  1. Right, not much different than the last 2 years. I hope they go for the kid in Quebec, Lafrenière in 2020. So far he looks like he will be up there with the big superstars and he is only just 16.
  2. You should italicize it though just so it doesn't look like it was part of the copy written article. The connect with OJ's June 11th surgery is uncanny as well, the time line and quote from Benning. Benning said the recovery from surgery should be four-to-six weeks. “It’s a setback but not a serious one,” Benning said. “It’s not a complicated procedure. He’ll lose some summer training time but should be working out in four-to-six weeks. He’ll still have time to get to get ready for next season. We don’t expect this to be an issue (at training camp).” So it sounds like he should be 100% for training camp.
  3. Well even though the subject of the thread is ridiculous lets try to get back on topic. There is, at this time, no comparison between the two players in the NHL. IMO Hughes requires the Canucks play him with a player that is physical, can clear the front of the net or win the board battles. All the talk is about when he/they have the puck, but which player can get the puck easier? Physically, Dahlin is larger and stronger. Dahlin played in a profession league and players playing for contracts, Hughes played in what is essentially a development league. Dahlin is compared to the very best dmen over the last 20 years in the NHL. Hughes doesn't really have a cotemporary. Height - with the tenancy of teams to inflate to the next inch - Dahlin 6'2", Hughes - 5' 9" Weight - Dahlin - 185 lbs, lean for his height Hughes - 170 lbs - should look ripped with "guns" Remember when posters were putting Julievi on the pedestal as the next one, next year, then next year, then the next year, then ….
  4. Is this back injury going to be used as another reason he can't make the team? Boeser's back injury was much more serious and he is back playing within 13 weeks, he lost weeks of training time. If OJ's surgery is used as a reason he doesn't achieve the potential management thought, then what about Boeser's back? IMO, any back injury will have long term and increasing ramifications, I would not be upset if the Nucks traded both players, the return for Boeser would be exceptional, maybe a couple #1's, his value could be the highest it will be, even with the injury it might be 4 or 5 years before the effects really start to be seen. OJ's value drops every time a defenceman drafted after him plays in the NHL. Judging by the number of dmen the Canucks are signing in Utica, they are expecting even more of a hole. Will they send OJ to Utica or send him back to play with 15 and over40 year olds?
  5. The Canucks start off the season like they are shot out of cannon. In the beginning, the first 35 games; The PP is on fire, Boeser and Horvat on the first unit improve PP goals. Beagle shows some unexpected scoring skills Edler shines in this his contract year Eriksson plays with Pettersson and improves his numbers due high level passes The D relies heavily on Tanev and Edler in their own zone. Stecher steps up and scores more often The team is challenging for the top until November 20th, By December 1 they are either in a playoff spot or close but only by 4 points.
  6. True, I let the accusation that I was being negative get me off center. I know I was just putting possibilities out there that are counter to what was stated by management at first and then amended at Benning's signing. Ever since Vesey it is a possibility, after that comes why would he do it? He is probably a 3rd line center, good depth and skilled for playoffs, he will make the team if he wants. Again it could be taken negatively but the Seattle expansion and the CBA. One could affect the other. Bettman has a 100% record of a labour dispute and this time around the NHLPA appears to have more leadership and grievances. The CBA ends or we will know in September 2019 for the 2020 season. I don't think there would be expansion if there is a labour problem, I think it would be the following year which would affect the Canucks massively with regards to protecting players if numerous of them start next year.
  7. What if the expansion draft isn't until 2021/22? There could be a labour problem in 2020/21.
  8. Didn't I post I don't rely on forums for information? Someone has to balance out the pro posters side with at least something other than fantasy thoughts. Just look at what started this whole string of negativity, I posted some facts and a possibility, I didn't even go into depth with regards to what I posted. But the one poster is so unsure of his position he had to find negativity in the posts. I, at no time, stated I thought he would not sign here. It is just insecurity of the pro posters. Apparently it is being negative to post rules or opinions to some of the far right people.
