Watch for PA to retain on Boeser and pry Petterson from Penguins. Two young blue line acquisitions with term at the deadline would be huge.

Yeah 50/50 agree. He does fit the mold though. Seems like management are viewing the race to the end as a time to inadvertently tank while having a definitive plan and roster ready to go for next season.

I think coaching and management would rather have their targeted players ready to go by seasons’ end. Hronek was obviously highly sought after by their pro scouts. Waiting till summer might very well have been too late when you trying to prepare for camp.

Hronek is no. 18 out of 99 RHD for points, TOI, 5v5 etc. He is top 3/top pairing calibre. Currently a better bet than Chykrun.

Could you imagine how he would feel if we ship everybody out and do nothing about the blue line and then win 20 to 25 games next year? That plan and direction will take 3 to 5 years before it starts to even come close to showing results. Look at Buffalo and Detroit. Many teams are examples of this. Petey is a very unique athlete and for us to think we know how he processes things is foolhardy. Management is taking a run at this team with this core like it or not.

We will pick top 10. People want the D reconstructed, we partially achieving that. Still moaning though. If we give up and rebuild from scratch, Petey walks next year. Take your pick.

My first instinct is a third round pick is a waste on a player we should’ve simply resigned. Truth is though if he’s available, July 1 we can revisit how desirable that type of signing truly is. All that being said, in the immediate present, the pick was the way to go.
