  1. MacTavish spent three months of his 1 year sentence in the Essex County jail in Salem, Mass., and the rest in the Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center. In the Salem facility, which he called a “human warehouse,” he was confined to a 5-by-8-foot cell that had no plumbing.
  2. Hired by the Canucks too a few years ago. But he spent a year in the pen. Thats time NHL’s MacTavish Is Released After Serving One Year in Jail https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1985-05-14-sp-19126-story.html
  3. Some people take the law pretty seriously. Crime is a big deal to them. I dont happen to be one of them. But I understand why some ppl see it that way.
  4. In popular culture, nepotism is the right word. Cronyism means something different. Cronyism means lobbyists filing antitrust violations against competing corporations.
  5. FWIW Just heard Pittsburgh beatwriter say that Tocchet phoned Kessel at 10 at night once "Hey , just watching some video here. You sucked a bit on the powerplay. Do this better"
  6. This is encouraging. Sekeres and Price had Micheal Grabner on and they say he hid from Alain Vignault in the hallways bc he was such a dictator. But it was the exact opposite with Tocchet. I didnt hear the segment yet. But they mention it in this clip https://twitter.com/CTVMorningLive/status/1617949729870024705?s=20&t=4ssbLHF1eKa6xwl0-ED2mg
  7. Not really. He was around when Tampa had new meddling owners who signed Ryan Malone to that bad contract and a few other things. Jay Feaster resigned with years on his contract, Torterella called the new owners cowboys for all of their dubious moves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008–09_Tampa_Bay_Lightning_season
  8. It could be that Francisco likes flying around in his private jet playing the rich hotshot. He flew Mike Gillis to Loungos house in Florida after the Schnieder trade. He made an 8 hour flight to Raleigh to interview Rutherford and flew him to Vancouver. Then he flew to Vegas to visit Tocchet I wonder if anyone tracks his private jet.
  9. Imagine Rutherford was granted a hastily coaching change by ownership. Tocchet would have been desperately trying to salvage the season right out of the gate. It would have been even worse for them. Now they have a 1/2 season to work with and try and correct their abysmal off season roster moves
  10. It didn't help that Alvin and the chipmunks made the roster worse and didn't prioritize keeping the assistant coaches that actually made last year work.
  11. Heard it all when Torterella was hired. Count me as a sceptic to the narrative that our whole team was just coasting. Just imagine the jobs you've had. And some new manager comes in and questions your effort level. This isn't junior hockey.
  12. Yes. The snow is flying. But everyone is on their best behavior and trying to avoid Tocchets doghouse. Almost everyone here has had a job. You know how this is.
  13. He knew exactly who he was. He was just poking him in the eye. Sutter is one nasty old prick. I cant believe he got back in the league
  14. c and p from a comment section I read an article that was apparently from some Russian source that Alexei Zhamnov knew that Gonchar was going to get hired and they've replaced his national team coaching spot. So why would he be staying in Russia?Zhamnov called the expected appointment of Sergei Gonchar as Vancouver coach - AthletisticI don't think Tocchet described the situation well. Basically the question was whether Gonchar was going to be a bench coach and then Tocchet started to ramble. Gonchar "meeting them on the road" sounds like he will be with the team but his arrival is delayed?
