The ceiling is high for this kid and hopefully he can develop a solid game. He should get a chance to get some limited time with the Canucks in the rest of this season and then some real development for 2 years or so in the AHL to make him more of a solid 200 ft player.
-
Will probably need another year in Jr followed by 2-3 in the AHL but he definitely has the potential to be a good piece for us in the future

There is no chance they trade or expose (if they even could) Loui. The optics would be horrible to future UFAs and on top of this it can be argued (although no definitive proof) that JB was behind the deal in Boston to land Ericksson in exchange for Seguin and thus is JBs guy.
-
Absolutely! There is validity in a lot of the complaints, specially when there is some backup to support the comments. That said there is also quite a bit of slag on the guy that is totally unfounded.
-
Exactly!! Everyone has an opinion and that is what breeds discussion. Too bad there are a few on here that will either belittle or strawman you if your opinion differs from their own. With that said, I have been guilty of the same in the past and try to keep an open mind for the most part these days.

I think a lot will see that Bo has a lot to prove before he is anywhere even close to the top 10 to come out of his draft class.
-
Its not looking too good at the moment and I would not be surprised if Rodin is back in the SHL next year. It seems there may be a bit of a disconnect between coach and management in this case and I dont think it would shock many if Rodin has had enough by the end of this season.
-
I am sure he could definitely help them out in the playoffs with his grit and determination. That said we would probably only get a 5th rounder or so for him at this point.

I think what has been agreed is that there is a small WJC sample size and Finland is struggling so OJ is a bust and MT was the pick at #5 because he is in the NHL right away! Forget about last year as a 17 year old top D on a gold medal squad (who made the WJC all-star team to boot) as he was obviously carried by Laine and PJ. I mean if you cant make the NHL as a 18 year old dman then you are horrible! I guess it is even worse for both PLD and Jost as they are centers and it is even easier to make the NHL.

Yup, I grew up and started watching hockey in the 80s, saw Linden's whole career.. Different era and the nucks had a lot of below average players (including the vets) back then as well.
-
Its a scary thought for sure....
-
I guess we will see. While I hope I am wrong, following his tenure with the canucks (Comets) since he was drafted (wasnt too excited back then either) I just cant see it. Of course this is just my opinion. @Lancaster: I was actually a big supporter of Kesler (as a player, not the person off the ice)
-
We also have to remember that the NYI were run by a bunch of clowns back then who almost destroyed that franchise.
-
Different era as scoring in this day is far far more difficult and those numbers back then would have been considered maybe a little above average. We dont see multiple 50-70 goal scorers anymore and goaltenders get as many shutouts in year as some would have had in a career back then. Again, I am a fan of Linden's when he was a player and he was the heart and soul of the team no doubt about it.
-
Completely disagree. Horvat is probably the best all around player on the Nucks this season and looks to be the only one who cares night in night out. He is probably one of the best players in the league in his roll at his age and I think would garner far far above average interest to most teams if he were ever on the block. Unfortunately the Canucks have little residual talent these days (although his line mates have been producing lately), just imagine if he was playing with highly skilled players found on pretty much any other team. While I am a Linden fan (as a player) I would consider him average while Horvat will be a far superior player.
-
This^ Gaunce is a very hard worker, says the right things etc but he just doesnt have the talent to be a regular NHL player. I could see him having some success in Europe, perhaps the KHL.
-
OJ will be a star but he is still young and definitely needs another year in jr followed by a few in the AHL. No need to rush him either as it will be a few years before the Nucks are out of their rebuild/retool anyway.
-
I agree. I think it is still a year or two of college play followed by a year to two of AHL development ahead for Boeser (if he is still with Vancouver as they want to do it right as opposed to how its gone with JV)

Bo is to play with Burrow and Dorsett to defend against the attacks that come. I think the plan is to have Burrows mentor Bo until he is ready to become a decent NHL player with a 200 game.
-
From some of the things coming out (province article above) it could be a long time before Rodin plays and it will definitely take him some time to get his legs back to game form once back. At this point in time it is hard to see him having a long future with the Canucks unfortunately.
-
He could be used as a pretty powerful bargaining chip now for that top 6 forward Canucks are looking for, for immediate help. Would negate the risk of him remaining at college and going FA as well.
-
Utica bound! If he can spend a couple years down there playing against men he will be all the better for it when he is ready for the NHL in a few years. D do take longer to develop (as we can see with Sbisa) so no need to rush Stecher who could turn out to very serviceable for the franchise.
-
Burrows mentors young guys so he is on team for good!
-
No need to rush OJ he will be a cornerstone piece (if not traded for one) in the future.. I could see this year and next in junior followed by 3-4 years in the AHL honing his game against adults before the Canucks bring him up full time.
