  1. Not referring to winning a cup. But having some decent playoffs Just imagine being able to retain guys like Edler, Tanev and Toffoli, and having a little something left over for other needs. JB's anchor contracts would've had to give way.
  2. JB also wasted our core’s ELC years by signing bad contracts. I’d take JB the scout any day of the week. Just not the GM version.
  3. Not sold on Crouse. He’s drastically underwhelmed up until now. This would be the epitome of buying high.
  4. Barring an injury or a terrible dip in form, Horvat will be a 30-goal scorer. Who would've thought?
  5. A 4th for Motte is fine. Waiting so much you lose Motte for nothing is not.
  6. I don't agree with the typical "there's nothing out there" excuse. It's a free pass for futility. The very best management teams in the league make deals when they need one. Ultimately, it's only one of a multitude of reasons why we've never won a cup.
  7. Sure, but diminishing value as contracts run down needs to be taken into account. It's not as straight forward as just deciding to trade someone later. The return on the trade will have to be gauged, just as people did with GMJB. And I disagree on management not having enough time to assess the team's needs - by now I'm pretty sure they know full well this team's strengths and weaknesses.
  8. The Dermott acquisition suggests we're buyers (lol) so I don't think Miller's moving right now. I'll refrain from passing judgment for the time being, but I sure hope posters hold JR/PA accountable if this backfires on them. Inb4 Miller for Simmonds, Liljegren and a 5th is deemed a masterclass trade.
  9. This trade deadline is proving to be a seller’s market. Plus, the team acquiring him would have him on his current contract for 2 playoffs, instead of just 1 playoff push. I’d be a little disappointed if it turned out GMPA wasn’t actively exploring getting as much as he can for Miller, especially if it’s based on the premise of making a playoff push this season.
  10. Miller literally putting up temper tantrums during our long losing streak with Green was lamentable and cringe to see. That’s not a leader. Well then it’s gotta be Myers because absolutely no one is gonna want to touch that OEL contract with a 10-foot pole.
  11. I repeat, a guy who only leads when things are going well is not really a leader. This group will be fine. It’s getting clearer by the day that JT is gonna chase the money. I don’t see how we retain him with contracts like OEL’s and Myers’ on the books.
  12. It’s been a tough last 10 games for OEL. At his contract, dude’s a total anchor. The Erikson replacement has arrived.
  13. Hurts to say but it’s about time we started thinking about being sellers.
  14. Either GMPA is trying to throw off the league or these rumors are pure fake news. Allvin’s said on multiple occasions that the area in need of strengthening are the forwards, yet many of these rumors are linked to dmen. Confusing.
  15. One of the things that JB really messed up on is waiting too long to trade assets, leading to the team missing out on quite a bit of value. I just hope Allvin doesn't make the same mistake. If a good enough offer comes for Miller, taking into account the fact we only have him on his current contract for 1 more year, I hope GMPA makes the right choice. I understand that no fan wants to see their team lose their best player, but at some point asset management needs to come first. Just imagine seeing Miller walk next year. Would be insane.
  16. The Roxy’s owner must be ecstatic to welcome back his best customer.
  17. Not 100% sold on Makar being head and shoulders above Hughes. I think Quinn and even Miro would notch more points than their current totals if you give them first pairing minutes on the Avalanche.
  18. There’s a difference between what you’re describing and what Miller actually does. Y’all definitely have short term memory if you can’t even remember Miller literally pouting on the ice not too long ago. I don’t usually agree with Stawns but he’s on point with this one.
  19. Both were bust picks. Many of Jake’s early games were undeserved - even most of CDC agreed that he should have been in Utica. As for Juolevi, being put on waivers after one of the best teams in the league took a shot on you makes him harder to defend. Both are busts. It happens.
  20. Still don’t understand how you can compare drafting histories when Benning predominantly drafted high first-round while Gillis drafted late first-round.
  21. Once you subtract all the mediocre non-playoff teams who naturally don’t have a 1C, that threshold becomes a little bit more realistic.
