Tick tock… Deja vu. Feels slot like last season already. Lots of talk and optimism. Giving games away they should’ve won. Flyers are a mess and beat us with a weak goalie and a group of third liners barring a decent player here and there. Not a bonafide star on the entire line up. Get it together fellas.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
bad alice french replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hate to say it 'cause I love the guy but the trade chip I'd like to see us use the most would be Brock. When rumours circulated 2 yrs ago on a possible Dumba trade I was all over it... much to the chagrin of most around these parts. He's on a good contract right now with no NMC as far as I can tell. If he gets hot and GM's start calling, he'd be first to go in my view. Even if he started tearing it up, a swap for a top 4/5 bonafide defender would be best for the club moving forward. If his skating was better I'd be more on the fence but I feel this is where he hurts himself the most. -

Ease up man. We are all over them.T They have the most dangerous passer on the planet and the top scorer in the world. These guys are for real. Tie game going into the third. Outshooting and out chancing them. They got the bounces and won the period. Time to bear down. -

[Signing] Blues re-sign Jordan Kyrou
bad alice french replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah the whole system is flawed and boring. Cap Escrow Cap Floor NTC's Crazy term on young players on and on... Also, with the game getting much younger, careers are shortening drastically phasing out many late twenty and early thirty players. Gotta wonder if that will affect the talent pool as fewer parents will be willing to put all that time and money into their kid's minor hockey etc. considering all this. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller
bad alice french replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For the most part this is still Jim Benning‘s team. That’s not a knock on the current management and head office but I feel that the final touches on this team are still to come. Our 22,23 and 24 year olds still haven’t filled out their fully grown bodies yet. They’ll be better this year and continue to grow as Patrick and Jim round this team out into a tougher, meaner and faster squad. That’s why the signing is so important. In two or three years JT is gonna be the exact type of player this team needs and his contract is gonna look pretty good at that point. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

Absolutely. I have never agreed with posters that suggests we don’t want to be “just” a playoff team but we want to be a championship “contending” team. You don’t get to that point without establishing a winning culture. We have some really good young pieces on this team with great goaltending. Start by getting into the postseason and build on it. With another year of growth from our younger studs and a full season with Bruce at the helm we should be good enough to get in this year. Once you’re in, there’s a magical run waiting for any team at any given time. That could be us or at least win a round or two and get rolling. Let’s go boys!!! -

He is definitely worthy of being part of that vision. With regards to the names of those other players he definitely is not holding us back. We need to insulate these young and somewhat timid players with some veteran tenacity. That and more speed and I believe that is the direction management wants to go. Miller fits into that picture perfectly. -

Try not to toot my horn here too much but this deal worked out pretty much exactly how I anticipated it would all along. Trading this player was never going to be a win. I always knew Miller wanted to be here and felt he would do what it would take to solidify something long-term as opposed to taking a chance on the unknowns of the free market next season. That being said I think we should all understand that this signing is more about the next 2 to 4 years than this coming season. I still believe this management has a different vision than what this team currently consists of and once some contracts are moved off the books and the cap starts to move north a bit, we will fill out this team accordingly into a true contender ( more snarl/speed/size which we honestly still lack). Signing Miller puts that long-term plan in place right away and avoids an unwanted distraction this season. Excellent deal on my favourite player. Super stoked. Welcome home JT. You are our guy. -

No one player "makes or breaks" any team. If we lose that player we are not as good a team. He is an important part of the equation. Very important. Don't let your best players get away. He played above his pay grade by a mile the last 2 seasons. Pay the guy and let's keep building. I'm getting fed up with people suggesting he's not that big a deal. life goes on etc. etc. etc. He's our best player. End of story.
