  1. Dont think we have the cap for Hakanpaa now, probably just Schenn if he takes close to min contract.
  2. Benn was cheaper and on a shorter contract, was signed to be a 5/6 Dman just didn't work out. They giving Poolman #5 Dman money and pretty much the last of our available cap. If he spends more that 5 games in the press box not due to injury we are in trouble.
  3. I dont think they are paying Poolman 2.5 million to sit in the press box. No more cap room for another top 4 Dman as well.
  4. Not his best signing, 2.5 mil seems a little high for a bottom pairing guy with limited offense, especially with that kinda term. He will help the team though. We will likely have three Dmen making at least 6 million, most likely 2 making over 7 million. Need cheap guys to fill out the bottom pairing. Personally i think 2 million should be the cap for botttom pairing guys.
  5. Yeah just saw that, but we can fill the rest of the bottom 6 with min contracts.
  6. Damn he would have looked good with us. Hopefully Luke schenn coming our way.
  7. Yeah we are still looking good. Good value on the deals so far today.
  8. Good signing, our D would have been pretty bad this year.
  9. Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Garland Hoglander - Dickinson - Podkolzin Motte - Sutter - MacEwen Highmore Ekman-Larsson - Myers Hughes - Hamonic Juolevi - Schenn Rathbone Demko Halak
  10. For having a front office that's greatest strength is drafting we probably shipped out too many 2nd rounders, but no need to live in the past. Especially seeing picks like Demko and Hoglander in the second. I feel like the end of the first and beginning of the second rounds are when good scouting is like gold.
  11. Buying his 25 -30 year old seasons, much better than 30-35 like he has done in the past. Good fair deal.
  12. I saw one reputable publication (might have been Button) that had Ovechkin listed as his comparable though not just the shot, and again while that is ridiculous I do believe Guenther has the best shot in the draft. At the end of the day he is a winger though and I think we will be OK, as we need Dmen way more. If one of the top 4 Dmen was available I think it would have made this trade alot more uncomfortable.
  13. The easy part is qualifying them, hopefully we see some signings soon starting with Petey.
  14. His floor is probably 40 point winger in NHL, Ive seen his shot described as Ovechkin like. He wont ever be an Ovechkin but even having his name mentioned when talking about comparables is pretty impressive. Time will tell.
  15. Fair trade in my opinion, helps the Canucks out now (next 4 years), and helps the Coyotes in the future 3+ years down the line. Hard to judge the trade until Garland is signed though, Canucks also have to be competing for the cup in the next 2-4 years to make this a good trade. The only problem I see currently is that we have to try and get past teams like the Lightning and Av's who currently have a good margin on us. We kinda need Petey to reach Mckinnon and Kucherov level.
  16. With high end prospects like Guenther there is always a chance they could become a 100 point star player, but if Garland can put up 60 points this season, it is worth the risk I agree.
  17. I didnt mind the Detroit picks Edvinsson and Costa are good pieces. I would say Ottawa was the clear loser on the day, god awful picks.
  18. Even though the Canucks had some really good picks, I think the winners of the draft were Columbus followed by Minnesota (Brackett).
  19. Looking back it could be a great move, if he turns out to be Shea Weber 2.0. To be fair they took him ahead of where alot of people had him ranked.
  20. Do you know who he was mainly playing with in Zona, was he playing with Keller or Kessel on the powerplay? Cant say I watched too many of their games. Hoping we can sign him to a team friendly deal.
  21. Hate to say it but Guether is likely going to be alot better than Garland. His 2.0 points/1.0 goals per game is pretty ridiculous, he will probably be a 30 goal and 60 points winger but has a good chance of being a 40 goal 80 point winger as well. Even though he only had 12 games, the last 18 year old draft eligible player that I can remember to put up 2.0 pts/game in the WHL was Patrick Marleau.
  22. Looks like a good swing for the fences type pick, I trust our European scouts as they have killed it in the last few years. Would have probably taken Raty or Chibrikov personally but we will wait and see Klimovich is such a fairly unknown wildcard in the draft.
