Calling it right now. Get a top 15 pick two years in a row, Sedins both sub 70 points, then at the ripe age of 36 team gets back into the playoff fold and they knock in 75+ and start trying hard again. This is all some crazy devious tanking plan on their part to help the team recoup the talent Gillis threw away... my crazy theory of the day...

I'm not saying don't take shots, but with Torts we flung everything at the net and look how that worked out. Booth had great advanced stats, that didn't make him any better than Santorelli or Higgins. He killed possession with those type of shots. On the flipside, Horvat takes shots that are smart and if he doesn't think that a rebound opportunity is there or he can't hit the open space he will hold onto it or dish it elsewhere. That is the mark of a great player. His stats might be terrible but I don't think it's even close to being indicative of how he's played.

Stats don't mean jack IMO. I'd rather have a team that can dominate possession rather than fling every shot at the net and hope for something to happen. That's what poor teams do.

I'm not going to 'can it' because you refuse to acknowledge the process of ageing. Block me if you wish, there are plenty of optimists on here to keep you satisfied.

The main difference between Burrows and half the current roster is that he is genuinely passionate about playing for this team and is excited when a difference is made, by him or by others. His career was raised here and the memories he's made in this jersey will never be forgotten. He's willing to do the bitch work in order to have this team succeed, but he has regressed due to age. That much is undeniable. He's on top of his game as far as effort is concerned, but we'll never see him in 2011 form again.

Watching the last game of every series from 2011 really gets the feels flowing. What a brilliant bunch of players we had. I don't like it as much as the next person but ending this dames life rather than letting it suffer through the miserable toll age has taken has to be what's best for both the club and the old boys. They are definitely holding onto past glory as long as they sport the orca.

Oh jesus.
1. I've been a fan since 03-04. So it was the closest I've seen them to the Cup, my bad.
2. Maybe what I've said in my other posts can be considered whining, not this one really though.
3. None of those bottom six or tweeners are CORE players. They were integral parts of our Cup winning squad, but we would never build our team around them. Just as Byfuglien, Versteeg and Campbell were integral BUT expendable to Chicago.

This obviously going to be subjective, but does anyone else think Bonino doesn't want to be here? I was watching his 2013 highlights and was actually SHOCKED at the difference in enthusiasm he has after scoring with the Ducks vs with us.
