  1. Mixed feelings on this.
CDC was a great place to chat when we were on the same page or even open to healthy debate on all things Canucks. Yet when topics veered to non hockey controversial topics, I felt some on here displayed some abusive and personally targeted behaviour and comments. At the end of the day it was yet another example of people feeling brave in taking pot shots at people and their opinions while hiding anonymously in private behind a computer or device.

I will really miss the trade posts and PGT. I spent many great hours revelling on wins with my fellow Canuckheads. Pretty disappointed that this seems to be an organizational decision but as I’ve said all along, these athletes are human and the vitriol and sometimes personal shots taken at these guys was oftentimes way over the top.

News flash: millionaire hockey players use the internet.

RIP CDC. It was a mixed bag.

    Peace out!!!

I’d sign Nick Ritchie and then move Joshua up to the 3rd line.

    Kuzmenko      Pettersson     Mikheyev

    Höglander      Miller              Boeser

    Joshua           Suter              Garland

    Ritchie           Blueger           Podkolzin

    Pearson

This would be more like a Rick Tocchet team. The 4th line can grind down the opposition. And we have 2 legit fighters in Ritchie and Joshua.

Beauviller can be waived and sent to Abby. He doesn’t fit on the 3rd or 4th line. And I’d rather go with Höglander on the 2nd line.  Di Guseppe can also be waived.

I could see Mikheyev being LTIR option for cap reasons to start the season. Lots of hints out there that he’s not ready for camp at 100%.

Another sub 6 foot player, was starting to get worried after we signed Cole and Soucy that we forgot our undersized forward roots. Not that Blueger is particularly big himself. Another left handed forward too. Cause right handed players are a blight on society and who needs em. With Pearson supposedly coming back. Gonna be really hard for Hogs and Podz to really find a footing on the roster.

    Kuz - Petey - Mik

    Beau - Miller - Boeser

    Blueger - Suter -  Garland

    Joshua - Aman - ?

That leaves Studnicka, Hoglander, PDG, Podkolzin and Pearson. And Dries I guess. But meh. Does Blueger go to 4C and move Aman out?

Watch for Miller on the wing a bit more this year. I could see Nils Aman climbing up the line up this year. I don’t see management visualizing this addition as a demotion for him. More so an opportunity for him to push for a middle six spot.

Just watch him drop 50pts next year, get a massive deal and then dip again.

He's probably worth 2-3M so this is fair.

Florida lose Gudas though and replace him with OEL and Mike Reilly? They lose a lot of identity and toughness on their blueline to just get more slim puck movers. Now Ekblad is the only one out there with some grit.

OEL has a bit of a temper. Had some good compete in him most nights. Look at me getting nostalgic. I suck.

Still haven’t addressed a partner for Hughes.

I hope they’re looking at that first. Something involving Garland for Tanev would be a good short term solution.

Orlov to The 'Canes sure brings up questions about Pece's future there. This management group are quite stealth and a bit sneaky in their endeavours. Seems highly unlikely but that would be a huge exclamation mark for this group following through in its stated intentions.

This is a “we want our young guys to develop in the minors instead of sitting on the bench” move.

Irwin is a solid, dependable veteran who will be a perfect 7-8 injury replacement.

Great insulator addition. Open to going to Abby if need be. Big body. Low money. Nice, frugal decisions by this management team. We asked for some work on the blue line and these guys have delivered without anchoring us to bad contracts for years to come. Really impressed.

So, Soucy, Cole and Irwin all added to the left side. I thought they would make space for Hirose after his great showing late last season. Hopefully they have a plan for Akito as I don't want him to be press-box surfing and getting cold like Rathbone last year.

If Hirose is on the opening day lineup, he will have to earn it. Nice audition late last season but if that was enough to earn him a spot open on an NHL blue line then we suck as a team. All these D signings are legit. This team needs depth and competition on the back end. Keep it coming.

He can play both, but so can Cole who played a lot as a RD on a top pairing.

I would probably try Cole with Hughes and see if you can turn Soucey-Hronek into an all around minute munching match up pairing.

Soucey is kind of the key to how things go for the team.  This is a big jump in expectations for him, if he can do it… that pairing could take so much pressure off Hughes it would have a big ripple effect.

Also, how is Demko with an average defence in front of him rather than a dog’s breakfast.  Can the forwards suddenly be freed up because they don’t have to protect a bad defence?  Can the new D get the pick up ice better?

This is going to be interesting.  We are asking a lot more of Cole/Soucey/Blueger than their previous teams were.

Really feeling that Myers is wrongfully overlooked here. He'll be a perfect fit with this group now that he can slide up and down the line up without gifting minor leaguers top pairing assignments. His size now really helps us. This D looks really good. I say keep Myers unless it gets us Pesce or another upgrade at 3C.

Still extremely baffling how people think this.  He is extremely overpaid and statistically one of the weaker defenders in the NHL.  Apart from his long neck and being a genuinely nice person, he has no redeeming on-ice qualities.  He's got a big body that's good at getting itself in the penalty box.

Could contain: Baseball Cap, Cap, Clothing, Hat, Person, Text, Helmet, Face, Head

    Thanks for the drama class.

People don't get it, a rebuild means without Petey or Hughes and they don't want it.

I’ve been saying the same thing since last season. Peeps keep saying we are giving too much clout and merit to these two players. That they aren’t bigger than the team blah blah blah.
You clean out the cupboards dry and tank organizationally (Chicago/Yotes/etc) these two walk.
Ownership won’t allow this. Hockey ops has a mandate. As insane as it seems the team wants to make noise in the Petey/Huggy prime years.
