  1. free agency could solve this problem. Could probably get a relatively cheap 3rd line C. We are a promising team now. Will be cheaper especially with flat cap to find a decent 3C.
  2. I am guessing one of Jake or Gaudette get moved.
  3. I am trying to find one.. let me know if anyone else finds one. audio until we find a video feed http://player.sportsnet650.ca/?skipap=1
  4. CBJ is looking for a D man - If you have one that you cannot afford to retain or need moved for a cap dump please let us now. Happy to consider all offers as long as they make sense and help both clubs. Rush CBJ
  5. looked a lot like JT Miller there.
  6. ^ That is a pretty good deal if you have the cap space!
  7. Heard we have the end of season presser coming down the pipe today from Canucks Clay. It appears to be a noon start time! Jim and Travis above. Waiting on player availability to go live. Audio Alternative: http://player.sportsnet650.ca/?skipap=1

  9. 2020-21 Ottawa Senators - Pre-Season Update The off-season was very productive for the Senators. The team made some significant changes to the roster and coaching staff. Following the 2020 NHL Draft the team went into the signing phase unable to get Thomas Chabot to agree to an extension. July 1st came along after countless declined offers.. we noticed he was in talks with other clubs. So we opted to pull the trigger and send him packing for a wealth of assets from the selling Vegas Golden Knights. Here is the trade! To VGK: Thomas Chabot 2021 2nd NYI 2022 3rd VGK 2021 4th BUF To OTT: Shea Theodore Cody Glass Braydon McNabb After the trade of Thomas Chabot to VGK we headed into free agency with 23M in salary. We later moved out Wayne Simmonds and his 5.25M contract for a 2 later picks and a few extra pieces like Matt Martin, J.T. Brown, and Carter Hutton. We signed: Joe Pavelski (1 year - 8.35M) Mike Green (1 year - 8.35M) Niklas Kronwall (2 year - 3.85M) Jimmy Howard (1 year - 3.55M) Justin Braun (2 years - 3.25M) Anton Khudobin (2 years - 2.75M) Cedric Paquette (2 years - under 2M) Zack Kassian (1 year - under 2M) Some seismic changes to the roster for sure. We no longer have a dominate stud on D in Chabot but we feel far more balanced back on the end. Our forward group is deeper than ever. Howard and Khudobin appear to be holding their own well too. It looks like some of our prospects may have regressed or stalled out. Including Starter potential Gustavsson. We did play him out of his role as a AHL #1 instead of a backup as his role suggested. He played admirably but his growth was definitely impacted. Same with Erik Brannstrom and Villie Heinola who saw time outside their suggested roles. Soderstrom played in his role most of the season though and showed some good progression. After 2 pre-season games our team was down 0-2 and looked terrible. So we opted to pull the plug and replace the head coach a thing we had been considering doing down the stretch last season. We assigned our assistant coach the interim tag and went searching for a new coach. During that time the team destroyed the Boston Bruins the defending champs 8-2. The new coach accepted our offer then we went on to beat Tampa 5-3 with an empty netter giving us some separation. Note this is only pre-season. :D We are now 2-2 in the pre-season with 3? games to go I believe. New Coach is a B overall but A in teaching and other good areas. Old coach was an A- but the team did terrible under him. OTTAWA SENATORS 2020-21 Lines Reilly Smith (83) - Pierre-Luc Dubois (90) - Artemi Panarin (89) Brady Tkachuk (84) - Joe Pavelski (86) - Colin White (84) Michael Rasmussen (81) - Drake Batherson (80) - Cody Glass (82) Kyle Clifford (78) - Cedric Paquette (78) - Calle Jarnkrok (80) Shea Theodore (83) - Mike Green (86) Niklas Kronwall (81) - Julius Honka (81) Brayden McNabb (82) - Justin Braun (81) Jimmy Howard (84) Anton Khudobin (82) Scratches: Zack Kassian (81), Victor Rask (79), Sebastian Aho - D(78) Mikko Vallin (74) - Sheldon Dries (76) - Rudolfs Balcers (76) Alex Formenton (78) - Nick Paul (74) - Cory Conacher (75) Mike Klimchuk (75) - Jake Studnicka (72) - Toby Reider (78) Max Lajoie (78) - Ben Harper (78) C Jaros (77) - Paul Ladue (78) Erik Brannstrom (72) - Victor Soderstrom (74) Gustvasson (72) Hornquist (66) Would it be wise to move Vallin down the line up? I have +3 on both my top 2 lines and Vallin's role is "scoring AHL forward". So I assumed that means top 6 AHL? My other top prospect is a 67 who I signed thinking he would progress before the season started. No dice there. I think i can place him on the 3rd pairing or be the fill in guy and see some growth. Does that sound right?
