  1. It's awesome to see Jake move up to that second line. I think that line as a whole will be better now, Ritchie couldn't really keep up with McDavid and Lazar. I thinks Jakes speed and offensive ability fits in nicely on that line, and his physicality will also really help. Ricthie only has the physicality. Jake standing up for Lazar after he got slammed hard from behind into the boards was good to see . Shows he's a good team guy and coaches will appreciate it as well. Him and Horvat will look great together in Nucks jerseys once Jake gets here in a year or two. I'm so excited that the Canucks finally have some legit top prospects climbing the ranks. We got some good goalies and forwards coming along, now we just need defenders.
  2. People calling bust already??? He just joined the Canucks like 30 mins ago. wow. Support the guy, hopefully he will become a great player for us in the future. I can't wait to see what he can do in the NHL. He seems like the exact player we need, also someone who Cherry would really like, lol. Good Canadian kid, hits, fights, scores. I'm so excited we got this guy over twigs like Ehlers and Nylander. Although I respect those kids skill, it just we need that mix of skill and toughness. Not just completely one or the other. Welcome to team Jake Virtanen!
  3. Yea really. So much for the the "Canucks won't hire coach until after draft". Honestly, I know nothing about him other than he won the calder cup with Dallas affiliate and that he was in demand, also the mustache, can't forget the stache, lol. So I'm just gonna trust management on this one and will be excited to see him implement his system and try to help this team become competitive again. Welcome aboard Willie! (if this is a legit report)
  4. The better team won, Lundqwist was the Rangers only chance to get by and even he couldn't do it by himself. The Kings were dominating NY, and thanks to Lundy this game was still in reach. It takes an entire team effort like how the Kings play to win a cup, the Rangers were in way over their heads.
  5. When I saw that clip I thought it was an ad for his next "Rock 'em Sock 'em Hockey" lol.
  6. I completely agree with what your saying. I don't think trading Horvat with the 6th overall will get us any closer to getting through this rebuild/retool- whatever you want to call it. I'd rather keep Horvat and take the best available with the 6th. I'd think we'd be better off having both of those instead of just Reinhart. 1-5 in this draft are all good players but they all kinda seem like there of equal callibre right now and theres no one who really stands above (except for maybe Ekblad, but I was thinking forwards, and he very well could be the next Erik Johnson). So I don't think its worth the price to move up this year, it may be worth seeing if anyone falls from the top 5. We'd have the first opportunity to take whoever it could be.
  7. I don't mind him as a scarcely used extra forward. Just as someone who can fill in for injuries on pretty much any line but the 4th. With his good vision he can setup plays with really nice passes. Which is why I'd think he'd be a waste on the 4th with a couple bangers who would rarely ever finish these opportunities. Just don't think hes good enough to be a full time NHL'er. Too bad he can be claimed on waivers, so we couldn't just call him up or send him down as needed. Going to be tough for him to get a lot of ice time.
  8. Yea, he doesn't seem like someone who cares that much about winning. All it seems like he wants to do is score goals in the regular season so he can get a big paycheck. When goals are hard to come by he doesn't try to work harder to get that goal, he just hopes a glorious opportunity will land on his stick. He should go sign with the Oilers, they love to overpay players to get them to go there.
  9. I pretty much completely agree with this post, other than the costed them Luongo part. Luongo had wanted to leave the Canucks way before Torts even got here. Gillis just wasn't able to offload him. You could be right in the sense that Torts was the final straw for Luongo though with that whole Heritage Classic fiasco.
  10. Luckily for AV he got fired from here last season instead of at the end of this one. Now he gets a spot in the Eastern final, good for him. He didn't single highhandedly get the Rangers into the playoffs, the Rangers are just a better team than the Canucks. Had he been here, we still wouldn't have made the playoffs and it would have still been another stale year from the Canucks core and also coach. Everyone would be calling for him to be fired. But instead he goes and has success with another team and now it's a mistake that he got fired? I don't think the mistake was firing AV, the mistake was not making any progressive roster decisions and hiring the wrong coach. At least the moron making those decisions is now gone.
  11. Wow, I really didn't think this was going to go to 7. Good job Rangers for battling back.
  12. Yeah it was definitely a defensive breakdown. They had two people behind the net covering one guy while Brassard was left wide open in front of the net. Even after that they were still panicking and not able to clear the puck out of danger. Not like it would have mattered once they looked at the replay. I just wanted to get in on the Fleury jokes.
  13. Fleury has been known to give up OT goals in the playoffs for quite sometime now, but he outdid himself tonight, letting in 2 goals in one OT!
