  1. It will be interesting to see what he does at that time. If the Oil don't win, or aren't on the cusp, then I bet they trade him at the TDL or with 1 year left. That is a haul that will be interesting.
  2. Has it been confirmed that Bettman has Parkinson's Disease or does he just have a resting tremor?
  3. Rough start to the game for the Jets. Lowry gets rocked, one of their better defensive D gets into a fight as a result, Morrissey looks to be hurt, Vegas has 2 goals on 2 shots.
  4. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see the coil lose, but that elevated angle looked pretty conclusive that it touched the stick. The war room certainly had that angle available so it makes you wonder how it wasn't called back. The puck trajectory is almost stopped dead in its tracks before falling at a more vertical angle.
  5. I believe the stat references D taken in the top 10. I stand corrected.. 2003 was the last year a D was not selected in top 5. That was the year MA Fleury went 1st OA
  6. Frankly, I'm expecting Detroit, Washington or St. Louis to win the lottery. But hey, at least we finished strong and we can carry that momentum forward into next season! What will the narrative be when Detroit wins the lotto, we start slow next season and Tocchet starts sitting Kuzmenko because he doesn't play well enough in his own zone despite averaging 0.5 goals/game?
  7. Yeah I was disappointed to see him go. Just a classic case of impatience by previous management; was he a Gillis pick?
  8. Pastrnak got 11.25x8 with a NMC. Given this, anywhere from 10.25-10.75 is fair. Get it done so he can focus on training for next year.
  9. As much as I like them they are not generational..yet. Generational players are Matthews, McDavid, Crosby, Ovechkin, Karlsson, Price, Mackinnon, Hedman etc. Not every team has one, never mind three. But their story isn't written yet so time will tell. Hughes probably has the best chance. As for tanking.. I think the issue gets convoluted because everyone argues based on their subjective definition of what tanking is. Some interpret it as management trading roster players for futures, shutting down stars if they are hurt (not injured), which leads to more games lost in the short term. Some view tanking as intentional throwing of games by coaches or players.. you know the "you can't tell players to lose, it's not in their DNA". Most people on 'Team Tank' aren't suggesting that. My frustration with the Canucks specifically is that we were playing one of our most valuable assets, Quinn Hughes, 27 minutes a night. Those are playoffs numbers. There was no need to take on the extra injury risk. Same with Demko - it is more important for Demko to remain healthy going into the summer than for the Canucks to win a meaningless game down the stretch. The last 10 games was an opportunity to see more of Rathbone, Podz, Woo who have all been playing well in Abby. A positive side effect of this strategy is that it usually translates into a better draft position.
  10. Actually, I'm just getting up from a full 8 hours and feeling pretty well rested. You can read my previous posts on the matter if you seek a more comprehensive explanation. Cheers.
  11. No not lose on purpose. We ended up getting a new coach bump at the absolute worst time. RT could have been hired in the summer, BB could have sailed off into the sunset, the Canucks could have saved some seriously negative PR with fans and folks around the league. That's all I'm saying.
  12. That's a fair point re evaluation which I will concede. And I will say that I like the assistant coaching hires.
  13. Everyone knew BB wasn't getting extended. He was never going to be our coach next season. All that negative PR was unnecessary. My point was that RT could have been hired in the off season so we could have had the coaching bump next year when it would actually matter. The lottery is about odds; we likely would have finished aroud Philly/Arizona. These are meaningless games that won't affect the 'culture' next season.
  14. Such a frustrating organization. Here we are about to lock in the worst odds for a Vancouver born phenom. We fired a fan fav coach in Bruce Boudreau while we were already well out of the playoff race; in doing this, the org took on some very negative PR, and rightly so. BB was treated with utter disrespect. We went though all that ridiculousness as a team just to hire Rick Tocchet?! I mean what has RT done in his career to warrant that? It's not that I dislike the hire; he seems to have done a good job. But we are now in this position after a pointless coaching bump that pretty much screws us out of a top pick. That coaching bump would have been better utilized next season when the games will actually mean something. /rant
  15. Is twitter even good for that? Isn't that what the 'hub' is for? I like twitter for news and sports. If you follow the right people it can be good for educational content.
  16. All I have to say is that I hope to see Delia in next game.