  10. Damn that nurse is getting paid like a doctor.
  11. I would be worried his game might fall off without our goalie coach. He has credited his goalie coach for saving his game. Can he stay the same tender with another voice trying to change his game? Can he stay on his game without his go to coach that saved his career?
  12. I know people probably don't read these but I enjoy putting them out there cuz its fun. 2020 Ottawa Senators - Post Draft Update We made a splash on draft day packaging up the 13th OA Pick along with Buffalo's 1st in 2021, and John Moore for the 3rd Overall Selection in the 2020 Entry Draft via Edmonton. The Oilers then traded back further from 13 in a deal with Seattle collecting more assets. We also moved pick 32, pick 59, and a goalie prospect for 28th OA. 2nd Overall: Mikko Vallin (73 OA Med Elite LW) 3rd Overall: Eino Laakonen (67 OA Med Elite RD) 28th Overall: Tuukka Alavaara (63 OA Low Elite RD) 33rd Overall: Don Baumgartner (61 OA Top 4 LD Gem) 65th Overall: Sergei Frolov (59 OA Med Elite G) 89th Overall: Jan Mysak (57 OA Low Top 6 F) 107th Overall: Mason Ricci (47 OA High Backup G) 120th Overall: Tiny Kahn (58 OA Low top 6 F) 143th Overall: Dean Mcelhinney (54 OA Med Bottom 6 F) 224th Overall: Wilson Komisarek (55 OA High 7th D) Mikko Vallin and Eino Laakonen have been offered ELC's. We will see where they are at come training camp. Tuukka Alavaara may be ready for AHL minutes after a strong off-season. We will reassess where he is at closer to training camp. We moved out Carter Hutton, Cody Eakin, and Matt Martin for Anton Khudobin and some picks. Did the whole find trade thing and got offered Anton Khudobin and a 4th for Eakin. Wanted to find a legit #1 tender - may explore free agency and move DeSmith. Was taking a long look at Crawford - feel his age works perfectly with our young kids timeline. Our coach is due for a contract extension and no replacements have become available. Offered him a 1 year extension when he wanted 4. He has only 52% fit with our team currently - I'd like to replace him but I don't want to enter the off-season without a coach. Chabot is asking for 8.7 x 8 but has turned it down from me. He wants to see what free agency might offer him.. I am debating whether to hold out on him or move him for someone like Theodore. VGK is rebuilding in this game mode so I could see them as a realistic fit. I only saw one gem in the entire 2020 class which was baumgartner, I am curious to see how the gems work in NHL 20. We definitely took a risk moving Buffalo's pick unprotected but our goal is win asap. Anywho that is the latest update!
  13. Probably will be winding down then. Someone said recently on these forums he doesn't have a lot of miles on him.. that doesn't make sense though because he has continued to play hockey even if it wasn't in the NHL he was still playing a ton of minutes in the AHL. I would be scared of offering a lot of term. I personally would like to see him back on a 3-4 year deal but the market will probably dictate he gets 5-6 which isn't smart for us unless there is no trade or expansion protection. That would at least allow us 1 more year to see if Demko's play is real and sustainable.. but why would he agree to that? teams will offer him protection from Seattle and possibly a modified NTC.
  14. Virtanen and Stecher both have arb rights and could get up to 3m if it went to arbitration. So lets say they get between 5-6M combined. Motte you can probably get around 1.5M for sure. Marky's agent wanted 6-6.5M from the sounds of it prior to the playoff run. He probably gets 6M minimum - he might be able to hold out for 6.5-7M from the right team. Tofolli we might be able to get between 4.5-5.5M - I think he loves it here and would take between 4.5-5M. I didn't even realize Gaudette was up - great eye. I personally feel he would be a great trade chip to dump some salary. That probably wouldn't be a popular take but he has a high perceived value. I think he's going to come back heavier and better so that is a scary player to think of moving. Gaudette has to be worth some money. He also could be offer-sheeted. If a team needs a potential 2nd line C down the road if you overpaid him via an offer sheet we might not be able to match. Lets say his value is 2-2.5M i dont know its actual value. If a team offered 3.5M x 3-4 years. i'm not sure we could match that. We also have to figure how much we want to pay for a 3rd line C.. We will have Petey and Bo making some serious cheddar in a year. I know Bo is on a sweetheart deal but regardless its going to be a lot of salary, it could reach 12-15M easily for the two of them.