  14. I was one of those people that was alright with Torts coming back next year, but that was before Gillis got fired and Linden took over. It makes sense to have our new GM pick the coach. It would have been awful if Gillis was still here and was the one who fired Torts.
  15. Tampa seemed like they were playing like a very nervous team without much confidence after game 1. They always looked like they were panicking when they had the puck in their defensive zone, it led to turnovers and lots of scoring chances. When Tampa scored, they normally had an awful shift right after the play resumed. The Habs had the momentum most of the time through out the series, even when Tampa had something good going for them it would never last. The Habs did a great job shutting down Stamkos as well, barely ever noticed him in a dangerous scoring area. Price and Montreals D is quite a bit better then what Tampa has. Even if Bishop played I still think Montreal would have won this series, it just may have not been a sweep.
  16. I really hope St Louis isn't rattled from losing their 2-0 series lead. If they still have the confidence to win this series then I think they will win it. I don't really care how far the Blues go since I want the Avalanche to advance to the finals, but I do want the Blues to win this series against the Hawks, because I am sick of seeing so much of the Blackhawks in the playoffs. Also Duncan Keith, whatever team he is on I want to see them lose. I'd be pretty angry if it's a Hawks/Bruins final again. I'd really like to see some different teams battle it out for the cup. Something new and exciting.
  17. Oh he is back, nice. I have the game on delay so I havent seen any of the third yet. I was worried he may have suffered a concussion.
  18. This game hasn't been officiated very well, the cross check penalty on Briere that led to a Tampa goal was a brutal call. Then of course the waved off Tampa goal. First of all even if there was contact, the play went on for a few more chaotic seconds before the puck went into the net. Price had to time to recover from the contact by Desharnais and Killorn, he sold the Goalie Interference hard by continuing to scramble in the crease. I think either it should have counted as a goal or the play should have stopped earlier. Probably should have just been a goal. To much confusion there, ref didn't even know what he was doing. Despite the bad reffing, this has been a very intense game with lots of scoring chances and nice hits. Theres even been some sick plays made by Subban. Like the Touchdown pass on the first play of the game, and then there was the wraparound pass to Galaghar who went bar down after the tampa guy tripped over the net and pretty much did a front flip. Also I wonder if Stamkos has been concussed.
  19. Colorado clutched it. That was a great comeback. Most entertaining game I watched involving the Wild I think i have ever seen. I didn't catch all of it since I was pretty invested in the Chi/Stl game, but I was looking at this game every now and then. I saw the first period and parts of the third when it was 4-3 and then the tie. The empty net sequence was sweet, the way the guy stopped it from going in and then helped create the tying goal at the other end. Yeah, the only difference was on the Montreal goal, Tampa had a defensive break down and left Weise wide open in front of the net. In the Colorado one someone else had the puck, lost it, but continued hard to the net and wiped out both the defenders. Very similar goals. Also both 5-4 winners.
  20. I think the Penguins will take this series, but Columbus will put up a good fight. They will get their first ever playoff win though. I'd like to see this go to game 7. I like the players they got on that team, seems like they finally got it right in Columbus. For as long as I can remember they have sucked pretty much every year. It's nice to see them finally being competitive, the long time fans of this team are probably already happy with this season.
  21. This was a really exciting game. Lots of hits and scoring opportunities. They way they were trading goals from start to finish was awesome. Then of course Dale Weise of all people comes up huge with the OT winner. Man, playoff hockey is amazing, a whole new level of intensity and excitement. If Montreal is going to win this series though, they are going to need better goaltending from Price. He looked shakey and pucks were getting through him. He was having a hard time tracking the puck and even lost the net a couple of times. Got bailed out a few times by his defense, then the forwards were able to pot some goals. Despite Price's play, Montreal did play well and did deserve to win this one.
  22. If he truly does want to be here and try to help get this team back into the playoffs I am totally fine with it. That being said, if there is a good offer on the table that has some nice pieces in it that would help the team in the long run I'd take it. This team can't remain exactly the same if they expect to be cup contenders every year. It's pretty obvious this team has been steadily declining the past few years. Torts is right when he said this team is stale and needs to get younger to keep up with rest of the league.
  23. I'm going to go with the Avs in this one, I say they take it in 5. It's nice to seem them back in the playoffs. When I was younger and growing up they were an elite team with a bunch of sweet players, so I've always kinda had a soft spot for them. I hope they go on a serious run. It would be awesome to so see the Avs come out of the Central, say they do, I'd obviously be cheering for them against whoever wins the pacific.
  24. Watch Smyth finally get that goal now. It seems as if the Canucks want him to get it.
  25. That was a solid 6 minute penalty kill. Maybe the Oilers were trying to hard to get Smyth that PPG.
