  1. That was a legit penalty. Instead of blaming the refs, we need to be more careful of staying out of the box.
  2. Yikes! When’s the last time we had that rough of a line-up?
  3. In the United States, different states have different rules for the quarantine period. In NY, it's either 10 days if you don't test or a 7-day "non-mandated" quarantine if you test negative 36 hours before and after your trip. I'm sure Illinois is in the process of relaxing its own restrictions with how well mass vaccination is going in the US.
  4. Wat. So they're comparable because they both came from the NCAA? Jordan Schroeder never had "decent first steps". Not even going to ask why Gaudette was becoming a "redundant" player, he was probably the most unlucky of our forwards during the beginning of this season.
  5. Speaking of digging holes, I don’t think you’re getting your intended point across... Benning gave up McCann, a 2nd and a 4th for him, by far the most out of any GM. He then signed him to the deal of his career, a deal that has been passed on at diminishing value five times now. But hey, Fortunato had a decent season last year with the mighty Florida Everblades of the ECHL, right? Lol. Or maybe that 7th round pick turns into the next Lidstrom, no? lmao. There’s a reason even his most ardent supporters are quiet now. Take the L and move on.
  6. Not sure the Aquillinis have the stomach for a $6 million buy-out given the org's losses this past year. Louie's got a year left on his contract after this season. According to Benning, the team will not be running into any cap issues this coming off-season (a statement I hope the fans hold him accountable for), so I think the logical way forward is to just bite the bullet and let his contract run out.
  7. A former 3rd overall pick who’ll be playing in his 5th NHL team in the last 3 years and is now getting traded for a guy who plays for the Cleveland Monsters is pretty telling. There’s busts and then there’s Erik.
  8. This. Gaudette had a 45-point prorated season last year and has been super unlucky with his chance conversion this season, but still hasn’t lost his knack for being in the right place at the right time. I’m sure Chicago will tap into that. How people say Highmore’s worth Gaudette as of April 12, 2021 is bewildering.
  9. Gutted. Thought Gaudette had so much more to give at the club. As predicted, the usual suspects are defending this trade tooth and nail on the basis of 4 whole playoff points. Not a fan of this trade as it stands today, even if the Covid spin is true.
  10. It's disingenuous to ignore the why though. The problem with Benning has always been his player valuations. It caught up to us this year and it will continue to bite us in the ass until we do something about it.
  11. Keeping Virtanen for his pushback, when pushback is one of the cheaper things to acquire in Free Agency, is just grasping at straws at this point.
  12. It's not that I don't agree but the 6 OA draft position will always be tied to Jake. To ignore it is too convenient imo. The very same people who argue against measuring Jake against his draft position laugh at the Isles for drafting Dal Colle and at the Oilers for drafting Yakupov. You can't have it both ways. I agree that had Jake been picked 28 OA fans' attitude towards him would be different, simply because the expectations would be different. Unfortunately for Jake that wasn't the case.
  13. Rangers winning 9-0 in the third period with a makeshift coaching team
  14. Discussions about Jake instantly become less attractive the moment you realize this is more about posters not wanting to admit that they’ve been wrong about Virtanen over the past 7 years.
  15. Easy. We trade him for anything more than a bag of pucks before he disappears for 20 games again.
  16. I wonder if posters would be taking the “let’s wait and see approach” if a total nobody got arrested for a DUI. His car was swerving all over the road ffs All it takes is for someone to be in the wrong place at the wrong time for Bert to ruin someone’s life. Hope he gets the full force of the law.
  17. One is struggling with 1 point in 15 games, and the other is also "struggling" with 12 points in 17 games. I wouldn't consider it a fair trade, even taking into account the cap hits and the fact that Jake isn't physical consistently enough to warrant consideration on some of the intangibles that he brings outside of points. But I agree about the cap situation being problematic. Regardless of whether Dubas would entertain a Virtanen-Nylander trade, some bigger pieces would have to move just to be able to accommodate that contract. There's probably better trade partners for the Leafs.
  18. I mean, it's not like we'd be trading major pieces for him. If we can get him for Virtanen (and I assume other smaller pieces), I'd be positively surprised. But I highly doubt this would happen for the sole reason that Virtanen is not even remotely close in value to Nylander. This would be like some other team trading a bottom-6 guy for our top-6 secondary scoring, which would be the equivalent of someone like Pearson on our team.
  19. The prospect of both Demko and DiPietro as our goalies scares me. As good as he played in the playoffs, Demko certainly hasn't proven that he can be a 1A during the regular season (yet), and I'm not sure he'll be solidified enough by the time Holtby's contract runs out in a year's time.
  20. IIRC, a big caveat in negotiations between Myers and JB involved allowing the Canucks to expose him in the ED. What I’m particularly curious about is whether JB is depending on Seattle to pick him up in order to relieve our cap situation (and what happens, then, if they don’t).
