This thread, it to track progress in hopes Higgins can resurrect his career. I can see his stats with Utica so far after his second game : 0 goals, 1 assist , 3 shots, -3 +/- . If you have positive news or you watch the Comets play feel free to share any information you have on Chris Higgins.

When you take last season into consideration, when certain players on this team chose not to act like professionals but act like overpaid crybabies that tried to get their coach fired because they didn't want to work hard, their were some bright spots . Richardson?Santorelli, Booth, Kassian, Lack, Tannev , Sestigo, Bieksa, Laine. ( a couple more but you get the point) When torts was embarrassed Booth was the best player on the team , Booth continued to play strong. It's hard for me to be a Sedin fan after last season.

Great to have someone in charge who actually played and sat in the locker room with the core of this team. He knows the team . I think it will help get to the base of the problem and get things righted. My opinion is the Sedins and Edler and their attitude towards Torterella has a lot to do with it, especially after that Calgary game. The tougher players on the team like Kassian , Richardson, Bieksa , sestito , Booth, Kesler, and Higgins, all bought in and played well. They were willing to hit, dump, block shots, and kill penalties. Others felt mistreated for being asked to play that way because they are "skill players" . A team divided like that doesn't get far. Only my opinion.

On the long shot the Canucks made it St. Louis could be a first round opponent which is very favourable for us. It's all California after that , Colorado will be swept by whoever and Chicago could be waiting as well.

Jim Sandlak or Cam Neely he's not there yet . His play shows huge potential but inconstant . Have to keep him for at least 2 more years but I think he's another Jim Sandlak so far

There really is nothing worse than being that team that just misses the playoffs by a point or two. You never get a great draft pick and never get better. Take a chance and go after a top Russian , roll the dice, you never know. Better than becoming the next Atlanta/ Winnipeg jets?

It seems our core 1st line and top 3 D are the most useless people on the team right now probably because they want the coach gone so why not throw some youth and enthusiasm in there?

Can't for the life of me understand that if in fact we are standing pat and trying to make the playoffs, why not at the very least get a winger who is a roster player just to fill the holes of Daniel and Santorelli? It wouldn't have cost anymore than we got for Diaz. We got worse !

If I were in Lou's shoes I wouldn't stop another puck unless it hit me in the arse. Get a buyout and resurface with a different team next year : aka Bryzgalof. It's getting to that point that we all know he's not going to play 7 more years on that contract in Vancouver.

Gillis has publicly stated what this team needs to compete with the bigger faster teams , yet has done nothing to address it. If only Sestito could pot 50 goals we would be set! (Don't get me wrong I'm a big Sestito fan) Guess we will just have to settle for some overpaid undersized plugs here and there. And no,a bargain Santorelli even though playing the greatest hockey of his career prior to injury, is not our road to a cup.
