Garland started the comeback vs Montreal. Seems to have his bite back. Drew a penalty tonight. Miller runs the power play which is top 10 in the league. Tough and edgy player. I’m so glad he’s signed. OEL is highly underrated on these boards. Get over how he got here and his cap hit and think of how much worse we would be without him in the line up. He tough as nails. Great with the puck. Runs the 2nd PP and plays huge minutes. Get over it and shake your head. Myers plays a run and gun style game. Same as OEL. When he’s out of the line up he is instantly missed. I said it so many times over the last couple of years. There are some really good players on this team. I still feel like there’s some growing that needs to happen but if they can start figuring out how to play together and be more consistent they will be dangerous at some point soon.

[Rumour] Canucks Getting Calls on Luke Schenn

I think giving Petey the captaincy could be a bad move. He clearly isn’t comfortable with the press and the extra hassle and awkwardness could work against his play on the ice. -
Absolutely. And to be clear, I'm trying to not come across as "holier than thou" in any way. For all my jabs at Friedman and Dhaliwal etc. I still tune in for pretty much all their content. I'm a fan and I like the entertainment value. I just find myself chuckling most of the time when their opinions sound a lot like yours and mine. Good, qualified opinions without much significant internal knowledge. Just really well articulated as opposed to a goon like me. Hehe

You're drinking the kool aid bud. That guy thrives on hyper vague dialogue and never has a bonafide source to back up anything he sys. He's lost in his own narrative most of the time. It's not his fault, it's his job and we all are entertained by it. I keep coming back to this but i feel these media types make it tough on players and affects their on ice play at times. Brock has been getting freaking crushed on these boards with all kinds of "over the line" commentary on him as a hockey player. Now this false and un needed hype. No wonder these guys have a hard time getting it together. Must be even worse playing in Toronto.

Yes. I sometimes think they have the same intel as anyone with a computer and internet browser. It's mostly fluff and you're gullible if you believe any of it. They rarely nail trade predictions. Any manager or GM openly disclosing ongoing organizational activity with a member of the (and I use this word generously) press will never work in pro sports.

You are grossly undervaluing Boeser. Watch him turn it on. Big Brock fan. Super popular team first guy. Pure goal scorer. He just needs to break away from the injury bug and get on a roll. Doesn’t help that he’s been playing with plugs this season. As soon as he played with Petey tonight he looked dangerous. Kuzy came in and took his spot but Brock was a way better player tonight.

I wonder what a trade/re-structuring involving Huggy and Petey would look like. These two are constantly cemented as untouchable yet there is a very strong possibility that their combined lack of leadership qualities are a deterrent. I’ve been thinking about this since their holdouts and especially since seeing the Sportsnet feature on the Hughes brothers last week. Good solid leadership has to start at the top of the roster from your best players and our best players are both seemingly coy and quiet personalities. Are these players leading by example? Are they vocal? Do they exude swagger and confidence? Im wondering if it’s time to turn the page on these marvellous players and look at re building with a different DNA at the foundation of the rebuild. Petey’s stock is at an all time high and Huggy’s contract is solid gold. I’m concerned we are fixated on the wrong solution when the seemingly only worthwhile parts of the future puzzle may in fact be the biggest and most important part of the problem.

My 54 year old war torn hockey injured mountain bike crashed beaten down body just winces seeing an injury like that. I don’t know how, as a goaltender, you ever return to perfect form after sustaining a hip or a knee injury like that. Demmer looked in agony going off. This could be real bad, people.
