So you're saying Pettersson with Bure and Odjick on his wings wouldn't have survived in the 90's? They would have carved the league up. Lou Lamoriello changed the game with his neutral zone trap, when there was no 2 line pass. The league decided to change that rule as a result of the devils winning every game 2-1, which was also in part to Martin Brodeur being the best goalie of all time. As someone who watched hockey in the 80's and 90's, your assumption is hogwash.

Greatest lineup ever. Y'all responded to the wipe and he's as wrong as you both have been for a few years. Cool Huh?

I'd staple these guys together at this point. Bo will big brother the sh-- out of the kid if given the chance.

Gaudette and MacEwen called up. Gadjovich and Jasek score! Development. -
Of course they will. It's not some magicians trick where this kid could only do this in the NCAA. This kid is a rookie. He keeps embarrasing Seniors. Guess what's going to happen when it takes a year or less in the AHL for this kid. You could only have a negative opinion of him if you never watched him play.

Hughes + Pettersson + Boeser + Horvat etc...=

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread

There's nothing unfortunate about it. It's as your last sentence says. The drafts from the last few years have finally given this organization a chance the develop an actual top down franchise. It takes most prospects several years to make it to the NHL. It's a handful of players that get to the NHL within 3 years of the draft. There's nothing that has changed in decades except for fan expectation. It's weird. -
Do they? 1 post does not a consensus make.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Pettersson does a similar thing for Timra. It does go to show how valuable Dahlen was to that team during their season last year and eventual promotion to the SHL. It has to be tough for him to see them struggle this year and possibly face relegation the very next year.

Thank God Koivu is out for the season. I was starting to worry that I was going to have less than 4 players on LTIR this season

Every time this guy hits the ice his game seems to take another step. That WJC tournament, where he wasn't even supposed to make the team had to be a huge confidence boost for him. By the end of the tournament he was playing with Jack Hughes and started to look more and more like him every shift. That last game, he was demanding the puck on his stick every time he was on the ice, with the beavertail slaps and wanting the puck on his stick. Those gifs that were posted were just a few of many that could have been picked out from that game. He has that sort of arrogance on the ice that he can pull off any move he tries the same way that Pettersson does. To get him with Hughes and Woo in that draft looks to be amazing at this early stage in their careers.

So you're saying you made a mistake as to your evaluation of Virtanen and you're willing to extend further leniency towards future prospects. Sounds reasonable.

I'd love to know which part of my post you felt I got "riled up". RFA contracts are structured the way they are, because the NHL drafts 18 year olds. The NBA does it with superstars and the NFL only lets superstar 3rd year college players into their league. Drafting players into the NHL is a crap shoot and for the most part only the 1st round players have a decent chance of making an impact for their team. 20 year olds are just beginning their journey in the NHL and those who think that a 20 year old is at his peak potential as an athlete are mistaken. You said as much that you weren't watching the games. So were you lying then or are you lying now?
-
Or he couldn't have had an injury at the start of his 1st year of pro and gotten of to a better start. Stat watching is a poor way to evaluate a player, when you've never even watched him play a game.

I love these legacy players who were mentored and coached by their fathers into exceptional prospects. I think we passed over some, who we shouldn't have, but I'm definitely encouraged by the progression of Madden. He plays with an edge like is father, but when John was interviewed post-draft he conceded that his son had greater offensive instincts than he ever did. I look at that WJC as a huge stepping stone. First of all he made the team, when he was clearly on the fringes of that lineup before they hit the ice. Then he was able to work his way up the lineup until he was finally on a line with Jack Hughes. Even now we can see that he plays the game like Jack in a way that he didn't before that tournament. He's a player like Horvat who just keeps pushing that glass ceiling well above what anyone thought of him as a draft hopeful.

Your glass of scotch is half empty. Top that bad boy up, because drunk Alf is way more entertaining. I think the point is that players do and will come out of these lesser leagues, like Cale Makar and Colton Point as recent examples.

I caught some of the game tonight. It's hard to watch a game when you only get to see the player you're looking for is on the ice for a third of the game. What poise from this kid. He almost never makes a mistake. He's always on the right side of the puck. He makes every pass on the tape and some of the stretch passes he made lead directly to scoring chances. The last time I referred to his game I used the adjective Smooth. Watching him tonight the word effortless comes to mind.

So he's just trolling then. if you put 2 t's after a vowel. The vowel becomes soft. English is the most complex language. My favorite Pettersson answer is. "I don't know how to answer".
-
In Swedish it's Pettershon. He called himself Peterson. If he's fine with either why did he choose peet?
-
The poise and presence of this kid. And at 1:09 he calls himself Peterson. too funny. Start calling him Peterson from now on right?

Gudbranson's best pairing as a Canuck was with Edler. Doesn't it make more sense to pair your weakest with your best than to put your worst with your worst and hope they don't get burned for the 15 minutes that you are forced to play them? Edler Guddy Hutton Tanev Pouliot Stecher If you keep putting the same pairings out there and expecting different results isn't that insane.

Kidding. You need to take yourself less seriously bud. You're entitled to your opinion even if it's totally wrong