  15. I agree I think he will do well. People need to realize though we needed the vets to get out of the play-in vs Minny and they have been immensely helpful to our youth and culture. Now that we have experienced youth and culture we can start to move "some" of the veterans out but it may cost assets. We as a fanbase need to accept we are going to lose some prospects or picks likely to do it. Think of those assets being spent as part of the investment into our core. With that said.. We may need to keep a couple veterans around to help maintain the culture. Eddie and Tanev would be ideal candidates but if Tanev goes we may need to keep a Sutter or Roussel. I didn't realize how important Sutter was to our kids until we saw him comforting Quinn on the bench vs Vegas when he was getting down on himself. He is a piece we can probably hang on to and re-sign on the cheap - he'd be worth keeping imo. Maybe they can agree to an extension this summer or perhaps we wait so he isn't expansion eligible as a UFA. Either way folks. We have come a hell of a long way. That feeling of beating Minny gave us all chills and hope for the future. We can thank Jim for his drafting and the veterans he brought in to be a stabilizing force to support the kids. Now we need to focus on turning gears from being a good team to become a great one. That is going to cost assets to acquire pieces and its going to cost assets to move players out. Podkolzin, Lind, and Hoglander all look to have top 9 potential. Now we just need to fill out our bottom six and add a good transitional D or 2. We have Juolevi and Rathbone who might be able to help. But we could use a RHD who has been transitioning skills then Tanev for Quinn. Edler is que the same summer as Quinn and Petey. Maybe he will take a supreme discount to finish his career here on a high note!
  16. Have a few more to boot. I've been busy since the trade freeze what can I say. I have essentially hauled over my entire sheet. Moved every contract that makes me cringe and added some young and veteran pieces I really like. It's been a good off-season! Have a more few more tricks up my sleeve. I'm always down to talk trade you know that p.o ^^
  17. MOVES THIS OFF-SEASON IN JERSEY Additions: To NJD - DAL 2020 1st Round Pick (8th OA) (This pick will start what we hope is a new era of great success in NJ.) To NJD - Dylan Larkin (Acquiring a player of Larkin's caliber was essential in our rebuild plans as having a true #1 C adds stability to our organization.) To NJD - Phillip Broberg (We lucked out in acquiring Broberg, we parted with a piece we dearly loved in Juolevi but we are thrilled to add a large speedy defender like Broberg.) To NJD - Joel Eriksson-Ek (An underrated two-way center with size, grit, and some snarl. I was very impressed with his play vs van in the play-ins. Happy to add him to the fold.) To NJD - Jesse Puljujarvi (A favorite of mine for quite some time. I had him in another league but had to move him. Happy to give Jesse a fresh start in 20-21.) To NJD - Maxime Lajoie (A smooth skating young D man with some NHL experience. Love the way this kid transitions the puck and has a good shot.) To NJD - Antti Raanta (A solid starter who can when healthy often reaches another level of dominance. We are hoping we can better manage his load for a healthier season.) To NJD - Justin Schultz (A skilled defender who has struggled since a leg injury in 18-19. We are hopeful he can rebound and have a good season on a new team next year.) To NJD - Casey DeSmith (An underrated tender who has posted great numbers in the NHL. He is primed and ready for NHL opportunity. We see a potential starter in DeSmith.) To NJD - Cale Fleury (A hard hitting 2-way defender who we believe can grow into dependable Top 4 D man. We believe Cale will be a big part of our teams future.) To NJD - Nikita Zaitsev (A dependable Top 4 D man on a relatively good contract. Not on the best of NHL team's now but that will change when we peak.) To NJD - Brent Seabrook (A veteran stallion with loads of experience. We managed to add some picks well bringing in a former cup winner. It was a win win.) To NJD - Jayce Hawryluk (A useful forward who showed some offensive potential near seasons end. We want to help him succeed in a 3rd line role.) To NJD - Gabriel Carlsson (A promising depth D who we feel deserves a crack at the NHL. With a cap crunch looming we hope he gets some ice time in CBJ moving forward.) To NJD - Marshall Warren (A smooth, fast skating defender with great mobility. Definitely some upside to this