  1. Maybe I misread the article but I’m surprised so many posters are honing in on the child support payments. Aquilini has enough money to settle that. What Aquaman should be more worried about are the child abuse allegations. Depending on which way those allegations go it could cost Aquillini his position with the Canucks (or worse).
  2. Is it really considered taking a discount when you become the highest paid player in the league? There are literally zero comprables lol.
  3. Not a fan of Bear. Fell onto the Oilers’ lap when they most needed a farm-produced defender and got undeservedly hyped. Most definitely a no go for me if the trade involves Hoglander.
  4. I don’t think it’s that straight forward. I’m sure guys like Hammond would prefer to stay in North America (assuming he didn’t get an offer in Europe), but the pay cuts in lower NA leagues are precipitous in comparison to the NHL.
  5. As rent free as the hundred dolts on here that almost bet their life on players like Gudbranson, Sbisa and Virtanen being future leaders on this team . I’d disappear too.
  6. I mean, one of us stuck around and the other disappeared so…
  7. I'm willing to wager Jake goes to Calgary. There's a lot of Roxy-like country clubs there.
  8. Maybe he's just not as valuable as people here made him out to be. He's a decent bottom-sixer, but CDC overly inflated his value in large part due to posters like OldNews gushing over him with every chance they had.
  9. This couldn’t have been nice to hear from Boeser’s side.
  10. I’m amazed that’s all you actually got out of that entire interview
  11. Not sure you instill confidence when you follow up “I wanna stay in Vancouver” with “it’s a business”.
  12. Staying in the moment and just thinking of the now is precisely the opposite of what a GM is hired to do, especially if such an outlook entails losing our most valuable trade asset in god knows how long for absolutely nothing.
  13. Gonna be weird seeing a Calgary with no Tkachuk, Giordano, Monahan and Gaudreau. For those who say it takes time to change a team’s identity, I think Treviling might have something to say about it.
  14. Are the Avalanche even a feasible trading partner with all their ELCs/cheap contracts that’ll be needing a raise in the near future?
  15. As others have said, not sure Jack Hughes should be there with the sample size they’re using. It’s different if he continues that form throughout the 2022/23 season.
  16. If we could filter out posts like these, we could probably lower it some 200 pages.
  17. I agree that there's a chance. I think the difference between a good and bad GM is being able to avoid such an outcome. It'll be Allvin's first big test.
  18. Oh boy, I really hope JR isn't content with "just getting a playoff run" out of him. We'd be essentially losing one of our biggest assets for zilch.
  19. The problem is, again, the unrealistic cap hits being thrown around. De Haan is not accepting a league minimum contract after coming off a $4.55 mill per contract. He’s 31, not 40.
  20. Pretty sure Gaffar just randomly picked an AHL/NHL tweener to have something to talk about on the show, knowing people wouldn't make much of it either way. Non story really.
  21. Horvat: I want to stay in the organization. Miller: show me the money! I’m no insider, but I have a feeling Horvat will be easier to resign.
  22. Unless Allvin is okay with losing him for nothing (which I doubt he is, because that would make him bad at his job), eventually time will become a factor other teams will use as a variable to pull down the value of assets coming back in a potential trade. Time is of course a factor for Miller, but let's not pretend like it isn't an important factor for us too.
