  2. Welcome, yeah, I think it´s more his style. He is not the one taking slaphots from distance. He is rather looking for different solution and can use his speed for that. He really likes to pass the puck back to defenders and I found it as a nice option when playing on a strong team trying to dominate the opponent. In other words, he was not panicking and rather tried to create something instead of taking easier shots.
  3. So I promised to add something on Martin Nečas. I tracked some data and watched him play in the Czech Extraliga. The thing that scares me a little was a context in which he played the season. He started on the first line alongside Martin Erat and Marek Kvapil, two experienced guys and stars in the league. Then he was bumped around a lot. He was not trusted by coaches as he averaged drop more than a minute from period 1 to period 3 in time on ice. Then, he was used mainly in the offensive zone. His team won the title and his possession numbers were above average but considering the context, nothing special in my eyes. He was the creative guy on the ice most of the time, much more in playmaking role (paradoxically he had more goals than assists at even strength). When entering the zone he tried to carry the puck instead of dumping in but his share of zone entries was not big overall. He had 18% shooting percentage which is not easy to repeat. I liked his play in his own end. He was able to escape out of trouble or to find creative passes under pressure when on the puck. He has a quick feet and can use them for his advantage in these situations. To summarize, he had a solid season, he was aware in his own end. He showed creative plays resulting in zone exits or creating good position on offense. In my opinion he was not that exciting in zone entries and in offence generally (the question is what was his role on the ice). To compare, I liked Filip Chytil´s offensive game more. Martin is the most complete Czech prospect going into the draft but I can see some uncertainty here.
  4. Haha, thank you. To be honest, I don´t consider myself the right person giving scouting report. On the other hand, I have watched Necas play for many games and I tracked some data for him. So I can contribute to his thread and will do.
  5. Good for him! I am personally happy and he is going to a team that puts lot of emphasis on doing things right. Liberec was first Czech club that openly admitted using advanced stats. They put emphasis on both data and video analysis. Their young coach is a student of a game and I believe his intentions will be to put Jasek in a good spot for him to succeed, Of course only time will tell. But I like much more him playing for Liberec than Trinec.

    Random - DATA

    ...
  10. Jasek had a very good game today against Switzerland. His line was the best from Czechs in 3-4 overtime loss. I tracked even strength Corsi for players and here are the results. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1smHtfyExIAz_0XhrdA0nwzkL-PgCRXNO0B5LeKTqqLI/pubchart?oid=1282300778&format=interactive Best players in the upper right area - Kalina, Jasek, Chlapik and Zboril.
  11. A chance to watch Lukas Jasek play today! The game starts in 3 hours 15 minutes. He should wear no. 40 for a team in red jerseys.
  12. Back to 5:52 in the game against strong Liberec team. He was -2 in the 1-2 loss.
  13. Ladies and gentlemen, Jasek played 14:12 tonight! 4:37 in 1st period 3:33 in 2nd period 6:02 in 3rd period He played on the wing. Trinec played against last placed team in Karlovy Vary, won 3-0 but all goals scored in 3rd.
  14. Oh, it is kinda hard for me, I don´t really know. Maybe he looks like Russian style forward - Semin? He little bit reminds me of Pavel Bure, but just by his look on the ice, not with all the speed and killing goalscoring touch, haha.
  15. Unfortunately I didn´t watch Jasek that closely shift by shift but at least some highlights that caught my attention. You could see he is one of the most skilled players on the team, his strength are his smarts, unusual and quick decisions and quickness on the forecheck (even though he was not used that much, played a center and was usually skating around middle of the ice. Few highlights: - He escaped his own corner under the pressure and zone with a puck on his stick by smart moves (rejecting two forechecking players) - He created a big chance on the forecheck around blueline where he stole a puck (was not a goal) - He scored on PP, was left alone in front of goalie after bad giveaway, shot it low and scored on rebound (before the play he smartly jumped in the middle in o-zone and had a good shot - He tried to create space for teammates by skilled passes going against flow of plays He played 3rd line center, was used a lot on PK and 2nd PP ... I think he looked above other players on skill level but was not greater force as it was maybe hard for him to have a chemistry with his team (sometimes, team is now struggling). Anyway, limited view.
  16. So today my hometown team HC Zubr Prerov played Frydek-Mistek in WSM Liga (yes, it is second tier league in the Czech). Jasek scored a goal but his team lost 2-6. I will receive the video from the game and will analyze it for coaches of Prerov. I may add some personal opinion on his play.
  17. I already wrote a post (page 7) here trying to explain the situation that can still happen in the Czech League. Team management can still be "old school" style where ice time is distributed according salaries on the roster and veterans therefore play first or second line minutes plus power play. Fortunatelly, this is slowly changing and there are teams giving opportunity to young players (at least 12 mins per game - eg. David Kase in Chomutov) and some teams welcoming youngsters (Vitkovice, Pardubice). Unfortunatelly, Trinec does not appear to be trending that way so for Jasek it is not fair competition to be put in. I believe stubborness instead of developing a player some way plays role for managers many times (for a trade to happen team B (sometimes even parents contribute) must pay to team A). But I don´t have any evidence for the Jasek situation so take it please just as my own opinion. Anyway, some numbers for Jasek in the Czech League: 4 GP, 0 PTS, 5 Shot attempts (3 on goal), AVG TOI = 8:06, AVG PP TOI = 0:01, AVG SH TOI = 0:01, Face-offs = 9/16, PIM = 0, Plus minus = +1
