Edmonton, Chicago, Tampa, LA, Buffalo, Ottawa, even Detroit recently have all been through this type of extensive losing. Some have turned it around into championships. Some have turned it around and can now at least compete. And others… The media availability stuff must add an extra slab of brutality on top of the results. I know this isn’t a popular opinion but no team can win in front of this goaltending. Coach is going to fully lose this team if he’s not able to figure it out.

I don’t think he skated on the a line with Petey as a set up man. Not sure how much he played with Barzal. My point is if he goes on a ppg mini heater he will attract much more attention than he did with the Islanders. I could be way off on this note. Can you bring up a good point that he has been shopped most of the season. It’s early I just don’t know what our plan is with this player.

I wonder if Tochett views his team a bit like that early version of Tampa that he was a part of. I could see him trying to mould us into that type of team more so than how he coached in Arizona. Just mentioning those because Kuz could really fall into the same transformation that a lot of those skilled guys in Tampa had to go through on their way to being so damn good.

Just realized he got two more points today and started thinking about the obvious possibility of moving him at the deadline. If we somehow got a young right handed defender with some decent term it would sweeten up the trade even more.

Worst goaltending tandem and close to worst penalty kill in the league. One maybe two NHL calibre top four defenceman and one or two more that would barely make the rotation on most teams in the league. Couple forwards upfront that really should be In the minors. Keep Demko far away from this mess. We are what we are. Fuel up this tank and let’s roll.

Getting more confident and filling out his frame. Wait till this guy hits around 190 lbs.

It’s been noticeable for sure. We seem to be dictating play a bit more. Not overwhelmingly so and certainty not a full 180 but the team looks stronger and a bit more focused.

Hughes has spoiled us with his consistency. He is integral to this team.

If you think a game like tonight’s is a one off for a player as good as Hughes then I have nothing more to say. He has been one of if not our best players every game he’s played since arriving here. Talk if trading this guy is outrageous.

Thoughts on Hughes after tonight’s win?

Not tonight bud. Tank is in the shop for repairs. This was a fun win in a season with not a lot of fun.

Starting to see some identity out there. Way more north south. Lots of support on the breakout. Far fewer neutral zone turnovers. Balanced minutes for the forwards. Numerous won board battles. Up ice as a unit. Overall urgency looking better.
