[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
Rush17 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
How do you know what Jim hates? lol. Like seriously... Jim made him the director of scouting because he liked what he brought to the table. Hate.. such a strong word that should not be used lightly. Did they have disagreements? no doubt.. dislike each other I doubt even that. -

Jim was giddy over the fact they would get Petey. I don't buy the whole "Jim had to be sold on petey". -
[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
Rush17 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
@-Vintage Canuck- Thanks for the tweets. So Jim gave Brackett an opportunity of the lifetime... He nurtured him... Then Judd wants a fresh start because he wants more say. Why is Jim being vilified here? Judd got his opportunity because Jim took a chance on him. We are fine we have plenty of capable scouts. The love affair with this man in bananas.- 583 replies

Expected NJ Playoff Lineup Patches - Strome - Oshie Caamano - Dzingel - Nyquist Nordstrom - Trenin - Hartman Andersson - Luostarinen - Cehlarik Ghost - Myers Sanheim - Coburn Zboril - Rafferty Juolevi Goalie Bob Nedeljkovic Qualifying for the 24 team play-in was a surprise to say the least. We will take this opportunity as a team and show the league what remains in our hearts! The desire to improve and go for one last hurray! Good times ahead! [Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
Rush17 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Judd only reached his level of exceptionalism because of the structure and belief Jim Benning created and placed in him. I wish him the best and we will do just fine without him. Give it 2 years and this won't seem like big news. Judd was the director of scouting. All of those NCAA recommendations came from the entire scouting staff not just Judd. Best of luck fella. We want to win a cup and I trust Jim's talent evaluation over that of Judd. Jim has a ring and was the one that transformed our scouting department. I have no fears.- 583 replies

Make your selections to be known! A general poll to gauge the fans on who they think will win after this long break! Will the young kids make huge strides? Will the veterans be even better with proper rest? Who will take the win and claim the egg! Good luck, have fun out there! 5 vs 12 Edmonton Oilers (5) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (12) Pittsburgh Penguins (5) vs. Montreal Canadiens (12) 6 vs 11 Nashville Predators (6) vs. Arizona Coyotes (11) Carolina Hurricanes (6) vs. New York Rangers (11) 7 vs 10 Vancouver Canucks (7) vs. Minnesota Wild (10) New York Islanders (7) vs. Florida Panthers (10) 8 vs 9 Calgary Flames (8) vs. Winnipeg Jets (9) Toronto Maple Leafs (8) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (9)

This Judd Brackett storyline is honestly exhausting. When Jim Benning took over the team he said he had to retrain the entire scouting staff to look for components he wanted to see in players. part of that process was teaching the scouting staff the terminology and attributes Jim wanted to bring into the team. Jim saw something in Judd when he was a relatively new jr scout. He promoted him way ahead of what his normal progression would be. Judd probably wants the best player available as where Jim and Wisebrod are looking for the character players you can win with. From here out we don't need all high end skill. We need character guys who fit what we are trying to build. The whole notion there is a rift in the front office is just silly. J.D Burke is a troll and likes to fuel this narrative. When Jim eventually moves on and another GM comes in his old washed up tricks won't work on the fan base anymore. He is super hyper critical and does it to gain views on 1040. If Judd doesn't want to remain here that is ok. Jim can find a replacement.. Judd didn't scout all those NCAA players.. Judd is the voice between the scouting department and Jim. Judd was probably put in that role because of his ability to mediate and provide a strong bridge between the execs and the scouting staff. If Judd signs that is fantastic. But this reporting over the last few weeks have been way overblown.

This whole situation with the play-in or a 1st round lottery pick is so exciting to me. We get a taste of the post-season and if things fall apart we get to keep our 1st? Some around here want to get rid of our 1st this year so next years isn't a lottery pick. Our team is on the rise though.. We are not the San Jose Sharks nearing the end of their window. We have a young core with some good veteran pieces. There is no way this team gets anything but better incrementally over the next few seasons. I can't see how this isn't a win either way.

NJ has made another trade! Sergei Bobrovsky's contract is off the books. (following post season)
-
Miller - Pettersson - Toffoli Pearson - Horvat - Boeser Ferland - Gaudette - Virtanen Roussel - Beagle - Motte Sutter, MacEwan, Leivo (if healthy) would be my guess for forward group. Sutter's passing game is meh so Gaudette makes a more clear choice unless they want beags at 3C and have Gaudette with Sutter and Roussel. Are we missing any forwards? Its been so long i feel I may be missing someone. (I forgot Motte who feel deserves to be ahead of Sutter imo - Sutter is pretty clutch tho so that may be a bad idea)

