  1. No qualms with Makar taking the Calder, what a freaking talent.

@Pears Bet accepted but how much savings are we talking here?

it was interesting when benning was asked about taking pettersson. he said they had him picked over the other forwards taken in the draft. but when asked if he would have taken pettersson if makar was still available? he said that would have been a tough call, as he saw makar as a franchise d-man.

I think you could make a case Quinn is the better dman without the puck but yeah, that offensive skill set is quite something. I do think we're going to have RoY finalists 3 years in a row tho which is a nice feat for Benning.

  2. Watching Petey's Allsvenkan highlights ... he really loves that dab celly.

    1. BrockBoester

      Pete all about dem memes

    2. -AJ-

I bet Petey's secretly the dankest memer on the team.

    3. BrockBoester

@-AJ- He's a big fan of these things

  3. Awful hit on Gaunce today. Hope he's okay.

Gross. Say goodbye to your NHL hopes, McCarron. If the AHL has any credibility that will be at least 10 games.

    3. J-23

      Garbage play.

I hope someone on Gaunce team &^@#ed that guy up.

Apparently he hurt someone the other night as well.

    4. Nuxfanabroad

A reason I don't really like top prospects playing in that sh*t-show. F*ckin deplorable

  4. Forgot Gaudette was there to send off the Sedin's. Whatta beaut.

  5. Late night thoughts: With the way things are heading we might end up with a 1994 redemption series.

    1. goalie13

The Flames trying to get redemption after losing three consecutive OT games to lose the series?  You would think they would have moved on from that by now.

    2. Squamfan

this time Erikkson hitting the post

No way, this year Loui E is going to bring some smart hockey to show the fans what we all hope he still has and spread smart hockey to the younger guys.

  6. https://mobile.twitter.com/Sportsnet650/status/1176153903630389250?s=09 Virtanen's hanging on his last threads. Not sure he figures it out with us. He's too comfortable here.
  7. Anymore updates on the Rooster since training camp started?
  8. Rewatching Boeser highlights and just realizing how slick Vanek was.

The three goals in a row in this vid were pure brilliance.

    1. Coconuts

Vanek was fantastic for us, from his production and what he brought off the ice to the return we got in Jokinen and Motte. Jokinen wasn't kept of course but he had a respectable showing here. And Motte's a gamer of course.

    2. Baer.

I'll always miss that breakaway slapper

    3. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

What impressed me the most about Vanek when he was here was how good his hockey IQ is. Not surpised he had some pretty good chemistry with Boeser.

  9. What a great week to be an Arsenal fan!

    1. AV.

Good chance we get Tierney as well!

    2. ReggieBush

Need a center half. I would try to get someone like Rugani, or Demiral from Juve.

  10. I'm not so sure. Miller is more of a play maker with a big body so he can shield the puck and take punishment along the boards ala Henrik Sedin (poor comparison, but just to give an idea of what I'm trying to say). I don't think he's necessarily tough to play against though. I think Virtanen's traits will translate better to Ferland's play-style, which is essentially being a complimentary winger who finishes plays and makes life difficult for the opposition. I find it hard to see Virtanen ever thinking the game as well as Miller does, but he can influence the game in other ways.
  11. I hope Virtanen at least takes notes on Ferlands tenacity. I for one, am extremely excited to potentially see Virtanen in the playoffs. I think he's the kind of player who will find that extra gear when the whistles get put away.
  12. No trades. I am ecstatic.

    1. Alflives

Tbh, some of the rumours I heard today (that Benning chuckled at when asked about them) had me worried.  I was really glad to hear JB remind us today that he is being very careful to rebuild by adding young guys who fit in with his group.

  13. Don't care what the "people" say, rock and roll is here to stay!

      Drive-By Body Pierce

...perhaps one of the last great rock innovators. Let's hope that changes!!!

  14. Hopefully, that was the straw to break the camel's back in Arsenal, something needs to change.

    1. thejazz97

As a Spurs fan, part of me hopes it never does.

