New record for the Devils. Most goals in under a minute. Of course against us. -

The first goal came off losing the draw in our end and the floodgates opened from there. Board battles as well. Let’s go! -

They are both too high but I prefer Miller’s. -

They determined it was good value and term for that player. Also, what doesn’t get a lot of buzz around here is the fact that Miller really wants to be here. One might argue he took a bit of a cut to stay to keep the structure of our cap in a good state. They offered Horvat Miller‘s money and he didn’t think it was enough plain and simple. Hopefully it was the right call. I personally think it was. Signing Bo’s contract would’ve just indicated that what we have is good enough. It isn’t and as I’ve been saying all along, you have to cut out a part of the core to figure out what this team is all about. Let’s move forward with some new leadership and hopefully Beauvillier works out as well. He looked really fast out of there in his first practice today. -

Let it go man. You and the other guy are both bringing up solid points but you’re just not sharing the same perspective on the nuances involving the deal. It doesn’t matter that Isles management and Bo’s agent agreed to the dollar amount. What matters is Lou signed off on the deal knowing that it is more than what he should’ve or wanted to have paid. Once he gave up the assets he did in the trade he had no choice. He still loves the player he got so it’s a moot point. Waiting till the trade deadline would’ve exploded in his face. They got what they want, and the Canucks got what they want, which was making sure they didn’t overpay on an overpriced contract. They win the deal for their reasons, and we win it for ours. -

Well, that does it for any sentimental bond I had with Mr. Horvat. He was after top dollar and got what he wanted. Another glowing passing mark for our management team on this one. So happy they didn’t cave. See you later Bo and thanks for the memories. -
Yes. Agreed on all points. Islanders are absolutely the winner for the time being. Bo is a fantastic player and the most valuable asset in the package. I just think that all things considered management did a pretty good job and if we catch a break and hit hard on that pick we could run away with it in the long run. Even Beauvillier’s salary comes off the books end of next season making him tradeable. I also don’t think ownership and management are seeing next year as a big leap for us. I visualize the following season as the one where they are able to spend some money and get a break with a rise in the cap. The pressure is now on in Brooklyn.

Agreed. I still think management picked a good trading partner. The east is way more competitive in the wild card range than the west. The Isles could move up a spot or two, but could easily stay exactly where they are or actually drop out of the race. Trading with the Rangers, Boston, Carolina Seattle, etc. would’ve made that an impossibility. They might squeak into the playoffs, but this team is not gonna pick up six or seven spots in the conference standings. At least I don’t think so.

I’ll take 13th overall thank you very much. Two picks in the top 13 in this monster draft is huge for this team. Islanders are in tough down the stretch. Florida, Washington, Pittsburgh, etc. These teams are not gonna lie down. Horvat will make a difference but he’s not gonna carry a new team on his back.
-
Much better chance of it being a high pick compared to the Rangers, Carolina Boston, or Seattle. First round pick was always gonna be a centrepiece to the trade. The prospect and the roster player are definitely up for debate. I feel one thing that isn’t debateable is the fact that management targeted a team like the islanders where they felt they could nudge themselves as close as possible to the top 10 pick. Islanders are not trending well right now.

Absolutely. Some awesome D prospects are being muscleled out of some deserving top 10 positions because of some insane depth at Center this year. Honestly, what I wanted most from this trade was another mid first rounder. If Raty develops into a full time NHLer, this is a win. It's obviously a win for the Isles right now but this could shift over time.
