As much as I can’t wait for hockey to restart, I can’t say I’ve missed such crappy threads as this. Sekeres speculates something without anything to back it up and everyone jumps all over it. Just what he was hoping he would happen. Hate that he gets this much attention for something Dhaliwal could have “speculated” to him so Sekeres could factually state “I’m hearing...”. What a friggin joke.

Thanks Lucky. I planted them last Wed. In nature’s hands now. Lol. Although two plants already have a few holes in the leaves from critters. The learning never ends. They are all otherwise doing pretty well.

Ok a question for those with experience. Definitely not me. I’m still in the early stage, moving plants outside daily, then bringing them in during early evening under my lights. Question is - what is better - outside on an overcast/ dreary day or inside under my lights? From what I’ve found, it looks like outdoor light even in these circumstances is still better. Any experience with this?

I’d agree, but even I get tired of comedians that tell the same joke 1700 times and can’t read the crowd. if we assume the 85% staying home is accurate, that’s over 80,000 students that have been in school for 3 weeks. With no student cases yet. I’d say we’re doing pretty well. There will be some of course but I look at the big picture.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit - about 2” average. Shortest one is about 1.5. Biggest/ healthiest one is about 2.5. I planted them May 26.

No still in solo cups and I think still too small yet. I just move them outside during the day. I have my spot prepped and ready for them to plant in ground outside when the time is right.

Thanks. They grew between 0.5 - 1cm today alone after being stunted and not growing at all the past 2 weeks. I think I have it sorted out for now. The lockout is definitely something to be aware of for me and something I had no knowledge of until you mentioned it. I’m such an amateur. Lol.

Yeah that’s what I thought/ hoped at first as well. But I was letting it dry out and it just wasn’t working. This morning they have really perked up so hopefully they can get back on track now.

Looking great @luckylager! I’m envious. Since my last post I’ve had little luck. My seedlings were just not growing then started yellowing. I found out yesterday it was most likely nitrogen deficiency. Have since replenished N starting yesterday and they do indeed look to be recovering. Glad I’m sorting out what to look for now. Already looking forward to getting an early start next spring with the experience I’m gaining with all my missteps so far. Lol. Still planning on planting these in ground, if they ever get to that point that is. At least they are back to green now and are much less wilty...

Since you like patterns so much. Monday June 8 - 16 total in hospital Monday June 25 - 13 total in hospital I’ll leave it to you to use your high school math to see if you can find a pattern. I think we’re doing ok. Just have to stay vigilant and keep this up. It’s nice to find the positives and see the benefits of how well we’re doing.

So 12 per day and no deaths. Nice to see the sky isn’t falling and we’re not getting that spike, even with “the lack of leadership” and craziness of schools opening with no PPE for teachers. It’s almost like Dr. Henry knows a little more than the experts and the odd doom peddlers on here. Go figure.

No but I bought feminized seeds so was thinking that most should be female.

Yeah you got me thinking about that when you mentioned they hate the rain. Damn. Wish my daughter had picked me up something easy and low maintenance for my first time. :/). Oh well, it will be a great learning experience and I’m having fun. Especially in the absence of the Canucks right now...

Yes, out in the valley.

Thanks for the tips, Lucky. Outside they will stay then. :-). And yeah, the sunflowers would routinely grow to 12-14 feet. Good to know that it should be a good spot.

I sure wish I got into this earlier. Great thread and awesome information. To be clear, I am the biggest amateur around. Using and growing. I recently started growing, mainly after a colleague of mine decided to do it and mentioned to me so I decided, what the hell, I want to give it a shot. More of a hobby and personal challenge. Beyond grass, I have never grown a thing in my life. I had no idea it would be so rewarding. To be clear, my plants are less than 2 weeks old. I have no idea what I am doing and just learning as I go. Little did I know there was so much to learn. Sent my daughter to get seeds for me as I had no idea what to get. She came back with 5 seeds of purple kush. Whatever that means. I have successfully germinated them and now have 5 plants about 1.5” high in solo cups. I can’t believe how fun/ rewarding it is to look after them. I move them outside daily and keep them under lights until about 11 each night. Now I am trying to decide what to do next. I have good yard and a great spot for plants outside that my wife always grew sunflowers and has allowed me to use. My intention was just to dump them there when they’re ready. Now I’m not so sure if I should do that or if I should just keep them in pots. Allowing me to bring them in in the fall. I know I am late to the game so thinking pots may be best. But I would still just rather just dig out a big hole and fill up with good soil. So much to learn but man I’m enjoying this. I just read as much as I can before each stage in the process. I still am clueless about the flowering and harvesting phases. But I’ll get there. Will definitely be following this thread.

OP, once the players association release their endorsement of this playoff format, I propose that you edit the original post and make it a GDT. Would have a great chance of being the longest one in history. Lol. I am SOOO ready for hockey...

Well based on the data, you’re 1% more likely to get it. But really, it’s not statistically significant. Or peer reviewed. Call it a wash even if the study is validated.
-
Personally I prefer the points percentage. That way we can/ will knock out Edmonton and Calgary will lose to St Louis. Both AB teams out in the first round, which is appropriate. Let the better teams move onto round 2. The rollback allows one of those crappy teams to get to second round. Leafs play Tampa either way, so they too will be deservedly out after round 1. But, I will be happy either way really once it’s confirmed the Playoffs are a go.

You won’t get a definitive word on this. The virus is only 3 months old and as a result there is a lot to learn and much we don’t know. But - the experts, ours included, have stated the risk of getting it a second time is low. I can’t remember her exact words (ie unlikely, extremely low, etc) but it’s generally accepted you’re not likely to get it again. So far.

@riffraff I just want to mention for the record, I appreciate you posting a lot of this information. I’m no contrarian and god knows there are millions more knowledgeable than I am on this subject. But, I always appreciate hearing opinions and facts from all angles. I have taught my kids to question everything and not accept everything you hear or read, unequivocally, no matter the source. I just have to think back to when my kids were born - kid 1, all experts indicated babies must sleep on their stomachs. Kid 2 - no sleeping on stomachs they said, must be on their backs... kid 3 - said experts now say sleeping on the side is the way to go. Things change, data is collected, opinions and methods change. I suspect this will not be that different. We are all learning and the experts are doing what the think is right given the info they have. I have no doubt we will beat this, and that it is going to be an ever changing road. But we’ll get there.

427 pages. Wow. If I wasn’t so worried about being perceived as taking this lightly, I would start a new April Fool’s thread. “Coronavirus? Do we really need it?” But alas, I am bored, concerned about the world as I sit here working remotely, and really missing hockey for the escape it provides.

Dear Sportsnet, Please immediately stop all current programming, go into your archives, and play all footage in its entirety, starting March 13, 2011. Sincerely, A Canucks Fan. (I know, selfish, but one can dream and long for something to escape this madness...)
