It's just a load of absolute garbage that Benning is one of the worst in the salary cap era. He has never signed a franchise crippling contract or made a laugher trade like Chiarelli or Rutherford. Look around the league before you spout off nonsense

Honest Conversation With Those Who Still Support Management

Stopped right there. -
The Flyers can't score. Lost 7 in a row. Alain Vignault might be on the hot seat. I'd take him back. He will always be the Canucks coach in my mind. An NHL coach gets fired every 41 days in the NHL. BTW is Friday. Is Green walking the plank today ?

The correct answer is Chiarelli. Mac-T was criticized for inaction and being in the old boys club. And Chiarelli was the new face, cup winning GM. Mac-T was the kind of GM who would simply refuse to do a deal if the value isn't there. This is why he didn't trade Taylor Hall or Eberle. But Chiarelli was the type who would do deals for the sake of doing deals. Sometimes the best deals are the ones you didn't do. Remember the rumors that Nonis was going to trade for Brad Richards ? It was Edler, Grabner and a 1st or something insane. I'd say we are lucky in this franchise that we've never had a reckless GM. (knock on wood) Mike Gillis or Bennning have not been one of these. But it is funny and ridiculous to see Benning critics try and map this onto Benning by declaring Tanner Pearson a "bloated unmovable contract". Or saying that Sbisa's whopping 3 year deal is a "fireable offense". Benning might be mediocre, just like Mac-T was. But to put him up there with the Chiarelli's is asinine. And be careful what you wish for. I would rather keep Benning than risk getting one of these true franchise crippling GM's. This fanbase doesn't even know what its like to have a truly painful lopsided trade. So be careful what you wish for. This board would truly melt down if we were on the end of some of the trades that have gone on in this league thanks to reckless GM's. The meltdowns we've had are a walk in the park compared to these.

Imagine trading him and then having a gaping hole in the top 6. And then see him light it up on another team. You have to sign the players that you draft. It's the only way to get value. And that's most likely what we will do. Our team doesn't have a history of letting drafted players walk. He has an elite shot. It hasn't gone away. The ppl who want to trade him just want a shiny new toy. They are bored of this one.

The last 5 drafts have been rather weak. The #1 over alls have been weak so far. And we did well in these drafts. -

Bergevin has proven with his trade record that he's not Chiarelli. Berg likes the spotlight. He'd take this job in an instant -

Is there any data on how many teams allow players to expire into UFA without trading them for picks ? The increased popularity of NTC NMC around the league has reduced the amount of rentals going around. I swear the data would show this. Back in the early mid 000's there'd be 3-4 rentals going to one team. In 04, Nonis had 5 rentals come to the team. And the No Move clause didnt even exist. We don't live in that world anymore. If we do, show some proof. What GM sent out all his expiring UFA 's for picks on the last few years ? Ps. #1 player and #3 player from 2017 and 2018 draft but almost nothing in elite prospects eh. Hogs and Podz are roster players in their first year -
Yeah. I'd pay 7 million to not have a gaping hole in my top 6. Does that mean I am thrilled about him at 7 million ? No. Who is the free agent scorer that you are getting for next year ?

[Signing] Canucks sign Tucker Poolman
MaxVerstappen33 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Sucker Poolman He's another player that I'd like to see under a new coach though. -
That's another way of saying you are bored with Boeser and you want a shiny new toy instead. You'll never get a player 24 years old with those numbers for low 7's in free agency.

Everyones dropping Boeser's stock hard lately. We shouldn't even be shopping him

Might have been able to lure Tryamkin out of Russia for Poolman money -

General Hockey Questions

Does anyone else miss the shootout ? Before the new OT format, there would be shootouts on the highlight reel all the time. They are more suspenseful that 3 on 3 OT and good for entertainment. We should go back to the old format so we have some shootouts. -

God I hate every team going for this faux minimalism. Especially the Pens, who have 2 of the best jerseys in the game -

You can make a case that Benning has been mediocre and bad without exaggerating contracts. Pearsons or Sbisa's can be argued as bad but they are just not bloated or fireable offenses in this league. Even if you personally think that Sbisa was a fireable lapse in judgement , it still wouldn't been seen as one in the league -

Another 3 year contract and these guys are saying it's a fireable offense. No. A fireable offense would be double that for a player like Sbisa. 6 years. And they are out there. -

Just like whether Pearsons contract qualifies as bloated , we have to put your claim into context , that Sbisa and Guddy are fireable offenses. I don't think they are but i also don't think Booth or Ballard are. Certainly they aren't at the same level as the Scott Gomez trade to the Habs, or Chiarelli's trades -

Just adding some context. Curious what other ppl think about Sbisa/Guddy being fireable offenses though
