  1. It was bad but wasn't even the worst free agent signing of 2016. 2 Kyle Okposo – RW Islanders Sabres 7 yrs, $42M ($6.0M AAV) 3 Loui Eriksson – RW Bruins Canucks 6 yrs, $36M ($6.0M AAV) 4 Milan Lucic – LW Kings Oilers 7 yrs, $42M ($6.0M AAV) 5 David Backes – C Blues Bruins 5 yrs, $30M ($6.0M AAV) 6 Andrew Ladd – LW Blackhawks Islanders 7 yrs, $38.5M ($5.5M AAV)
  2. You might not like Myers. But that is just a meh contract. And that was proven by Gudbranson. You'd think Gudbranson wasn't even good enough for the KHL by the time fans like you were done with him. And yet he signed another 4 million per year contract in the NHL.
  3. Without it , the Canucks wouldn't have a single bad contract at the end of his tenure. But hey , worst GM in history.
  4. So far what I've gathered from this post is that even if he didn't do the OEL trade , some ppl would probably say the same thing about him. His mid players for mid money with mid results = worst GM in history
  5. Waste of space post. There seems to be a fair amount of low information fans who actually think this. There's a GM who gave Scott Gomez his contract AND a GM who traded FOR his contract. But hey , Loui Erricson bruh ! All 6 years of him.
  6. Benning being a 3.2 makes Peter Chiarelli and Jason Botterill 1's I am assuming. My point is, he's 1 tier. Which makes this idea that he's one of the worst in history utter tripe.
  7. The post says excluding OEL. Not Erricson. If you think OEL and Ericsson is like hitting a pedestrian and school bus then what is the Logan Couture and Vlasic deals in SJ ?
  8. It would probably be : Loui Eriksson! And the same ppl would say that is why he is one of the worst GM's in league history. Even though it wasn't a max deal, Benning signed no max deals. And he probably took less to play with the Sedins. I think without the OEL trade, Bennings legacy should be a fair bit better. But I don't think it would be. People were tired of him and just wanted to lynch him. The average NHL GM's body of work is fairly bad. I think Benning was average. But without OEL, no max deals and drafting Petterson, Hughs, Podz, Hogs, Demko and Silovs, I'd say his legacy would be a little above average. if 5/10 is average, I'd say he was 5/10 without the OEL trade. Does that make me an official Benning apologist card carrying member ? I dont know.
  9. No thanks. Nothing is worse than hyped New Jersey Devils going into free agency. Scott Gomez David Clarkson Zac Parise And a defensman that I can't think of
  10. Columbus was born cursed and is a have-not franchise. They will crash and burn again. And then lose out to the Boston Bruins on Celebrini or something.
  11. How does BabCOCK get a job before Guy Boucher does ? At least go with a more modernized hardass instead of an ancient one. Boucher was hired by Yzerman. And he went to a final with him. Everyone thinks Yzerman is the goat GM and yet they don't consider Boucher. Wtf
  12. Remember how Beauvillier out scored 8.5 million dollar Horvat down the stretch? Ah yes. He played with Petey. So what ? There are plenty of tweeners out there who couldn't be thrown on a top line and produce like a top line player. He has one year left and has no NTC. He ain't a cap dump. But the win-now desperados who think every other teams mid players are better than their own will paint a picture that he is.
  13. If we are competing next year then I don't see us trading Miller. Unless it is a hockey trade overpay. We aren't likely to get a ppg roster player for Miller. So why trade him ?
  14. Its possible. Why does the management want to go here ? Just pick someone else
  15. A lot of ppl just don't like Dubas because he is a young hotshot. They just wanted to see him fail.
  16. Yep. And if you aren't in , you aren't in. Just ask Mike Gillis. Like him or hate him , he wasn't part of the in group and that's why he never got another job.
  17. Signing a player like Tkachuk to a 2 year deal while having the worst Boomer coach in the game was a recipe for the disaster that cost him his job. Plus the fact that they got much older with the Tkachuk trade was really stupid. Treliving was the safest most vanilla signing they could make
  18. Loungo played 47 NHL games as a 21 year old. Ilya Samsonov got 26 NHL games as a 22 year old. If you have goalies that are legit talents and not just long shots, they should be in earlier than 23 and 24. They are cooking for a couple years longer than they should be. It feels like yesterday that the Demko era began and he's 27 years old already.
  19. I don't know the players involved in these trade proposals. But I like the idea. Whenever you are making a proposal , imagine you are posting it in the HF Board page of the trading team. Would you get laughed out of the joint or not ? If not then you have a serious offer. If you can get just one opposing fan to agree with your trade , then you have a serious offer. Not to over inflate my own tires , but I did that with the Cody Glass/11th oa proposal.
  20. Why not. Talent is talent. Both Schneider and Demko spent too much time developing in the minors. Before we knew it , they were too close to 30. Why make the same mistake yet again.
