ducks (.450) - I know things change, but based on the last 20 games Vegas and Nashville continue to trend down. Dallas is moving up and and to be honest I don't see them falling out of the WC 1 spot or the playoffs all together. - Assuming Vegas and Nashville continue to tank, Ducks are falling off hard as well --- We could sneak into the WC 2 position. Based on the Last 10 and 30 Games, Canucks have one of the best Pts percentage in the Pacific if not west. - It will be close... may unfortunately come down to the wire and potentially we don't know if we are sellers until a week prior to the deadline
  22. 2023-2024 ____ Miller (8M) - Boeser (7.5M) Hoglander (4M) - Petey (7.4) - Garland (5M) Pearson (3.3) - Horvat (6.5) - Podkolzin (925K) Assuming Klimovich, Karlsson slot in at a point.... Also hope we get a true 1LW in a draft or trade come time. Pearson should be gone. Im not going to include Dickinson as I dont see him as a part of our team in 2 years. That is 42.7 M in 8 players above Add 26.11 M for OEL, Hughes, Myers (who I hope is gone in 2 years time), and Demko 68.81 Million in 12 players listed above --- We need a LW, 4th line, 3 more dmen, and a back up.... 4TH line (3M), Back up (1.5M) -- 73.3 Million- we still need 3 more dmen, and a LW as per my calculations Salary cap is 81.5M , meaning we got 8.2 Million for 3 dmen , who we hope 1 is a top end RD, a LW who can play w/ Miller and Boeser, and a bottom pairing dmen (3M) 5.2 Million left for a #1RD, and a #1 LW --- HOPEFULLY we can get some beauty ELC in the next 2 years.