    2. AV.

Must-go:  Chambers, Elneny, Jenkinson, Ospina, Mustafi, Lichtsteiner

Should-go:  Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Kolasinac, Monreal, Koscielny, Martinez

Keep unless fantastic transfer offer:  Aubameyang, Lacazette, Xhaka, Iwobi

Keep: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles, Torreira, Guendouzi

  15. Oh did he? That's good to know!
  16. Unpopular opinion: Gaudette is still a very raw player, he should log big minutes in Utica instead of being on the roster next year.
  17. Hawks are going to get another legendary BC dman. Figures.

    1. Coconuts

I'd rather the Avs get him than the Hawks tbh. Avs are fun to watch and I'm so goddamn tired of Chicago. Still can't believe they jumped up, &^@#ing garbage.

    2. Ghostsof1915

I wish he actually fell to Vancouver.

It would be nice to have a potential all star play for the city.

  18. God, what a terribly written episode. I'm going to watch the rest of GoT and hate every second.

    1. canuktravella

i thought it was epic just because  they switched up the ending  doesnt mean it was bad it seemed like they could have had a bit better plot   but it was pretty awesome  maybe a bit more light during fights   sansa and tryion in crypts and arya fighting  like a ninja was awesome.  samwell crying the whole episode not so good

  19. Watching the Avs steamroll the Flames make me wonder what kind of player Hughes will be in the playoffs.

    1. canuktravella

one that skates through everyone and sets up petey and boeser on the regular

    2. NewbieCanuckFan

I don’t wonder ANYTHING when I watch the Lames get steamrolled.  I just give a one mans standing ovation.:P

    3. Alflives

Lames don't have Quinn Hughes.  No team has a Quinn Hughes player, other than us.  Quinn is a uniquely gifted player, who moves the puck both as a carrier, and as a passer.  Teams that fore-check Quinn too aggressively will be caught on a lot of 4 on 3 breaks.  Quinn to partner, or winger, and back to Quinn at top speed right up the gut.

  21. Watching the Leafs makes me appreciate how much our kids actually give a damn about winning. Matthews, Tavares, Nylander ... no heart. Kadri ... too much heart LOL.

You can't coach a competitive spirit into a guy.  Can't wait to see Petey in the playoffs with how much he obviously hates to lose.

    3. shiznak

Marner and Reilly are the only ones who cares.

      I feel bad for them.

why are you not solely focused on the pitts - isles game?

      i mean really

      Mathew Barzal

Multi-tasking is possible haha. Barzal is one of my favourite players, but I'm firmly on St. Louis and Columbus' bandwagon.

  23. It will be a successful offseason if Benning does nothing. Ride the current anchor contracts out and invest in the youth.

    1. Coconuts

I'm just hoping we don't make any huge moves, I don't think we're quite there yet.

    2. 48MPHSlapShot

This is the most Canucks-y status update ever.

@Alain Vigneault  Only way I see Stralman here is if Tampa strikes out on Karlsson, veteran Swedes tend to like planting their roots. I wouldn't mind him though on a two year deal.

I think this team still has too many flaws to go big with a UFA investment. Ideally, we need two more bonafide top four RHD to push Stecher down, another top four LHD, and two more top flight wingers.

  24. If he had the work ethic of Motte I wouldn't mind, but watching him reminds me a lot of Kassian. Speed and tenacity when he ha the puck but as soon as he loses it his game slows down and he ends up puck watching. He's definitely a lot better than Kassian in most regards to his defensive game, but I don't see him taking another step development wise unless he starts showing that he wants it as bad as Horvat or Pettersson.
  25. I hope that moron who harassed Pettersson gets publicly vilified.

    3. J-23

This was posted on Snapchat, therefore I am assuming someone from the friends list screen recorded this story and posted it online. Unless the fool decided to make his story public.

Anyways he is acting like a moron, but some people be acting like he attacked Petey.

I’m more pissed at security, they should keep these drunk people away from players and there Audis, instead of standing there and watching.
