  1. And your source is his interview? lulz I'm sure his chill ratio is good tho
  2. Unless you have some sort of insider info, this is just as baseless as saying that aliens have infiltrated the White House. Thus, you can't call people who say the opposite bandwagoners (do you even know what that means?). Ask the staff at the Roxy what they think of Jake and you'll get a more accurate description. We don't live in large cities like Toronto, NY, or LA. It doesn't take much investigative work to know that the Sedins are role model citizens, Bo is actually a pretty cool guy and Jake has a lot of growing up to do. Sugar coating this won't make him any less of a douchebag.
  3. This adjective is being thrown around a lot around here. Rumours around the city indicate he's not exactly humble. He's no Evander Kane but that doesn't mean he's a saint.
  4. He's very similar to OEL in how he plays. He even talked about OEL didn't he?

Why mess with our hottest line though? Makes no sense from a practical standpoint
  6. A bit harsh on the franchise imo... and I'm one of Benning's biggest critics. Jake doesn't even look like he belongs in the AHL right now, let alone the NHL. At some point we're gonna have to turn the spotlight on Jake and ask if all those nights at the Roxy, though totally warranted, were the right choice for a rookie battling for a spot in the NHL. Even if you look at his Hitmen totals, he only ever was a PPG player, which is not all that particularly impressive in the minors to be fair. And while he did put up a 45 goal season, he did follow that up with only 21 in his last year (despite some people blaming that on the shoulder injury the medical staff indicated he had fully recovered from). You can't ruin something that was never really there, just because he was a top 10 pick doesn't exactly mean he was slated for the top 6 if developed correctly.
  7. It's gotten to the point where even Ritchie looks like a better pick lmao
  8. Curious as to why Stetcher and Tryamkin get paired together on here a lot. Is it because of the size difference? I'm guessing it's the same reason a lot of people were pairing up Subban and Tryamkin in the off-season.
  9. It wouldn't work from a Canucks context because we would most likely be trading a defender. There's a separate quota for protecting defensemen and forwards and you can't transfer a protection slot from D to F. Such contexts exist throughout the league. Some teams are happy with their current projected protected forwards, other teams have salary cap issues, others have ending ELCs that will need to be taken into account first, etc. This isn't NHL 16 where anything other than salary cap goes out the window.
  10. There's some thing called an expansion coming up. It's simply not worth investing in a forward who will likely play well enough to warrant protection. Users often forget that these two years are special in that they require every player to be taken into account, especially when making trades.
  11. Wanting to trade him and wanting to dump him for scraps are two different things. Of course, CDC has trouble differentiating between the two.
  12. If Kane were a Canuck in a similar situation, would you opt to trade him now that his value is at an all-time low or would you wait until he has another semi-decent scoring season to pull the trigger? I'd choose the latter. In the seven seasons prior to this one, Kane has logged the following amount of goals (before the age of 25): 14 19 30 17 19 10 20 You guys act like he's a lost cause and won't get his act together... the stats say otherwise... as a Sabres fan, @SabreFan1, you should know better. He'll fully recover from that injury and he'll once again score a respectable amount of goals. I'm sure Tim Murray knows this... it would be management suicide to choose to trade him now that he's facing a harassment case and recovering from injury.
  13. The mere fact that Kane has one 30-goal season and four seasons between 17 and 20 goals at 25 years old automatically disqualifies him from a Kassian/Yakupov situation. Unlike those two, Kane has already proven to be able to translate his talent to the NHL. The Sabres are going to want something meaningful back and probably won't settle for scraps.
  14. The only thing that worries me is that London doesn't have that great of a track record developing defensemen. I mean, in regards to recent defensive prospects, I can think of Maatta who's pretty good in his own right but no superstar in the making or anything. The whole "don't worry about his play, he's learning and honing his skills" argument is viable when the institution said player is in has a good track record for developing defensemen. If Juo turns out to be a Maatta lite, will it have been a good use of our 5OA?
  15. It's also a bit of a stretch to call Baer a potential first liner and Granlund a potential second liner but we'll see.
  16. So hitting 3 times is his job? (although the hits must've been tame af because I don't remember seeing them). Well $&!#, we just used our 6 OA on a mediocre grinder.
  17. Yeah but then what happens next season? Markstrom and rookie goalie Demko? That could potentially be disastrous.
  18. He's obviously not ready for the NHL. I'm hoping that he's just there as cover until Rodin comes back because I don't want a repeat of last year.
  19. Exposing Gaunce would be a disaster. All this time developing him just to hand him over on a silver platter to Vegas. I would rather expose Eriksson.
  20. The problem is with the term power forward. Nowadays, almost all 6 foot + forwards who can hit are labeled 'power forwards' (as if it were something special) despite there being plentiful forwards in the NHL who fit that description. Yes, Jake can hit and he's a big boy but that doesn't mean anything until he massively steps up his offensive game. It's clear that he's young and that he's gonna improve but the things he lacks in are fundamentals such as forechecking, positioning, shooting accuracy, etc. Offensive instincts and natural offensive ability are what separates some physical forwards like Nash, Benn, Ovi, etc. from other never-beens like Torres, Booth, etc. Jake being labeled a power forward doesn't necessarily mean that he'll develop later or that he'll put it all together eventually.
  21. Is it really though (referring to defensemen)?
  22. That's true but would they offer as much for him if they know he'll be unprotected thereafter? Hansen essentially becomes a rental if he pots another 20 goals next season and he isn't protected by whichever team owns him at season's end.
  23. I'm sure 29 other GM's are mulling this kind of move as well. Nobody in their right mind would want to leave somebody with good value unprotected... So the question is... wouldn't Hansen's value decline by default? (given the fact that there are few teams that have extra protection slots to use on incoming players)
  24. Almost gotta feel sorry for the guy. Not sure why some have Virtanen ahead of him tbh... JV should spend next year in the A.
  25. The thing is that London doesn't have that great of a track record when it comes to defenders... that's probably my only qualm when it comes to the Knights.
