  1. If we don't win the lottery I hope we trade down and take a RHD.
  2. C'mon Jim, we're still in the honeymoon phase with Pearson. Don't go slotting him in as Bo's future winger.
  3. It will be a successful offseason if Benning does nothing. Ride the current anchor contracts out and invest in the youth.

I'm just hoping we don't make any huge moves, I don't think we're quite there yet.

This is the most Canucks-y status update ever.

@Alain Vigneault  Only way I see Stralman here is if Tampa strikes out on Karlsson, veteran Swedes tend to like planting their roots. I wouldn't mind him though on a two year deal.

I think this team still has too many flaws to go big with a UFA investment. Ideally, we need two more bonafide top four RHD to push Stecher down, another top four LHD, and two more top flight wingers.

  4. Benning needs to make a big play here IMO. Show a commitment to Rathbone and send Fox weekly love letters to gain his favour.
  5. Hard to even look at him as a positive asset at this point. Ship him out for whatever we can get and move on to someone who can hold down a spot for 70+ games.
  6. At this point I'd be down to trade down and take Seider/ Soderstrom unless we win the draft lottery. RHD is a more pressing need than another top six forward, and I'm sure teams would trade up to secure Newhook/Boldy/Zegras.
  7. I think Stecher, Hutton, Biega etc are examples of players with individual talent and hard work but average hockey IQ. Their spatial awareness is not very good and every play they make is telegraphed. With time and space, Stecher and Hutton can make the right play because they can rely on their puck skills to get them out of trouble. However, under time constraints they resort to making the 'safe' play every time because they don't have the quick thinking and on ice awareness that someone like Hughes does.
  8. If he had the work ethic of Motte I wouldn't mind, but watching him reminds me a lot of Kassian. Speed and tenacity when he ha the puck but as soon as he loses it his game slows down and he ends up puck watching. He's definitely a lot better than Kassian in most regards to his defensive game, but I don't see him taking another step development wise unless he starts showing that he wants it as bad as Horvat or Pettersson.
  9. I hope that moron who harassed Pettersson gets publicly vilified.

This was posted on Snapchat, therefore I am assuming someone from the friends list screen recorded this story and posted it online. Unless the fool decided to make his story public.

Anyways he is acting like a moron, but some people be acting like he attacked Petey.

I’m more pissed at security, they should keep these drunk people away from players and there Audis, instead of standing there and watching.

The world would be a better place if we quit giving these idiots attention.

  10. Really disappointing year from him. He's put up the stats but has largely been ineffective even strength. He's just so much slower than other players at everything. I hope he doesn't end up like Toffoli.
  11. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you here, but Arizona would have been a playoff team sans an injury-plagued year.
  12. Not saying they would but for a team like Edmonton more prospects do nothing to help a team that should be gunning for the playoffs. It's not like Juolevi has zero value either, he was having a decent season in the AHL until his injury.
  13. Not giving up, selling from a position of strength for a position of need.
  14. Calling it now if we draft Byram, Juolevi gets moved for a 1st in the same draft. Lots of RHD in the mid 1st area.
  15. Give Edler the big bucks, whatever it takes to avoid a NTC/NTC. 3 years tops.
  16. I'm still pissed about Forsling. He's going to be a good defenseman.

@combover You act like you know what you're talking about.

      You don't.

Clendenning had superb AHL numbers as a defenceman. Benning is human. Based on the stats, there was NO indication that Clendenning would've turned into a AHL plug.

Turns out Benning is/was wrong. But other GMs who took on Clendenning later were hoping to see more from him. It never seemed to happen.

  17. It's hard to think of Hughes as a number one D because those tend to be minute crunching Dmen who are strong on both sides of the puck. Along the lines of Doughty or Weber.
  18. This team needs a Kakko more than it needs a Hughes. They're neck and neck as far as I'm concerned, and a big bodies skilled winger would look good with Horvat.
  19. Never liked this kid. He did well riding Pettersson's coattail for a bit, but he clearly does not have the hungry mentality needed to make it at the NHL level. Get him out of here.
  20. Kid's a monster on the boards and plays a really cerebral game, we're going to have a hell of a third line in two years.
