Commentator in Sweden on Pettersson and Dahlen: https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1410/zanier-dahlen-is-a-hockey-nerd-with-a-passion-to-improve-1.1053058 Al though the title says Dahlen is a hockey nerd he is actually talking about Pettersson in that section of the interview. (Their staff took a day off I think) Talks about the battles adjustments Elias has made since the playoffs have start. Sounds like he primarily followed Vaxjo but he saw some of Dahlen's placement series.

Dahlen arrives today! Where is Canucks tv when you need them. I want that all exclusive like Gaudette lol. Comets tv any good? Think they got some media
-
You know will win it if he says that lol
-
Even 1 half decent winger and he can probably put up some respectable numbers. Nothing like the pressure of fans thinking you a 50-70 point player as a rookie lol
-
Ya haha. 45-70 was my original. Prob should scale it back. I can see him reaching 75 tho. Quality of linemates be the biggest factor. If he's with Sutter and Archie all season maybe closer to the 40 mark lol. if he gets a Dahlen and Virtanen tho. ^^
-
I'm guessing between 45-75 points as well. If he finished 45 or below i would be surprised. This guy is next level.
-
It looks like his team might have the ability to end it before game 7 tho. They are a very strong team. His play only elevates them to an even more epic level.
-
So we can win Rasmus Dahlin in the lottery the same day Elias Pettersson could win the SHL championship? That would be one hell of a day
-
He's a serious dude lol. Rather focus on winning a championship then get praised for a season well played.
-
I agree but I don't think the Vancouver media will be so patient. They might give him until Christmas or the trade deadline before getting on his case lol. Our d core just needs an overhaul and sticking him on this patchwork d isn't really fair to him or our goalies. Markstrom might actually be a decent goalie on a good defensive team. Edler, Stecher are locks. Pouliot is probably in the mix of Gudbranson and Hutton. If they fit they fit. If they don't we move them. Tanev is kinda in the "do we keep him? Or do we move him camp?" He's a great defenders but has been super unlucky health wise as of late. I was all for moving Tanev at the draft now I'm worried his value won't be there. That season ending injury did not help.

Sounds like demko lead the way. I am excited for Johnathan but we don't know how seemlessly this transition may go. It may take him a week, two, possibly 3 to get adjusted. I believe he's further along than Lind tho and his skating is off the walls. Then again Jasek dominated from the start coming from the top Czech league. Anything is possible.
-
I wish Juolevi's coach preached the same message lol. Dahlen and Pettersson's coaches both preaching the same message. Its nice to see their coaches care.
-
Elias' Coach interviewed. Message is be patient with Pettersson he's still only 19.

The league can change a lot on 4-5 seasons. I think we are well on our way. Have those quotes been verified? Its been so long since back then lol. I think we have a lot of the pieces we need. If we had of not gotten screwed in the draft lottery so many times we might be a far deeper team. Let's replace Juolevi with Laine and imagine where we are at. I believe we would be a borderline playoff team. High offense weak defense perhaps. Maybe we wouldn't of traded for Gudbranson if we went the high speed and skill route. But then again. We might not have green here as our coach. I am happy where we are at. Our future is bright and full of only potential. Even if their initial projections were off it's ok. Benning also didn't know about the amount of injuries we suffer. He probably thought it was just poor medical staff. So he opts to replace that and it continues. Having Seattle in our division will help the team greatly having less travel to a team like Arizona would be huge. Sign me up.

Might need a year or two in the A before getting a sniff at the NHL. Excited to see him suit up for Utica though when the time comes. Think he makes the Canucks team in 2-3 years as a full timer. Unless he does something bananas and translates seemlessly. I feel his skating needs some work tho.
-
I can't get enough of these lol. This kid is do gold. Probably the best prospect we got. His potential ceiling is higher then any other player in our system or our NHL club. Boeser is freaking amazing. I can only envision what those 2 and Dahlen would look like as a trio. Dahlen - Pettersson - Boeser That line in 5 years could haunt opposing defenders dreams lol. Dahlen super clutch too. Reminds me of burrows and his clutchness. Its way to soon to draw conclusions some of these guy may not be what we imagine but the sky appears to be the limit for this kid.

Originally believed to be a top pairing #2 D man. That's what Benning and many others said. Button compared him to SJS Marc Edward-Vlasic. Steady smooth d man that can transition the puck up the ice and make a great first pass. I would argue his game has evolved and that player comp may be outdated. He is still a PPQB but now on the second best team in the regular season. (Instead of just Junior). He arrives at big games ready to go and always seems to helps his team when they need it most. Olli drive play in their last game and assisted on 2 of the important goals including the game tying goal if what I've heard is correct. Jim Benning recently lowered expectations to him being a top D man. That is probably a very smart move as it will lower the expectations and pressure here in Vancouver when he arrives. One would hope. The high end comparable being tossed around is a nick Lidstrom light. A tad high to compare this early but he's very poised, makes the right play, and is establishing himself as a big game clutch performer.

Canucks way article: Click here to read No. 1 – LW Jonathan Dahlén (Timrå IK, SHL) Did you notice something different? For the first time this season, I have designated Timrå in the SHL. You know what that means. Jonathan Dahlén led his favourite team growing up back to the SHL! Down 3-1 in the promotion series, Timrå rallied back to win three consecutive times and move up from the Allsvenskan. Dahlén’s team has not been in the SHL since 2013. The talented winger had 14 points in the playoffs, leading his team. 18 years ago, a certain player did the same thing. This special person was like Dahlén. He also played in Timrå and was instrumental in promoting the team to the SHL (called the Swedish Elite League back then). That player also led Timrå with 14 points and like Dahlén, led the team in points during every year they were there. Henrik Zetterberg is that player. He was Dahlén’s favourite when he was little. Zetterberg is still remembered as a hero to this day for promoting Timrå to the big league. Do you believe in destiny? Dahlén will likely be remembered for doing the same. Canucks way article: Click here to read **More in article including a video of young Dahlen doing his best Zetterberg impersonation. Its cute very cute. This is only a 1/3 of the post - recommend the full read/video experience**

Page 3 which is linked is all Elias. Has some interesting write-ups on a few of our top prospects https://thecanuckway.com/2018/04/10/vancouver-canucks-top-prospects-week-25-dahlen-pettersson-jasek/amp/3/

Lol ya I would imagine it's hard. He is slated to arrive Wednesday. Practice Thursday. Then they hope to get him in some games this weekend. To me some would be 2 of the 3 games. Whether that be Saturday Sunday or Friday Sunday. Or what not. we shall see how it goes. Motte, Goldie, and Sautner arrive tonight.
-
It appears they want to go slow with him. He is expected to arrive very soon along with Motte, Goldobin, and Sautner. They feel it's best to start him off slow and see where his game is at (at) the AHL level. They will monitor his ice time and how he's doing. If he does well he will be given more responsibilies. Slow and steady for Dahlen. I suspect he will blow their doors off. Utica has 3 games this weekend before the playoffs. Dahlen is expected to play friday after some practice Thursday. Utica is likely going to face the Marlies Toronto's farm team or the crunch i believe Tampa's team. Both are very good team.

Audio interview: Johnson https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1410/johnson-dahlen-will-get-chance-to-play-in-utica-1.1052721

It appears if he is given a chance to play for the world championships he will likely go there. They do not wish to deny him that honour and feel being around NHL players in that environment would be great for his development. If for whatever reason him going to represent Finland falls through. Johnson would love to have him in Utica and they believe he could have an immediate impact and help the team in the playoffs. Sounds to me like top 4 minutes for sure to start. Time shall tell.
