  1. Kinda seems like Benning was saying there is a consensus top 9, which bodes very well for us.
  2. Its not that anyone is thinkin Podkolzin is crap, 2019 is just shaping up to be a very strong draft year especially from the top 10 picks. Guys like Hughes, Kakko, Dach, Cozens, Seider, Byram, Zegras, Caufield look to be on their way to be top players for their teams. Other guys like Newhook, Turcotte, and Krebs are developing nicely as well. I think 8-12 spot in a re-draft is fair depending on opinion. Hoglander could past Podkolzin in a re-draft ranking soon as well. Hoglander is third in NHL goals scored from this draft behind only Kakko and Hughes.
  3. Hate to say it but I don't think Podkolzin wouldn't go top 5 in a re-draft for 2019. Id say Podkolzin at 10 is fair value.
  4. Powers very well rounded and Eklund is mostly just a size thing. Guenther is another guys that is suppose to be pretty well rounded.
  5. I'm sure we will get the unbiased scientific report from China any day now. They didn't even let WHO in there to investigate until like 3 months after the fact.
  6. The first cluster was reported in a wet market a couple miles away from the highest level Bio Lab in China studying Corona Virus, that had multiple for citations for safety over the years (workplace safety has never been a strong point for China). I'm not a believer in conspiracy theories, but seems very possible an employee was accidentally infected then stopped for groceries on the way home or a bat escaped from the lab and someone ate it. Sometimes when there is smoke there is fire.
  7. An individuals reprieved risk is likely infulenced by fear, especially if death is on the table.
  8. My stance is still caution is the result of fear. So essentially the same thing as they go hand in hand.
  9. Like most good decisions in life is should be made weighing the risk and reward. There needs to be balance.
  10. No only because looking both ways (a precaution) eliminates that fear and is easy to do, if you blind folded me and had me cross the street I'm sure I would feel the fear.
  11. I would argue that the fear is getting seriously injured or death by a motor vehicle and looking both ways is a learned precaution based on those fears and the fears of your parents.
  12. @Jimmy McGill Fear is a natural reaction to danger, it can sometimes be irrational but in most cases it is a rational survival emotion based on what your brain thinks is a danger to you.
  13. Is being cautious and fearful not the same thing, is caution not used due to the fear of a negative outcome? At some point if people are getting both vaccines there will be a time where the isolation, stress, lack of freedom, and missed experiences outweigh the risks of coronavirus and I dont think we are far from it due to herd immunity. Once everyone gets their second dose the risks of hospitalization and death are manageable.
  14. Depends if the Chinese lab designed it that way
  15. I think by August 1st things will be back to normal and this virus will be behind us. We cant live in fear forever, I think once everyone has had a opportunity to get the second shot who wants it, its fair game after that.
  16. All good, the wide range in opinion on Edvinsson could be caused by some consistency issues.
  17. To be fair Canada did outclassed most teams in the U18 Tourny. I personally dont buy the whole low IQ thing with Edvinsson, Ive seen much improvement in his gap control and breaking up rushes. Some scouts have him as a top 5 pick in this draft and really like him and others are still on the fence, will be interesting to see where he goes. If here is there, I could see the Canucks taking him, the prospect of a potential 6'6" 2 way defender might be too enticing. Personally I think if Kent Johnson and Edvinsson were both available I would lean towards Johnson. Some other factors that could encourage Canucks to draft Edvinsson are success of guys like Ohlund and Edler in our market and our recent success drafting out of Sweden.
  18. Im kinda the opposite with those three if I had to order them Id go, Johnson, McTavish, then Guenther. I dont really see Johnson as a boom or bust player. He has elite skill and IQ, producing at the level he did as a freshman in the NCAA, I dont see any reason that it wouldn't translate to the NHL unless his development stalls. Guys like Makar, Fox, Hughes, Zegras, Farabee, B Tkachuk, Norris, Caulfield, ect have all transitioned quite nicely. Guenther is a great sniper but I think we need a playmaker or power forward center more.
  19. I dont think Lambos makes it to 41 but here's dreaming.
  20. Dont get me wrong I would love to have a good ol' Canadian 2 way center or Physical Dman on the team. Already have one of them in Horvat. Sounds like McTavish is right up your alley though, seems very Canadian, straight out of the bush.
  21. Three best players on the best team in NHL right now, 2 russians and a swede. (Kucherov, Vasilevsky, Hedman)
  22. Similar to Broberg as he has really good tools and size, Edvinsson is much better defensively than Broberg and he was able to make a big difference on the defensive side of the game at the U18. Just not sure of his offensive upside and makes me a little cautious of using a top 10 pick on him. Some scouts are very high on him though and he is a safe bet to be an NHL defender. If our Euro scouts give you the green light and he is there at 9, zero problem taking him.
  23. Offensively he hasnt moved the needle enough for me, he is a riskier pick that some of the other guys. That said I would not be dissapointed with him at 9th overall.
