  1. same could be said about the excuses butthatsnoneofmybusiness.jpeg
  2. I consider myself one of his harshest critics and I gave him props. I wouldn't be opposed to giving the kid credit when it's due as long as he deserved it. The problem is that it was his only standout game in months. Don't give me the whole "he's been good with the Canucks" blab because he really hasn't. The Sweden game is an outlier all things considered and you know it's true.
  3. Thought he slotted in well on the first line. I actually thought that they played better once he started playing with them.
  4. Cue people overreacting based on one good prelim game in the past few months. Oh wait, it already happened! Today wasn't the outlier, it was the last game.
  5. Came here to read the excuses. Was not disappointed /100. And I can't believe that some people are saying that he didn't have a bad game. You couldn't make this up!
  6. Funny because if you take a look at the actual posts, the opposite is true. Being technical: hard isn't it? Get over it guys, he didn't get a letter. It's not that big a deal honestly.
  7. Exactly. I think the nut riding crowd got hit the hardest for some reason. He simply didn't get a letter. End of.
  8. I know it's a stretch but the argument still stands. He simply didn't get one. There's no use in deploying these straw man excuses, no one's arguing that it makes him a worse player.
  9. I agree that JV not getting a C or A doesn't make him any less of a player but this is a bs excuse. He just didn't get one. Do you think that if McDavid got released late that he wouldn't get at least an A?
  10. It's ironic because they say that we jump the gun and now all the nut riders are all aboard the bandwagon now that he's had ONE good EXHIBITION game. Ugh. I never wanna hear that accusation again after what I'm reading today.
  11. I'm not someone who's on here much as there's more to life than CDC. Not gonna be a party pooper, Jake played well today. However, just as you guys tell me to not jump the gun, I'll remind you to do the same as it's only a prelim.
  12. The guy was obviously referring to Jake's hockey IQ and his argument was a plausible one to make. It's only a banality because you want to make it one.
  13. CDC: Where plausible concerns get dismissed with primary school humour. Can't wait till after the World Juniors. What'll the excuse be? Injured? Taking it easy? Learning the game? (despite being with a bunch of other prospects). What's fun about this thread is that I can go MIA and still rest assured that I don't have to do much talking because Jake will be doing it for me.
  14. Have you even watched him play the past week? I'm guessing no. I also find it amusing when people tend to pass their opinions on a player they haven't watched. Same can be said for another guy on here who said he was good in junior despite never watching him play with Calgary. The Hockey's Future stats nerd force is strong in this thread.
  15. If you're objectively saying that he's been good thus far then no wonder other fan bases ridicule Canucks delusion.
  16. ...or could it be that Team Canada usually bases their call ups on previous selections and guys with NHL experience (all of which Virtanen has?). I didn't question TC management, don't put words in my mouth; I'm just blatantly stating that JV has been playing like he doesn't belong. Whether or not you want to admit that to yourself is your problem.
  17. I stated why and you conveniently look away. He is not playing at the level that is expected of him considering that he's got some more development under his belt and that he was drafted No. 6. Based on his play, he DOES NOT deserve to be playing in team Canada. His level of play has been way below average whether you want to admit it or not. Don't be ignorant. You don't have to score to play well. JV has not been playing well.
  18. There we go with the hyperboles again. He's a 6th overall pick and older than some of his teammates in TC. Yet after the last couple games JV has been played scarcely and, quite frankly, looks like he doesn't belong in this team. inb4 excuses, saying that we're haters, calling us delusional, etc.
  19. And what don't you understand about a 6th overall pick, two years from his draft year playing way below average in a junior tourney? I'm guessing you're gonna put your head back in the sand and add me to your ignore list too huh?
  20. You, sir, hit the nail on the head. Vancouver definitely isn't for everyone. However, for someone outdoorsy and with money to burn, I'm sure Boeser will like it just fine.
  21. It's far more unrealistic to compare him to Perry and the likes. Just because you want to compare him to the NHL elite doesn't mean that it's more accurate. I like the Booth comparison because he's extremely similar in playing style and physical attributes. As much as people want to deny it, you know it's not that far off.
  22. Still wondering why people hate this comparison. Booth pre-concussion put up goals, was fast, and was not afraid to lean in with the body - this is everything people want in JV. Just because people don't like Booth doesn't mean they're not similar.
  23. Right, because ridiculing posters who don't coincide with your ideas is something you never do... I'll withdraw from this specific conversation as I don't personally believe that watching him play once in person constitutes an educated opinion and therefore I don't see why I should continue to argue with you.
  24. 6th overall forward putting up ppg in the minors isn't anything to write home about. Also, people who actually watched the hitmen know that a lot of his 31 assists were secondary/unimpressive. If this is your supporting claim for why he should play in the NHL than you're doing a damn bad job. The guy was extremely mediocre after his injury. The fact that you say that his bounce back was good and that he had outgrown his peers only tells me one thing: that you didn't watch a single minute of him in juniors.
  25. Size isn't everything. JV wasn't even first line material in his last season in the WHL... Do you even hockey?
