Wedneversday. Could you imagine giving away a #1 winger for what exactly? The Oilers did it for a top 4 defensman. I suggest we don't do the same. 8x8 is my offer. He is a team 1st guy and he knows his money and long term success is going to come from being EP40's winger, so he is more likely to sign the offer of 4 years 7 million. Canucks retain his RFA rights on the back end and Brock gets paid his next contract. There's no chance they will squabble into training camp.

Amazing thread. Would read again.

Climate change advocate wins award
canuckledraggin replied to kingofsurrey's topic in Off-Topic General
Ok. So are you talking about pollution or climate change? Humans are horrifically polluting the planet. There is a continent sized mass of plastic that exists in the south Pacific. Most of it comes from China and the countries in Asia that don't have a seat at the table, or refuse to step to the table, when it comes to environmental issues. What do you propose that could involve 30% of the world, to change the planet? -
That's not bad news nor surprising. We finally have organizational depth and that will also mean Gaudette and MacEwen will start in the AHL. That's a good thing and not a slight on those players. It's a luxury that teams with good depth can afford to do.

Except when the Canucks affiliate was the Manitoba Moose and we got Edler, Kesler, Bieksa, Burrows and Hansen. edit: I forgot Raymond and Schneider and of course the tragedies of Bourdon and Rypien. We can only hope to have another group like that come through this organization. I agree that Lays chips guy sucked though

Tkachuk is a Russian name is it not? Well now we have our version. Giving zero F*cks and playing the game at a high level. I stood up in my chair and said Tkachuk after Jim Benning said "From the London Knights..." back in 2016. Now we have Juolevi and Podkolzin under cost control and the future is blindingly bright. I'd give JB another year extension even if we miss the playoffs, just to see what he can do what he can pull off in draft. Build through the draft was his mantra since he got here and he hasn't disappointed. He got lucky and he took some risks, but that empty cupboard is full enough to ice a competitive team and give us a lot of hope for the future. Podz is a beauty and he's going to be a Canuck for years to come.

Y'all must have forgot. Now imagine those cross ice passes going to Pettersson and Boeser. The kid's vision is off the charts.

He also scored 3/5 in the shootout. This kid is a pure sniper. He's definitely in the top 10, but has the potential to get into the top 3 or 5. https://www.hockeyprospect.com/2020-nhl-draft-rankings/ https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2020/future-considerations https://prospectpipeline.ca/2019/06/20/2020-nhl-draft-ranking-top-31-off-season/

Toronto has about 7 million in cap space and we're willing to take on your bad contracts. You won't win the deal, but you might be able to ice a team next season. Ty Rattie can be removed from my roster, as he has signed in the KHL.

That video is in slow motion and it still looks like a bang bang play. My guess is that since it was a dump in and the puck was so far away from the hit, they made that call. Or the result of the hit was the factor in the ref's eyes. Either way that is just a good clean hit.

Hmmm. I wonder if the goalie thought he was going to shoot there?

Actually he just looked at the tire fire of a defense that was constantly given heavy minutes ahead of him and wondered, why are all of these scrubs playing ahead of me? Have a look at the defense from 2016/17 and try to justify playing half of these guys ahead of a prospect with his potential. https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/77/vancouver-canucks/2016-2017 Stecher started coming into his own, but with the exception of Edler and Tanev, why would any one of those D-men deserve ice time ahead of Tryamkin?
-
So wait. You're saying that when Dvorak, Tkachuk and Marner all turned pro, the younger forwards below them in the lineup, were able to take on bigger roles and put up more points the next season? Next you're going to tell me that Bouchard and Mete jumped ahead of Juolevi based on their superior abilities that had nothing to do with matchups or pairings. Please tell me more. I'm learning so much.

Those are his measurements from this years combine and he absolutely crushed the fitness and power tests. https://thehockeywriters.com/2019-nhl-combine-heights-weights/ https://link.nhl.com/centralscouting/public/ Kid's gonna be a beauty. -
When did Count Chocula get into broadcasting?

I would pull the trigger on that deal, but I think they want to hang onto Tanev to back up Hughes. Hughes is such a risk taker that he needs a shutdown guy to back him up and Tanev is the only guy on the right side that fits that bill. Risto has huge offensive upside, but he isn't nearly as responsible defensively. Unless they want to be the Islanders of 2 years ago and try to outscore their defensive problems, I'd rather be the Islanders of last season and have their defensemen actually play defense.

There's really no reason to think about moving on from Virtanen at this point. He's been taking baby steps with his progression since turning pro, which isn't ideal, but the area he's most improved on are awareness and positioning. His physical tools are undeniable and his conditioning and endurance, which were in question a couple years ago, have also improved. The new additions of Miller and Ferland will be perfect examples to Jake for the way he needs to play to take yet another step towards his development. At 1.25 million he is a bargain player. The Canucks aren't in cap trouble and likely won't be until we need to sign Petey in 2 years. There is no risk in giving JV more time to develop. He should definitely not be considered a sweetener in a trade to shed cap, that the Canucks just don't need yet.

[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland

I'm not predicting anything, but I'm assuming you're using the plural you to refer to the majority of posters in this thread. 3 or 4 years in the future is way too far into the future to be worried about contracts. In 3 years we will only have 9 contracts from this team unless players play themselves into new deals. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks -

Yeah, but unless Roussel is way ahead of schedule, they have until December to figure that out. Also they are likely to have another injury or 2 to add to LTIR by that time. -

It means we're spending to the cap and the 3 million for Roussel who will be on LTIR, will get cap relief. -

We need to waive 8 players out of camp now or package some up for more assets.
