I like Zegras too for his hockey IQ, but a few things that Podkolzin has is that he has pest potential - high motor, physical. He reminds me of Matthew Tkachuk and Brendan Gallagher somehow, and I think that's what we need in a top 6 role.

He's basically Tkachuk without the character issues.

1. I've been a fan since 03-04. So it was the closest I've seen them to the Cup, my bad.

2. Maybe what I've said in my other posts can be considered whining, not this one really though.

3. None of those bottom six or tweeners are CORE players. They were integral parts of our Cup winning squad, but we would never build our team around them. Just as Byfuglien, Versteeg and Campbell were integral BUT expendable to Chicago.

i agree with those 4 top six players. green’s job is to find the players to go with them. i think of the bottom six players, pearson has shown to be the best fit with bo so far. green has tried several line mates with bo. i don’t know what kind of line mates would work the best  with bo. maybe we don’t have them yet. i admit louie is miscast but until they find the right winger for him, louie’s defense allows the other two, to press harder in the O zone. 

imo, if people assigned ever forward to the line they should be on, there would only be 4 top six players. how is that green’s fault? 

jake has really improved but still might be a 3rd liner.  leivo had some success there but really is a 3rd liner. 

benning was hoping that ferland would be a top six winger. that hasn’t worked out yet. 

in bending’s favour he may have drafted the other 2 top six wingers. 

don’t think anyone on the farm is ready yet, i could be wrong. 

i’m not saying that a new view of a coach couldn’t improve their out put but pardon the expression, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. 

green should be allowed 6 top players and then if they can’t take this team to the next level, then fire green and benning.

Kole Lind has 39 points in 49 games. He's just learning to be defensively responsible too. 

I'm kinda disappointed Gads has only 14 points in 32 games. However 10 of those points are goals. 

It just kind of sucks we have a lot of players who aren't pulling their weight (err salary?). 

Coaches are supposed to bring out the best in their players and give them structure that will help them become the best they can be. They also need to have a system in place that gives their top players a chance to shine. They need to motivate and manage these players correctly and help them to recognize their fullest potential.

Apparently it's only an aggrivation of his knee injury. He shouldn't be out more than a week.  

Send the kids down. Live or die by our roster. Suck by march. Trade vets. Bring older kids with larger bodies in to lineup next year. Draft top 5+ additional picks. It's not a bad idea.

i'll root for whoever they keep...win or lose...they can't ruin players by pushing them into the line up too soon...a lot of cdc gm's don't care.

I can highly recommend the parts with Sid the Cussing Rabbit. I'm an avid fan of him as well. Hope someday he gets back to Late Night. His quick wit is unmatched.

@Tystick my thoughts exactly, if he watched Tanev and would make the simple play and contain things he would probably be less error-prone.  Awful seeing him whiff on pucks and get beat when he could've simply made the simple calm maneuvers.  Maybe it's just not his kind of play though.

I think he will find his style. IMO, he's fully capable, just makes too many aggressive plays.

Seems like he wants to do it all, but sometimes less is more.

He's been this way since his 2nd year with the Sabres.  Sometimes he's good, other times you want to facepalm while watching him.

I still have hope Edler and the coaches will help make him more consistent.

it was interesting when benning was asked about taking pettersson. he said they had him picked over the other forwards taken in the draft. but when asked if he would have taken pettersson if makar was still available? he said that would have been a tough call, as he saw makar as a franchise d-man.

I think you could make a case Quinn is the better dman without the puck but yeah, that offensive skill set is quite something. I do think we're going to have RoY finalists 3 years in a row tho which is a nice feat for Benning. 

I would gladly scratch Matthias for the big Kass presence.

Ehhhh. I'd say the Flames have a couple studs. Johnny Hockey is a high end winger and one can argue that Dougie Hamilton is capable of being an elite d-man.

Because tootoo didn't line up and back off into the fighting stance sestito did. He didn't go straight for sestito did.

The issue isn't that we're playing perimeter hockey. It's that we only have two players who are good at it, the Sedins. The rest are pretenders who don't possess the core strength to hold off the opposition.

You'd think more people would figure out what doesn't work in the playoffs by now. I guess we'll likely review again soon.

If I was Bo I would start at 5 years, 6.5 per as my top dollar.

5 years would bring him to unrestricted free agency. But also in 5 years the cap will be much higher and the bar for players like him will be more around the 7M mark. Signing for 8 years would be foolish unless he gets that kind of money.

I'm actually more inclined to sign him a 4 year contract to retain him as a RFA and then go for the long term deal on him.

The more years you buy from his UFA negotiating years will likely cost you a higher caphit which can be dangerous if he doesn't live up to that number.  Plus guys like Sutter will have finally come off his final year on his deal (if he isn't dealt before then) and you can use that money towards Bo.

I would rather sign that kind of deal like a 4x4.75 or 4x5 contract to say okay you earned this but we want to see more too.

As much as it makes me nervous and uneasy, its a good precedent to make for players going forward and future signings for our players.

yes. his agent is just being an agent. probably waited for unsigned offer sheets as leverage. looking at comparables and also at a bit of intangible stuff like "C" material and being a local favourite, i think it'll be in the 6milx8year range, maybe 8 years 50 mil, something like that.
