  1. A young rhd would be the dream. We might end up with a forward tho
  2. Podkolzin will be everything we want Jake to be. Gotta move Jake before Podkolzin gets here. Don't want his lack of intensity rubbing off on Pods. Doubt it would. but jake is bad for team standards lol
  3. Mark Giordano is available for a late 1st or 2nd. (50% retention is feasible - Cap hit of 3.75M) He has 2 years left on his contract. Gio is off the block. He has been moved.

  5. New Jersey is proud to welcome Yaroslav Askarov to the New Jersey Devils! We were thoroughly impressed with Yaroslav in the interview process and knew we had to have him. Those discussions with Yaroslav kick started multiple trades that moved up to 28th OA, to 13th OA, and to eventually 8th OA. We were prepared to move up to 6 to select him given the need within our franchise. Fortunately for us - we were able to get him at 8th OA. Askarov will remain in SKA St. Petersburg for the foreseeable future. We hope that he continues to work on his craft and make his NHL debut in 2-3 seasons. Some prominent scouts have referred to him as the "Best goalie since Carey Price", we however don't wish to put that pressure on the young kid. We see a lot of poise and patience in his game. We know he will be returning to a fantastic franchise in St Petersburg and we look forward to watching his progression from a distance. We will remain in contact with Yaroslav and his agent moving forward. Some around the league will say this was a bold pick. We definitely understand that sentiment given the talent that had fallen to us at 8th Overall. We however decided to standfast and go with the player we believe can be a franchise altering player. We appreciate all the teams who reached out and made some surprising good offers. We look forward to continuing trade conversations with those clubs and we wish them well in the remaining rounds of the draft. Thank you @Nail @Monty and the rest of the FL crew for hosting this event! Sincerely, Rush17 NJ GM
  6. With the 8th Overall Selection... From SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL.. NJ selects... Yaroslav Askarov @Bombastik der Teutone You are on the clock.
  7. Jim can figure it out a touch old for us i bet. but he would be a hell of an add. He is hurt more often than healthy tho so probably not a wise idea.
  8. He has been given every opportunity. It's on Jake I agree.
  9. Deadline is 7 Days away. Several teams still have unsigned prospects from the 2018 GML Draft. Make sure you sign your 2018 prospects before the date above or you will lose them.
  10. All that putting Jake in the NHL early was sell tickets and give him a sense of entitlement.
  11. I wonder if Willie D was part of Jake's developmental problem. He didn't exactly have a great coaching style or a deep team to insulate Jake from the losing.
  12. He got brought into the NHL to soon imo. Should have went back to Jr. If he had to earn it - he might not be so entitled. Draft + 1 year in Jr, Draft + 2 year in AHL, then draft + 3 year in van.
  13. “I thought he worked and competed hard in the playoffs. He scored that big goal for us in Game 6. To be perfectly honest with you, though, I was expecting more from Jake in the playoffs,” Benning said on Sportsnet 650 on Tuesday afternoon. “He can skate, he’s strong. He can get to the net. He’s a guy we’re going to have to talk about here going forward. We’ve been patient with him in his development, but he’s a guy I was expecting to produce more for us.” Benning then made a comparison with another speedy winger who has size and hands: Vegas’s Alex Tuch — same age as Virtanen, taken 12 spots behind Virtanen in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft at No. 18 overall — who stood out like a lightning bolt nearly every time he was on the ice for the Golden Knights against the Canucks. “As we’ve seen against Vegas, Tuch … had an impact on the series because of his speed and size.”

  15. Hopefully for a young D. One to play with Quinn?
  16. He's either gone.. Or they are using this to drive his contract value down. Maybe it helps in both directions.
