  1. I think that’s what he’s trying to do. Other than LE his signings seem to have a pattern and feel that suggests a long term vision and specific model. No real mega contract so far in Jim’s watch.
  2. This. Again and again. Lots of hypocrites, bible thumpers and straight up liars chiming in. Not all but many. You’d lose 2/3 of the players in the NHL if they were fired for drug use. Wake up.
  3. I thought it was interesting that Jim mentioned Tryamkin in that relatively short list of drafted pieces of the future. Maybe there's something brewing overseas. Adding that beast to the back end cupboard would be a good thing.
  4. 1040 is better than any of those Sportsnet drones. I fall asleep listening to Alex Auld speak.
  5. Listening to spitting chicklets podcast last week with Nate McKinnon. He said Makar is elite already. Future Norris franchise type player. They picked a beauty. Never say never but sounds like he will end up an untouchable.
  6. It’s deadsville for the diehards. Lots of love and respect around here. We can all take a little abuse over the only hot topic in town.
  7. Yup, here we go again with the superhomerism. Gretzky pulls out a name drop in some random interview and it goes viral on CDC. Ep is potentially generational, but he needs to establish himself on his own terms on his own timeline. The kid faded fast down the stretch last season. People gotta ease up on their expectations. It's OK to be overtly stoked about one of your own players on your hometown board, but someone is going to call you out every now and again if it starts getting exaggerated... like you are doing now. You're crapping on me for suggesting EP isn't at the same early hype level as a Crosby, Mathews, McJesus etc. but look at what these players achieved as soon as they entered the league. Sorry bud but EP isn't that player yet. I hope he gets there as much as the next guy but you're overvaluing him this early on.
  8. King is a solid fan. The guy takes heat because he’s equal parts realist and homer. We’ve been a bottom 5 team for 4 straight years. Our future currently rests on a 19 year old unproven defenseman, a Calder finalist we don’t really have a solid read on and a potential super sniper well worthy of all the hype yet still not anywhere near in the same discussion as a Mathews, Kutcherov, McDavid, Crosby etc. There is lots to be hopeful and optimistic about these days but the superhomers gave to learn to take a chill pill when a well informed and longstanding fan like Kingofsurrey chimes in with a dose of realism in their opinion.
  9. Beautiful. Pretty much summarizes my dismay towards draftists in one post. What? Sit around and continue to suck fir 3-4 more years hoping to win the jackpot? Youth at all costs? Please. Mid love to know how much heavy lifting you g draft picks have made towards hoisting the past dozen cups or so. Someone please round up some stats. It’s time to get going on this.
  10. Franchise defining player at 18th overall? Slim chance. Actually a cherry picker of a chance. Ease up on the drama boys. Geez.
  11. Thank you. Geez I spend so much time defending Sutter. Memories are so short around here.
  12. He’s had many looks. Obviously he’s still developing and I’m not saying he should be buried in the fourth line but reality is not every top 20 pick projects to be a top 6 player. My original pint wasn’t really focused on abutting anyway. I just want to make sure that e don’t start crapping on tufts like Bear and Sutter just because they were injured last year. Those are the types of players that other young guys should have to push for a spot. Gaudette for example. I’m really psyched on the kid but if he doesn’t earn his foot thorn I want the best player available playing those minutes. I’m tired of minor leaguers and reclamation projects playing in the top line because we don’t have adequate depth. We finally do now and it will push certain players down the line up. It’s a good thing. It’s a good problem to have. Find other ways to deal with finding money to sign Brock. Don’t go all knee jerk and start running our solid nhlers out of town because of injuries. Brandon Sutter is still a good hockey player. When the chips are down do you want him taking the draw and defending draisaitl in our own end or Gaudette. If you’re choosing Gaudette in that instance out of a non conditional desire to see younger players in the line up then you’re a super homer. Which btw we all are. Hehe.
  13. No but I do think the goal is to have a balance of grit and speed and skill throughout. If better players push other good players down the line up it will only make us deeper and way harder to match up against. The classic fourth line of muckers and grinders is a thing of the past. Lines 2 through 4 can be a crap shoot done nights. It’s not a bad thing if a player like Virt plays on the fourth line. It just means we are a better team.
  14. Bo is going to &^@#ing crush it this year!
  15. Sorry, don't agree. Bear's a better all around player than MacEwen is right now. We don't need his toughness anymore. We need skilled depth more than anything and if Bear is healthy, it means Jake has to slide down and Zac starts off in the AHL.
  16. I hope Bear and Sutter come back and silence their critics this season. Both are solid nhl players. I’m rooting for Gaudette but Suttsy is a much better and more rounded player. Let’s not get into the habit of wishing fir change for the sake of change. We want the best players in the line up and Bear and Sutter are both good players.
  17. I'h really into the trickle down effect as well. Fourth line evolves into a potential scoring line. We trim the fat by default. No more fringe minor leaguers playing in the top nine. 18 legit NHLers with size, snarl and some speed.
  18. Yes and finally done depth. A good chunk on that list don’t deserve to be full time players. Time to trim the fat.
