  1. Really disappointing year from him. He's put up the stats but has largely been ineffective even strength. He's just so much slower than other players at everything. I hope he doesn't end up like Toffoli.
  2. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you here, but Arizona would have been a playoff team sans an injury-plagued year.
  3. Not saying they would but for a team like Edmonton more prospects do nothing to help a team that should be gunning for the playoffs. It's not like Juolevi has zero value either, he was having a decent season in the AHL until his injury.
  4. Not giving up, selling from a position of strength for a position of need.
  5. Calling it now if we draft Byram, Juolevi gets moved for a 1st in the same draft. Lots of RHD in the mid 1st area.
  6. Give Edler the big bucks, whatever it takes to avoid a NTC/NTC. 3 years tops.
  7. I'm still pissed about Forsling. He's going to be a good defenseman.

@combover You act like you know what you're talking about.

      You don't.

Clendenning had superb AHL numbers as a defenceman. Benning is human. Based on the stats, there was NO indication that Clendenning would've turned into a AHL plug.

Turns out Benning is/was wrong. But other GMs who took on Clendenning later were hoping to see more from him. It never seemed to happen.

  8. It's hard to think of Hughes as a number one D because those tend to be minute crunching Dmen who are strong on both sides of the puck. Along the lines of Doughty or Weber.
  9. This team needs a Kakko more than it needs a Hughes. They're neck and neck as far as I'm concerned, and a big bodies skilled winger would look good with Horvat.
  10. Never liked this kid. He did well riding Pettersson's coattail for a bit, but he clearly does not have the hungry mentality needed to make it at the NHL level. Get him out of here.
  11. Kid's a monster on the boards and plays a really cerebral game, we're going to have a hell of a third line in two years.
  12. Goldobin's ceiling is Nylander-lite and he has shown no signs of coming close to that. Leivo is the kind of 40 point workhorse you want come playoff time.
  13. "It is what it is." - a lonely star

  14. Sellers market, yeesh. I don't see why Edler would be opposed to spending a couple months in a different jersey...
  15. I feel kike one of the few people who have supported Gaunce from the get go. Why do people feel to the need to expect point production out of this kid. He EXCELS at being a shutdown center with his defensive acumen. Put him on our fourth line with two veteran wingers. Sammy Pahlsson was an integral part of the Ducks Cup run and that man barely cracked 20 pts a couple times in his career.
  16. This guy is such a breath of fresh air on this team. An honest hardworking player with talent and vision. Give this man a contract.
  17. Speak of the devil!

  18. Slowly forgetting that MDZ exists.

  19. Finally got a chance to see Dahlen perform today. He's ... disappointing to say the least. His game just does not translate to North American ice very well. Kid needs a strong offseason to make sure his development doesn't stall.
  20. The ice at this tournament has been embarrassing. Stamkos was right.

  21. Pettersson just wasn't noticeable. Hughes is noticeable on every shift, and it's an even split between good and bad. The kid has 3-4 poor giveaways a game due to poor decision making. He really needs to clean up that aspect of his game prior to making the jump. Some people are claiming we should see him in the NHL at the end of this year. I'm reluctant to say that it's a good idea at this point.
  22. I always thought it would be weird to have a doppleganger of yourself playing second fiddle to you in such a niche role while you see success and their career gets shelved. Hope Nilsson gets it together in Ottawa. Meanwhile, stocking up picks to create the ultimate trade up package.
  23. Hughes is such a special talent, but he definitely plays a selfish game. From slamming his stick on the ice demanding the puck to his over reliance on the rover style in the offensive zone, he's going to be a double edged sword in the NHL for sure.
