How tone deaf is the old boys club? It is just mind numbing to hear some of the names that they are interviewing. A Twitter poll would give the Leafs better direction right now. Peter Chiarelli ? No! 80+% on a Twitter poll would say he doesn't deserve another GM job. He showed too much incompetence at his Oilers stop. And was fired for it. Jason Boterielli. No! Same as above.

The buyout nonsense was peddled by the hockey insiders too. After the buyout costs are factored in, you still have to pay someone to fill the roster spot. It never made sense. But he is a Benning guy and not an Alvin guy like Bouvilleir is. And to a lesser extent Brock is. So Garlund will be the one on the outs. I just think a buyout is ridiculous.

Glass had a breakout year last year. His 850k 1 year deal is expiring. He will probably sign a $2.3 million 2-3 year bridge deal. We are going all in anyway. I don't think you can get much better of a player for the #11 pick than this. Preds fans project him as their #2 C next year with #1 C upside in the future. I think he is a better player than Laffrenier now Here's a Preds fans reaction I probably would. I don't think most Preds fans would. But I'm also pretty sure that Trotz wouldn't... our centers are Glass, Parssinen, Novak, and Sissons (and maybe Johansen). That's not exactly an area of proven strength to deal from. 11th is really close and I feel like we'd have an excellent chance of getting a player who turns out to be better than Glass with that pick. Just... that player wouldn't play for us until several years from now. Whereas I suspect the Preds would prefer the more immediate contribution of Glass. But it's close! Glass was pretty unreal down the stretch for us, no interest in moving him. He's very likely going to be starting as the 1C next year.

Maybe we could trade this pick for Cody Glass...? -
Hellebuyck watch. Edm or Tor ? Or Chicago ?

Common man. You can argue Marner is overpaid. But he's a 30 goal scoring 99 point guy. Legit top line player. 26 years old. He will get you into the playoffs Imagine watching him and Petterson play. -
[Report] Flames name Craig Conroy as GM
MaxVerstappen33 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Nonis was alright. He just killed his legacy with the David Clarkson signing. I swear it was a MLSE directive to sign him anyway. They wanted to make a splash. And the hype was all about David Clarkson for some strange reason. Plus X Canucks GMs are just toxic because we do such a thorough job of trashing them in our media. It is just once again a funny twist to see an X Canuck of his caliber signed by the Flames. Dave Nonis was the original Kyle Dubas type. A younger guy who took the academic route. And never played in the NHL. I think these guys are good to have. Instead of just x players and all old boys club action -

Yes. Boudreau would be a natural there. I wouldn't be surprised if they sign him -

That's exactly what they have to do. Their #1 priority has to be to jumpstart Huberdoh. Because they are stuck with him. The contract hasn't even kicked in yet. -

[Report] Flames name Craig Conroy as GM

What would the Canucks equivalent of hiring Craig Conroy as GM be ? He got 27 goals once. The rest is 8-12 goals a year The HNiC clip. Dave Nonis and Travis Green. That's so Calgary. Then they mentioned Alex Tanguey. He wasn't even part of the 04 crew. I also have to laugh at "Johnny Hawky" pitting down GMs like Marc Bergavin. As if Craig Conroy will be any better. Conroy was in the room when they made such disastrous signings like the Tkachuk bridge and the Huebuerdoh trade and signing -

Wouldn't Marner or Nylander be a pieces that could get a trade going ? -
He's an American. I think he will somehow end up in Chicago. Don't ask me how. But he will. Then Austin Matthews will sign there as well. Anyway Toronto and Edmonton could sure use his services. But how could they get him ? Its a tough one. I don't think he will want to go to Buffalo. He probably wants more of a sure thing. New Jersey ? I was impressed with these guys discussion. The Jets could get a solid prospect++ goalie in return

Coyotes lose vote for new arena - future unclear

If the anti Bettman becomes the commissioner of the NHL, there will be a team in Hamilton. John Shannon says Bettman has 5 more years left -
Coyotes lose vote for new arena - future unclear
MaxVerstappen33 replied to mll's topic in General Hockey Discussion
True. But it isn't the hot new arena that it used to be. Kansas used to be the go-to place everyone would talk about bc of this building. But Gary chose to lose 100 million and play in dumps like Mullet instead -

Bob Mccown on his podcast says that there should be a second NHL team in Toronto or GTA. He's dead serious. John Shannon agrees. But the league won't do it. They say Bettman would have the votes and they could force the Leafs to accept it Around 20 min in https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5saWJzeW4uY29tLzQzNDI4MC9yc3M/episode/OWI5Yjk5YjMtZDlmYi00MGJmLWJjMGItZGE3YzkxNDM4OTNm?ep=14 -

It doesn't sound like the potential ownership group is that hot about the idea though. For me Houston would be Dallas #2. And I don't care about Dallas. I find Seattle or Vegas more interesting.
