  1. Central Scouting does have McTavish at #2 for NA skaters as well.
  2. That's the smart move, gives him time to develop properly away from that cess pool. Michigan will be stacked next year, probably favourites to win a NCAA title, not going to win $&!# in Buffalo.
  3. Personally I think the Canucks need more skilled guys who are willing to carry the puck into the offensive zone and make high end plays to generate scoring chances. I get pretty tired of every time we get to the blue line we dump it in and chase. I agree he can be a bit selfish with the puck but on most teams he has played he was twice as skilled are everyone on the team.
  4. I think you are pretty off with your assessment of Johnson's defensive game. It is actually pretty decent, he has played center his whole career before this year and probably only cause Beniers was there. Attached is one scouting report on his defense. Defensive Game Johnson is also good in the defensive end of the ice. He does a good job of bringing pack pressure against the rush. Johnson also understands his responsibilities in his own end, supporting the defence down low and working to cut off the cycle. He is good positionally and keeps him body between his man and the net. Johnson uses his stick to cut down passing lanes as well as to poke check opponents. This is another area where lack of muscle on his frame is a detriment right now though, as he can sometimes be pushed around by bigger opponents. When his team is able to retrieve the puck, Johnson is able to quickly transition to offence and creates opportunities by getting up the ice quickly both with and without the puck. https://lastwordonsports.com/hockey/2021/04/26/kent-johnson-scouting-report/ The main concern about Johnson is he has a Petey Bod, but it hasnt stopped him from being efective. If he can add more muscle with another year of college, Johnson could be a dynamic player at 180lbs.
  5. Yeah but he will skyrocket in the final combined rankings. Most of the more recent rankings have him in top 10.
  6. If we got Johnson, our powerplay would be dominant for many years. Johnson - Petey - Podkolzin Boeser - Hughes Miller - Horvat - Hoglander Myers - Rathbone
  7. My best guess at the moment how the draft plays out: 1. Power 2. Beniers 3. Clarke 4. Hughes 5. Eklund 6. Edvinsson 7. Guenther 8. Johnson 9. McTavish
  8. Maybe somewhere in the middle between both of you, Boeser + our 1st could easily move us up 6 spots in a draft where the difference in the top 9 players is fairly minimal. They would take that and run.
  9. Now that we have Clark locked up for 5 years, do we draft Wallstedt?
  10. Hopefully the Sedins have some input on the powerplay, Glad Brown is gone but should have been Baumer too. The video coach looks like he belongs on Pawn Stars.
  11. Toffoli is a legit goal scorer, if you have followed his career he is definitely a threat to score 30 goals any given season. He has some injury issues back in 2016-17 that held him back for a couple years but he was finally past all that and I wouldn't be surprised to see him put up 35-40 goals one season in the near future. Toffoli was 28, four years at 17 million is very low risk for a player of his caliber.
  12. One sexually assaults young girls and the other scores OT game winners in the playoffs, think we may have chose the wrong one. It should have been an easy choice, one was a legit 30 goal scoring top 6 winger in his prime willing to take a discount to play here and the other comes into camp out of shape every year and looked terrible in the top 6 every chance he got.
  13. That depends RD's could be a hot commodity at the draft, if im not mistaken we draft like 40th OV in the second round. Mailloux is ranked 45 on Bob Mckenzie's list so not a huge reach. Not likely to be a top 3 Dman but could be an very effective bottom three Dman that brings much needed physicality. Will likely be around 6'4" 225-230 if plays in the NHL (Shea Weber size).
  14. Logan Mailloux is a guy the Canucks should look at with their second round pick. 6'3" 217lbs RD who will likely play for the London Knight next year and just turned 18. Played on a third tier pro team in Sweden this year and put up good numbers.
  15. I dont think OJ for Patrick works as Philly is stacked at LD
  16. SHL is not known for its physicality and the open ice allows you to avoid it easier, but any time you play in a top pro league with grown men you need to have the strength to win battles. Eklund is a boy playing against men in that league.
  17. Also very high on Eklund, both players put up ridiculously good numbers in two extremely hard and physical leagues.
  18. Id feel very lucky if Johnson was there at 9, he has elite skill. I think it will translate to the NHL just fine based on his success in the NCAA in his draft year. NCAA is a very tough league for an 17-18 year old.
  19. His positioning and technique are his best assets and are definitely world class given his age.
  20. Powers would be best to put off signing with buffalo for as long as possible, so he can actually become a good player in a non toxic environment. Kinda sad that the Sabres before this draftt have drafted in the following spots overall the last 10 years and were still by far the worst team in the league. 2020: #8 2019: #7 2018: #1 2017: #8 2016: #8 2015: #2 2014: #2 2013: #8 2012: #12 + #14 2011: #16
  21. I dont think so, if you want to rush him you could force it, we tried that with Virtanen didnt work out great. McTavish is still pretty raw, will take longer because he is a center. For reference Alex Turcotte who was a #5OV pick and more refined defensive game than McTavish has yet to play an NHL game after two season post draft. Only Cozens, Dach, Kakko, and Hughes have played at least half a season after two years.
  22. To be honest I'd say none if you want to develop them properly, but Power and Beniers could probably play next year. I think if done right Powers, Beniers, and Eklund are in the NHL not next season but the one after, everyone else 2+ years.
  23. Haha Hasek did look like he was getting lucky all the time. I remember the 1998 Olympics when Hasek almost single handedly took down the juggernaut Team Canada and went on to win gold on his back, it was other worldly. Team Canada Goalies: Patrick Roy Brodeur Dmen: Ray Bourque Rob Blake Pronger Scott Stevens Al McInnis Adam Foote Forwards: Gretzky Sakic Lindros Yzerman Linden Shanahan ect.
  24. Goaltending is a very hard position to gauge because there are so many different styles, sizes, and is so mentally demanding. My favourite tender was Dominick Hasek and I dont think there will ever he another like him, his style was so unique.
