  1. Not a fan. In my ideal opening night roster, he's benched.
  2. Miller Pettersson Boeser Hoglander Horvat Garland Pearson Dickinson Podkolzin Motte Sutter Lockwood OEL Poolman Hughes Hamonic Rathbone Schenn
  3. Any team with good LW depth will eat us alive. We have four third pairing defenseman manning that side. And if OEL does not revert to something resembling pre-Tochet form our offense will not be able to compensate for our defensive shortcomings. Barring Shaw implementing a defensive system that utilizes every dman's max potential I think we're in for a rough go this year.
  4. This team makeup screams paper tigers to me. I wouldn't be surprised if we dominate the regular season and then flop in the playoffs when the well rounded teams lock it down and expose our back end. Top 4 team in the West, 2nd round exit.
  5. Reading posts from people who follow him on various forums he sounds like Myers. Tall and a good skater but needs to really work on his defensive game if he wants any shot at the bigs. I hope he can put it together, somebody called him the "turnover machine". Not a great endorsement, but he's young.
  6. I can't even get excited about this pick because my hunch says it's getting traded.
  7. Some PTSD. Poor Hathaway will have to learn the hard way you can't beat Marchand at his own game.
  8. New want, if we end up around 9-10 and miss out on Clarke I hope we trade down 5-10 spots and draft this kid. He can skate, has patience, good size. Everything you want in a steady top four RHD.
  9. Panthers-Bolts reminds me of early Canucks-Hawks games. That zero defense run and gun play is not going to go well for them in this series.

  10. I called out his recklessness with the puck before it was cool. Where's my hipster card? EDIT: Also, real Kesler vibes from this guy. He's clearly a sarcastic, overly-emotional douchebag but man can he play the game of hockey.
  11. Brandt Clarke is our guy. Make it happen Benning.
  12. I guess take it with a grain of salt but FWIW even last year he didn't pass my eye test as a second line player, points or not. He was a streaky goal scoring winger who profited off Bo being a stallion in the offensive zone. He's not the worst option, but any contender can do better in their top six.
  13. Not a fan. Pearson is already regressing into a third line checking player, we get better bang for buck in free agency and in the farm. We should have let him walk.
  14. Weird to think there was a time where Boeser was on a line with the Sedins. Young Bo was with Dorsett and Kenins.

I find it cool that there's a connection of two Canuck eras with Boeser and the twins.

  15. I just realized. Are we going to waste another year of Horvat's prime, and then saddle him with two plugs for wingers again when normalcy returns? God I hope Hoglander or Podkolzin blow us away.

We still have Pearson for this season, and he's a good winger for defensive/ two-way support.  If Podkolzin comes in and proves he's ready we'd probably have a well-rounded top-6 (skilled two-way top line, heavier second line).  I also wouldn't view the 2nd line wingers as precariously, since I think if anything they need to figure out who plays bottom pair D, and if Holtby's still good.  The wingers will be fine (MacEwen can fit in a pinch, Hawryluk's probably got the speed to match, and even Motte could have upside).

Pearson isn't incredible, but he's a capable second line guy. Virtanen could get there, but he's admittedly a stretch right now. Hopefully he takes another step.

I expect Eriksson to be relegated to the bottom six or extra forward positions.

  16. This guy is nice background braindead listening but does anyone actually take what he says seriously?
  17. At the level of bewilderment/shock where you can't help but just maniacally laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. I hope this is some Aquilini money management bull$&!# because I don't want to accept that Benning &^@#ed us.

People are so ridiculously impatient and shortsighted. There are three things affecting this team now.

      1) Flat Salary Cap

      2) Expansion Draft

      3) Offer sheets

Benning is ensuring his team is protected from all three factors. This is why Benning was insistent on short term.

    2. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

I've been strangely indifferent to everything that's happened. Not that I'm happy with how it's played out, but I can't find the energy to be angry or even annoyed.

    3. Zhukini

      4) Money tied up in players who shouldn’t be playing

  18. Pack er up people, see you all come draft time.

  19. If had some semblance of a contenders six man D roster we would be such a formidable team. Silently hoping we pick between 9-11 and snag Drysdale. We desperately need prospects to usurp the over the hill vets.
  20. Lol this kind of pond hockey reminds me of that Flames-Canucks series. Appalling defense by both sides.