Me 2. I want to buy a player out lol

The Best 5's are a "Play In" for the playoffs. I think considering the language they use will be helpful. I know it comes across as an extension of the playoff bracket but if its a "play in". It means it isn't necessary a direct part of the playoffs. Even if they are playing a Bo5 which is like a playoff format.. lol why do they have to make it so confusing.
-
One option would be to count buy in round towards regular season points then start the playoffs based off of round of 16. Or skip entirely all points during the buy in and start playoffs with top 16 teams in NHL and FL. It's unfair to all teams that 7 teams will not be competing. Just two random ideas. Not sure if it's feasible with pickup

Based off of proposed NHL Draft Playoff Schedule. The season would end for the following 7 teams picks. We are unsure if other teams will rejoin the draft lottery upon elimination in the 24 team bracket if approved. As of right now though; if the plan is approved the following teams would likely be given lottery picks. 2020 GML DRAFT LOTTERY ODDS Seed Ownership Original Team GM Top 3 Odds #1 OA NHL Club 1) Minnesota Wild (1930) Dak Prescott TBD TBD DET 2) Vegas Golden Knights (2570) Monty TBD TBD OTT 3) New York Rangers (2535) Rush17 TBD TBD SJSOTT 4) Chicago Blackhawks (3119) Sludge TBD TBD TBD 5) Philadelphia Flyers (3695) theo5789 TBD TBD TBD 6) Pittsburgh Penguins (3757) ActionJax09 TBD TBD TBD 7) Carolina Hurricanes (3822) Tony Romo TBD TBD TBD Hope we hear more about the playoff format and how it impacts us here once the NHL releases its official plans. This is a tricky situation to tailor the league too but I know our guys will make it work! Thanks to @Mike Vanderhoek @canuck2xtreme and @aGENT for his elc signings! (updated due to error. please inform me if u see any errors. We may see more teams added potentially after the play in or we may not)

EKL Fantasy Keeper League 2019-20 season
Rush17 replied to Primal Optimist's topic in Fantasy Hockey
I think this league might be toast if we have 12 vacant GM spots. Whats the point of playing if everyone has left? I'd like to see the playoff results tho at the very least if the league is shutting down. We have built some fun teams. -

I know its downtime but I wanted to make it clear well also testing out my new formatting for a team profile. Sorry for dominating the FL posts! NJ is entering a 5 Year Rebuild Plan that starts in 2020. We will be preparing for our first playoff appearance in 2025 followed by what we hope is a long string of successful years with what we hope is our own drafted and developed talent in NJ. I am by no means a good scout but I want to take a crack at it to see if I can become a better eye for talent. If anyone on this list slightly intrigues you! Now is the time. We will be keeping competitive guys to show the next generation the ropes. Ryan Hartman, Antti Raanta, and Joakim Nordstrom are veterans we hope can help carry this load. If you have any questions. I'm on here or discord and typically reply within 6 hours or less. Fingers crossed this format comes out ok once posted.

NJ has added goaltender via trade with someone in the central. It looks like goalie bobs reign in New Jersey will be short lived as the writing is on the wall. Goalie Bob remains with the club and is available for acquisition. NJ has lowered their price to a late third last week. He could potentially be had for a B-prospect right now.

Open to offers on several other young players. Looking to acquire a First and / or a Second Round Pick via Trade for the 2020 Draft. I am willing to move any of these players to achieve those ends. Sergei Bobrovsky will be bought out if no one wants him for a 3rd Round Pick. I personally am not a GM that likes to pay goalies north of 7.5M to any goalie. Max Pacioretty is a player we are also considering as a buy-out candidate. He would remain a coveted asset even after this buyout window. We however are unsure if he will be involved in our plans moving forward. We will take the summer to decide internally if no one is interested in acquiring him. We are willing to take back Top 6 Forward on a shorter/cheaper term deal and a 3rd Round Pick for Patches if it makes sense. (Open to non playoff players if they fit our criteria). Hit us up to ask. NJ is now entering a rebuild phase and is open season for trades. The organization will not be moving Alex Newhook but the rest of the team could be had for the right price.

We are excited to sign Travis to a 1 year extension. We felt it would be best to see what he gets on his next contract with the Flyers before signing anything long term. We are thrilled Ryan was willing to work with us here in NJ and are happy to have him on board for 4 more seasons! You need players like him to be competitive and win in this league. We are happy to have him here for the foreseeable future and hope to re-sign him again in 4 years time! Trenin and Andersson are happy re-signs. We will have cap flexibility with them. They can go to the minors and earn max salary without an NHL penalty if they are in the minors. Definitely a win / win situation for both players as they establish themselves as everyday NHler's. Trenin finished the season with the Preds and we hope to see his progression continue in the NHL when the season resumes!
