  1. Cole Caufield -7 Simon Holmstrom +15 Oleg Zaitsev undrafted. Not sure what held him back, but he was rated in the 3rd round by multiple scouts and mock drafts Harrison Blaisdell -14 Judd Caulfield -14 Still happy with our picks and look forward to Zaitsev making himself a pick next year.
  2. Wouldn't that be the reason FOR trades? If a team right up to the cap assumes the cap isn't going to 82m, wouldn't they make deals before July 1st?
  3. Pod whale songs. https://www.eaglewingtours.com/killer-whale-sounds/
  4. Both are surprising, but I'm happy Holmstrom jumped up into the 1st round :))
  5. We drafted Brisebois as a 6 footer and he's 6'2" now. Podkolzin turns 18 in a few days, so it's not out of the question.
  6. Because Alex Burrows is a legend. There isn't a trash can big enough for this thread.
  7. We learned in the last couple of weeks, when media were trying to find out what it would take to get Tryamkin out of his contract, that it takes 18 months to get out of a KHL deal. If the Canucks started now, they would be able to get him out of that deal by Christmas of next year. They could also give him enough signing bonus to buy himself out of his KHL deal. Apart from Kakko, Pod is the most NHL ready player in this draft. All the Canucks have to do is throw a bit of extra money at the kid, so he can buy himself out. This kid on Petey's wing is going to look amazing.
  8. Mods should delete this thread. Why bother actual fans to pile on this useless premise and make this a Burrows why do we need him thread.
  9. It almost seems as though this has been a strategy going into the draft. It likely has nothing to do with their selections, but Virtanen and Juolevi were also 17 year old picks.
  10. Sutter would have to be the centerpiece. We don't have anyone else of value. Sutter + Hutton + 2020 2nd is still a lowball offer.
  11. This is a tiny draft. How many times could Burke have said, That's a small body gentlemen....
  12. I watched that last night. The team drafting was rarely the team that owned the pick.
  13. Cole Caufield Simon Holmstrom Oleg Zaitsev Harrison Blaisdell Judd Caulfield We're very happy with our selections this year. We went for forwards this year and we got some good players who will put up some points for us in the future.
  14. Still no trades. It was supposed to be a volatile draft, but it goes to show how much teams value draft picks.
  15. Possibly. They might have taken Seider at 10 and as the lone top RHD I think it was highly likely as a choice, but Detroit shook up the draft by taking him at 6.
  16. Why not have both? Virtanen's value is low, so why trade him? Trade chips are Tanev, Sutter and Hutton. Cost controlled players with upside shouldn't be considered as sweeteners in trade deals.
  17. I said this a week ago... If Podkolzin is there at 10 you take him. He didn't score at the u-20 tourney, but he was a powerful, puck possession guy who was noticeable when he had the puck and Russia very rarely plays any 17 year olds. Apparently it's easier for an underage player to get out of a KHL contract, because they have provisions for players eligible for the draft.
  18. Russian factor. Hey remember when we had 3 of the greatest Russians to ever play in the Canucks lineup? Larionov broke in Bure and he never should have been traded. Then we had 55 goal Mogilny. Now we have a dynamic power forward, who likely isn't done growing yet.
  19. Only because nobody knew Bure was available for his draft year. I love the pick and he's going to be a top line winger for the Canucks.
