They get first choice I believe? Was it Ottawa a while back that had to decide on their protected pick or risk being worse the following year? Anyways, it looks like a negotiation that had risks and rewards for both sides. As of today the Isles are sitting 14th in the league. They could easily fade down the stretch. If not, we get a real sweet mid first rounder in the draft. The pick is the real jewel in the haul IMHO.

He reminds me of Mike Matheson. I like home too. Plays with an edge and can skate. Still learning. -

They get their info from twitter. Awesome internet skills. -
Goaltending has been terrible all year including Demko since the beginning of the season. It had a lot to do with our start. I can’t recall many teams getting through 50 or 60 games with two minor league goaltenders and coming out with a winning record. I just think that it’s hard to properly assessed this roster with us bleeding goals like this.

We need proper goaltending before we can assess the defensive shortcomings of this team. Everyone’s tiptoeing around the fact that our netminders have been terrible since Demko’s injury. No one wants to crap on them because they’re both in a really tough spot but they’ve been terrible. This affects confidence all through the lineup. It’s not their fault they have been thrown into his brutal situation, but you’re not gonna win in the NHL with these two guys in net.

I might have to time lock that statement and save it for a future post. Anyways, I respect and appreciate all your points. Obviously legitimate concerns and I can tell you know what you’re talking about. Agree to disagree. You have two or three huge players on this team that are in limbo with regards to resigning them for next year. It seems it’s a given certain players are on their way out but I’m sure management want another opinion for a. Month or two before sending these guys packing. Again, I feel the fan base is super emotional when it comes to Boudreaux. You take that emotion out of it and just analyze the record and the current state of the team and that might provide a better impression of things.

Don't see a logical reason for a coaching change? Buddy, this team is a freaking mess right now. Very few coaches survive a record like this at this stage of the season during a season with seemingly so much potential. The only coaches who survive a record like ours are coaches hired specifically by management to oversee a few seasons of turmoil in an effort to develop younger players or to shepherd a team going through a rebuild. Bruce is neither. Wasn't hired by new management. Wasn't extended. ...and he had to prove that last year's closing run wasn't a matter of many pucks finding the back of the net and a goalie having to make 40 saves a night, 25-30 of those saves from high danger areas. That's the way they saw it, that's the way it played out. Don't like how it was handled? Sure, the leak to the media sucked but that was more reporters acting like parasites than managers doing anything out of the ordinary. When a coach is on thin ice, managers are always in conversation with any potential replacement coach not currently employed. Especially if you already have your next guy pegged as the one to move in. And especially if he's already on your favourites contact list on your phone. This is totally normal. It's how these guys operate. Every coach gets fired. This team looks terrible. The coach needed to go. End of story. I'm reserving judgement on this group until next training camp. I like some of the moves they've made and bringing in Lazar/Studnicka/Stillman/Joshua types shows some consistency in the types of players they are after with regards to skating and age profiles. Not game breakers but at least consistent with the view. The only move that seems like an outlier to me is the Miller signing. That really stands out as a deviation from the path. Maybe the future of the team is built around him as a member off the leadership core and he evolves and excels as the team goes through their transition. For the time being though, that signing seems odd and ill placed, even though JT is my second favourite player on the team after Petey.

This platform is seriously toxic at times. What ever happened to "love thy neighbour" etc? Someone earlier called out Tochett cause he may have supported the truckers' convoy. Leave it alone people. Just let people live their lives for crying out loud. We all have different views on life, different situations, different challenges and circumstances. This place is supposed to be about hockey and our beloved hockey team. Hard to stick around here sometimes. Geez. Go "Nucks Go!!!

Wonder if OEL will go to management with a small list of teams he'd be open to going to... again. The jury is so "out"on Tochett right now. He hasn't had a good team to coach but that shouldn't be an excuse. I just hope he makes us tougher identity wise and management brings in players to support that. I want some tough a nails bad boys on the team moving forward. I've been biting my tongue a lot this week with the "love in" happening on Bruce's behalf . Truth is this played out like JR said it might at the end of last season. Just not enough structure and accountability to keep winning games in the long run. One thing Bruce did well was open up the flood gates offensively. Still, we were really bad under his guidance this year. Really bad. Management has to carry some huge responsibility for this but coaching is all about winning. Huge respect, Bruce. Get paid and hit the hammock. You deserve it. What a confusing time. So hard to read this team.

Man, JT looked soft on the empty netter. This team needs to learn how to defend. Right through the whole line up. Hoping Foote and Gonchar are the icing on the cake in the coaching turnover. If Bruce goes, I vote we clean house top to bottom. Fresh eyes and attitude on the entire coaching staff. Tocchet and Foote will also expect some tenacity from their team. Sad to see Bruce go but management was clear at season's end last year that they weren't sold on our record to close out the season. They never saw Bruce as the long term fit. They were right to feel that way. Too many games won on great goaltending and cray high shooting percentages. Trade Bo Trade Kuz. Trade Schenner Trade Garland. Trade Boeser. Buyouts... Full scale RENO. I'm holding my review of PA and JR until next training camp. Let's see what they come up with. This team is lost at Sea. Really feel for the boys. At least they are mostly wealthy.