kid and he was drafted by Minny and they know their D.) To NJD - Allan McShane (A promising young kid who may have a future in the NHL. It's to early to say but we like his progress to date.) To NJD - Amir Miftakhov (A young tender with good numbers - we like his progression and took him on as a long term option. You never know with these kinds of goalies.) To NJD - Trevor Lewis (A veteran bottom six forward we can rely on to help grind down the opposition. We believe he may have value come the TDL.) To NJD - Travis Boyd (A depth center who we believe is ready for full time 4th line minutes. We believe he can help us win games.) To NJD - Zach Bogosian (A veteran D who is a pending UFA in the NHL this summer. Still only 30 and playing some big minutes in Tampa.) Subtractions: To ANA - Max Pacioretty (Sad to see Max go, but we have decided to go in a new direction. It doesn't make sense retaining Patches at his current cap hit.) To ANA - Shayne Gostisbehere (Ghost is going to rebound I am sure of it. Sad to see him go but he provided us the opportunity to move our way up to 8.) To ARZ - Vitaly Abramov (May be due for a breakout next season with the Sens. Had a strong couple game stint in the NHL. We hope he excels in ARZ.) To CGY - Travis Sanheim (Travis is a personal favorite of mine, love his upside but to acquire a 1st line center you have to give up quality.) To CGY - Robby Fabbri (Robby is an enigma to some but I have loved how his game has transformed in DET. Sad to see him depart but happy its to a good team.) To CGY - Olli Juolevi (A very difficult decision, Juolevi is a personal favorite - I love his swagger. Managed to get a younger asset that better fits my future core.) To CGY - Lias Andersson (Promising kid who hasn't found his game in NY. Wish him the best but he had no real future here in NJ after sitting out the 19-20 season.) To CGY - Jakub Zboril (Promising young kid who just hasn't made it yet. We are hopeful his move to Calgary sparks something in his career.) To CGY - Yakov Trenin (Imposing forward with a large frame and soft hands. What isn't to like.. have to give to get though.) To CGY - Wayne Simmonds (A great briefly addition, who got almost instantly subtracted. I have a lot of respect for Wayne but his cap hit wasn't feasible for us.) To DAL - Ryan Dzingel (Talented winger on a great NHL team. Wishing him the best in DAL with that great forward group they got there.) To DAL - Dustin Wolf (Talented young tender, we wish him well - just not the right goalie for us.) To NSH - Dylan Strome (Dylan could be a star in this league one day, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to add two quality guys in Puljujarvi and Eriksson-Ek.) To NSH - Gustav Nyquist (Gustav no longer fit our plans, we did our due diligence to find him a good home. We wish him well in NSH.) To STL - Sergei Bobrovsky (A world class tender - but our management team is completely against paying goaltenders over 7M per season.) To STL - Alex Nedeljkovic ( The Canes goalie of the future. Tough to swallow but managed to dump a heavy contract and make room for the future.) To STL - Cody Eakin (This was simply a cap dump. We loved Cody's hard game but his cap hit wasn't jiving with our internal budget. Best of luck in STL.) To STL - Braydon Coburn (A long time NJ veteran, Unfortunately hasn't been able to consistently stay in the line-up. We wish him luck in STL.) We have a few more moves pending playoff eliminations. We wish everyone well. We will be looking to make some more moves leading up to the draft! Hoping you all stay safe! Will update future additions/subtractions later this off-season. Cheers!
  18. There goes the pick countless gm's were all after
  19. ya pearson is good on the boards but Podkolzin will be ready then. Place him in the middle six on that left side and we are roaring.
  20. So your saying he's not a goalie guy Good thing we got Jimbo who is an expert scout :D
  21. Virtanen, Stecher, prospect, Eriksson for Domi. they have the cap space - eriksson works his ass off. he might thrive in their system lol.

  23. Thanks @Tylez . This move provides me some much needed forward depth. We were looking really thin upfront after several off-season trades. We will focus our efforts on re-signing our RFA's and seeing if we can find some seasoned pieces leading up to the draft. We currently sit with Picks 8, 32, 51, 67, and 79. We would like to move up in the top 10-22 with 2 of the later 4 picks. Open to options. Also listening to offers on Picks 32 and 51 separately for young NHL upgrades.