  9. What incorrect stats? I make every effort to insure that what I post is something from a quote or actions. I don't rely on "forums" for information, if something looks interesting I try to research it. Linden and Benning said they thought this was a playoff team 3 years ago, I didn't think so, I thought the Sedins should have been traded 3/4 years ago, I even posted numerous quotes of theirs indicating that they expected it, understood it was part of hockey and that their ultimate goal was a cup. Daniel just stated a cup, later Henrik said with the Canucks. Your opinion of negativity is not balanced with speculation or other possibilities. Even in my original post you searched for negativity. I don't have "blind faith", I am not a fanatic. I don't expect the Canucks to get the first overall draft pick, I would like it but there is no guarantee.
  10. Can Gaudette even go to Utica? Isn't there a roster freeze? Oh, sorry to be negative.
  11. Benning is perfect. Happy? His contract negotiations are outstanding. He never makes a mistake. He should have a life time contract. The team is only one year from a Stanley cup. Anything that isn't in your world is negative,
  12. The HF boards have thousands of posters there, closer to 7 to 1 posters here. What are here today? 20? They have 354 right now. Guess who is on the majority? Maybe there should be a forum for just the cheerleaders?
  13. Is there a single untruth there? Those are pertinent only because he turned down over a $100,000.00 scholarship to play close to home and his favourite team was Boston. Man you take anything not RAH, RAH so negatively. All I did was essentially state existing rules. I haven't heard that yet. Looking around.
  14. I am waiting to see what he does too, I just posted other possibilities not guarantee's. Will it be a one way contract? Will it have a large salary for Utica? Will it be a max contract with bonuses? Sooo negative to wonder.
  15. I see you didn't actually read the previous posts, hardly back pedaling when stated before your accusations.
  16. So I posted a possibility and quotes. I guess I should have posted, he is signing here immediately and leading the team to the cup, his presence will lead the team over the funk and they will win all the games he plays in the remainder of the season. The rebuild is done once Gaudette signs guaranteed, no doubt about it, he will be here in 24 hours. He is the next Kesler. He is a guaranteed 2nd liner. He will win almost all his faceoffs. Judd Brakett doesn't know what he is talking about. Benning doesn't know what he is talking about, both have stated some doubt about him signing for this year, but they are stupid, Gaudette is coming for sure. How is that, cheer leader enough? Would hate to speculate that there could be other options for him based on his past attitudes and actions.
  17. Me? Okay how about the Canucks? (Gaudette’s) very excited about beginning a pro career. I think that’s a safe bet, but yo know, other things have happened before. – Judd Brackett I would say that is not a guarantee. He is likely to come but after Vesey, anything can happen.
  18. Yes he has stated that about loyalty. But he did turn down a full scholarship to play close to home. Maybe his people try to talk the Nucks into a trade. It would probably be delayed until draft day as it would be bad news now. Then again he might not mind going to Utica, it is closer. At anyway right now he will be emotionally drained.
  19. I thought Linden/Benning said he was coming? Or did they change what they said again? One more year and he is a FA and can sign with Boston, almost his home town and a cup contender that has their farm team 34 miles away. 20 miles away from home.
  20. I never said it wasn't, I didn't even hint it wasn't, I simply commented upon him and his coaches saying he might not come this year and what the ramifications of that will mean, not what he will do, or think or what I think. But the group of 12 decided to put words to my post that I didn't post. They must be worried. Those act like children playing hide and seek who put their hands over their eyes and say "you can't see me now".
  21. Reading JUST the one tweet is cherry picking. Your blindness or stubbornness to read a whole segment and ignore parts is more picking what you want rather than me just pointing out he missed parts. Did you hear the interview? the conviction in the voice when talking about the bean pot and final four?
  22. Why? Because the interview was cropped to one segment and I looked at the whole thing? How do you misinterpret "I don't know when"? And if it is at the end of next the college year he is a FA and his agent may have something to say. Linden and Benning are nice guys they might decide not to push the envelope, they have certainly taken players thoughts into account during their reign.
  23. Here you can see where my post came from. It is the order of the interview and the other comments, his loyalty may keep him there and his agent might work to get him with a better team (Vesey) if he plays out next year.
