  1. I can see Bains getting the call up as a fourth liner and after a some time in that role, work his way up the line up. Quickly.
  2. Bieksa and Botteril will have no trouble finding a seat with another network...good riddance and good luck to Amber, McLean and Hrudey. Wonder how long Friedman will put up with the new panel? In this day and age, there are so many other relevant medium for talented people to ply their trade that the good ones will always find a way to be part of our daily lives. Bieksa's future in hockey will probably be something more than broadcasting.
  3. Gonna make a bold prediction...Arshdeep Bains will become the modern day Alexandre Burrows in the next 24 months. He's going to get a call up, and after that, he will never look back.
  4. Sounds like the same rhetoric that been spewed about Gillis, Benning and whoever else.
  5. ^^^^^These^^^^^. Canucks as an organization has done well to honour its past players, almost to a fault. For a team that is lacking historical star power (i.e., Hall of Famers, Cup winners - which is hard to have when the team's only been the finals 3 times in 50+ seasons, perennial all-stars, etc.), it's done well with its jersey retirements, ring of honour, etc. Just an opinion, but the notion of holding #11, #28, #37 and #38 out of circulation is unnecessary (though I have a big soft spot in my heart for Rick Rypien). Notwithstanding the tragedy that is loss of human life, what is Maki's legacy? He played 2 1/2 seasons with the Canucks and was deemed a "star" of the team of nothings (110 points in 154 games while healthy during an era Esposito was scoring nearly a goal a game, Orr was revolutionizing what an offensive dman can do is hardly "star" material or what legends are made of). It's time to let that one go.
  6. Would have to agree with you @guntrix. Revisionist history being what it is, I can't believe I thought Benning was going to do something worthwhile when he was hired. His stupidity was on full display anytime he spoke in public. I can't believe I drank the Benning kool-aid for the first few years he was here. Drafting Fat Jake and Ollie Juolevi ahead of you-know-who should have tipped me off. Drafting genius...my ass. Funny how he hasn't found a meaningful gig since his firing from the Canucks.
  7. Benning gaffed with the LE signing and further exacerbated the matter by trading a package that included one deadbeat Swede for a package that included another deadbeat Swede. Leave it to Benning to throw someone else's money at Swedes whose best before date is long passed. At the very least, Allvin has shown the ability to keep his money clip in his suit jacket when it comes to chasing useless/washed up Swedes, and is only doling out ELCs and modest ELC+1 contracts at young prospects from his homeland.
  8. At a similar cap hit, I would take Clifton over Bear. My only cause of concern about Clifton is adding another sub-6' dman to an undersized back end. Though Bear was an upgrade on the right side, he's a Carolina retread who lost his job to Jalen Chatfield.
  9. Looks like JL has filled out a little from last summer. From photo, looks like he's got shooters forearms. Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see? Southpaw...right side brain thinker. Explains his creativity on the ice. Is it just me, or do you guys see some Patrick Kane in Lekkerimaki's skill set? A little bit of Mitch Marner as well. Will be a home run if Allvin's first pick as Canucks' GM turns into 75%-80% of Kane/Marner. No pressure.
  10. That's because we have guys named JT, Oliver, and Tyler on this club. Kraken 5 Pettersson 6 Wasn't a team win tonight. Pettersson should be awarded 5 points plus 2 for the win. 7 point night for Pettersson.
  11. I'm all for a Miller buy out. Could care less about thie optics.
  12. Same dribble and slop that we've been hearing from this guy for awhile. Talk is cheap. Especially with this guy.
  13. Nice pass on the PP that ended up in the Canucks net, hey? How many more of these Sh!t the bed moments do we need to watch from this guy? I've gone from being a big fan/supporter of Miller to the guy that wants him out of here for a bag a pucks. Even that might be an overpayment for Miller.
  14. I feel the same way about these Canucks like I felt about my first wife...even after divorcing her, I felt compelled to check in on her and see how she was doing. Sort of what I'm doing with this version of the Canucks. In the past 10+ years, there was only a smattering of players that I despised on the Canucks...Vrbata and E r i k s s o n were players I simply hated. With this version of the Canucks, I've developed an unhealthy hate on for Miller, OEL, Garland, Myers and Stillman. So much so that it's overriding my love for Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, and the rest of the team. Someone help me, please.
  15. OEL still sucks at hockey. He's the defenceman version of Loui E r i k s s o n. Stealing money from the franchise.
  16. Only if Allvin had balls like Guerin, and pulled a bold move like dumping Suter and Parise by buying out Miller and OEL. But we all know FA, JR, and PA are fluffers, unlike Bill Guerin.
  17. The best thing that could happen to the Canucks is if OEL simply retired. Failing that, a Marian Hossa rash so he can spend the rest of his career on LTIR. Failing that, a buy-out. The guy is brutal. While the Canucks are at it, get rid of Myers. Been a supporter of him, but have come to the conclusion that he's got to go as well. Neither of these liabilities are aging well. Bold move would be to simply eliminate these two from the Canucks roster. For good. Their cap space is worth more than they are.
  18. I hope they're all here to do a scouting report on JT Miller. Oh wait, probably not a good night for opposing team scouts to be watching Miller. Slop, slop, slop. That's what they're seeing with Miller.
  19. Anyone here as sick and tired as I am with the slop Miller keeps serving up? Miller = LIABILITY
  20. The best thing that could happen is for OEL to suffer a Marian Hossa type career ending "injury". Gawd, he's awful. E r i k s s o n and now OEL. Two giant Swedish meatballs served up by the master chef Benning.
