Poor Bruce...lost for words in the post game presser. "Shocking" is what I thought I heard. Welcome to Canuck nation, Bruce. This is what us Canucks fans have been witnessing for the past ten seasons. Too many burn the film games that I've lost track. Halak - doing his best to diminish his TDL value. Guy has turned out to be quite the sieve. Hope he's willing to waive his NMC for a couple of hockey sticks. This could have been the exact same outcome yesterday at MSG had it not been for Demko.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at New York Rangers | Feb. 27, 2022

Here's the narrative that works for me: The Canucks are among the top teams in the NHL since Boudreau's arrival because it has the best save percentage. Demko, and to a lesser degree when compared to Demko, Miller and Hughes, have carried the team on their backs for the entire season, even when they were losing. Allvin has subtly made comments that the standard of play of the current Canucks, whether it be in practice or in games, is lacking, so it appears that the passengers on the train are either going to be rooted out, or have to consistently elevate their commitment to winning. The current roster of Canucks have shown that they can actually play at a high level. The question is whether they can do it consistently over 82 games. The manner in which the Canucks have won their last two games is really encouraging. They've had to depend on Demko, but what team doesn't depend on their goalie when the opposing team pushes hard? Under Boudreau, the Canucks' game management is infinitely better and I'm seeing a whole lot less of the "woe is me" attitude (to quote Boudreau) that was pervasive under Green. I've said this many times before...the Canucks have the cornerstone pieces in Demko and Hughes. Miller has taken ownership of being the go-to guy up front, so as long as the rest of the crew plays as coached, the Canucks should be there competing for a playoff spot at Game 82 of the regular season. It'll be an interesting and fun time to be a Canucks fan down the stretch, something I couldn't have said in November. -
Goal and an assist. Matthew knows how to celebrate a birthday!!! Love this kid. Heart of pit bull in a wheaton terrier body. I hope he has many more birthdays as a Canuck.

Calling the sleazeball Todd Diamond to check in on Tryamkin = stalk calling/texting an old girlfriend who's got on with her life while you keep "hoping" for a return to a romance that probably wasn't there to begin with. Doesn't matter if ex-boyfriend is JR/PA/Benning. It's over...get on with your life.

Awesome post...way to call out that ass-clown loser, @Baggins. Leading candidate for post of the year.
-
You're right about that. I love the nickname Klimovie, as @RomanP has mentioned. Jon Cooper as well...coached Syracuse to Calder Cup championship. Organizations that win the Calder Cup with their young upstarts/prospects and have them graduate to the NHL is a winning formula. The notion of creating a "winning culture" with a bunch of washed up/fringe NHLers at the cost of giving prospects ice time like Benning, Esche, Green, Cull, Johnson, Conacher has tried to do is for losers. Who cares if Abby wins the Calder Cup with Petan, DiGuiseppe, Dries, Rempal, Stephens, Stevens, Bowie, etc.? Not me. I'd rather see Woo, Rathbone, Klimovich, Juulsen, Brisebois, etc. play in all situations and sh!t the bed if it helps with their development and better positions them for NHL careers.
-
Not worried at all about Klimovie's AHL numbers this season. There's a big difference...Virtanen is an immature, narcissistic monkey on skates with no respect for the sport of hockey whose only priority was macking on as many unsuspecting young women as he could, while Klimovie appears to be a young man of character who takes his craft seriously.

That wrist shot and one timers off the left dot looks somewhat reminiscent of Pettersson.

You're referring the "V" jerseys that preceded the flying skate logo/jersey. They were so bad it prompted Tiger Williams to state "we are playing like clowns, so now, they've dressed us up as clowns."

Time has come for Pettersson to take ownership of his place on the ice. Time for him to stop taking what he's given on the ice and for him to start taking everything without it being offered to him as if it belongs to him (if that makes any sense to anyone). I love it when the teams I love play like raging bulls instead of a bunch of jersey cows. -

These Canucks are quite the team when EVERYONE in the core group and beyond decides to show up and play the full 60 minutes. This may have been one of the best two complete games I've seen the Canucks play this season. Hopefully this is what Canucks fans can expect to see down the stretch and into the future. Playoffs are still a long shot, but at least there is hope. I'm wondering if the Canucks have turned the corner...that is, have the Travis Green system knocked out them and the Bruce Boudreau system becoming second nature. The Canucks, last night, looked like they were playing with both pace and quickness (especially on the PP), something that has been sorely lacking since the AV days. I'm going to bet that behind the warm, engaging, friendly exterior we see from Bruce Boudreau, he's a no-nonsense, get the job done, tough-love, and make no excuses kind of man. Hope he gets extended beyond next season so he's not a lame duck coach on an expiring contract in 2022-23. -
Nice goal by Jasek...hopefully with the new regime, Jasek will return and be given a fair shot at making the NHL roster. But that gold helmet. I know it's a recognition of Jasek's fine play from the previous game(s), but, isn't it something like this: https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/google-image-result-for-http2bpblogspotcom_z9_dp3qcbzus4bejjejzliaaaaaaaaaxunnlaclzdbies320birt--255438610085371876/

@TNucks1...thanks for asking. This thread is like a bad car crash on the Trans Canada Highway. You don't want to look at the carnage, but you just can't help but rubberneck it as you drive by.

Possible good fit for the Bruins...at the very least, the Bruins college scouts have been able to keep tabs on him being a train ride from Boston to Providence. Good NW Mass boy trying to crack Bos Mass team. Gonna bet he was a Bruins fan as a kid. Edit - never mind what I just wrote. Sid wrote the same, but much more eloquently a few minutes ahead of me.

You can't have all Ferraris and Porches in the fleet...you need a heavy duty truck (preferably with duelies - maybe the new electric Hummer), a nice reliant automobile (something like a Honda Accord) or a Toyota Camry), a minivan (Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna are my choices), a full size SUV like a Toyota Forerunner, a mini SUV like an Acura RDX or a BMW X3, a compact/fuel efficient car like the Honda Civic, and a PEV like a Tesla. It's like Jon Cooper described his third and fourth liners...you need a good truck to get you through the mud. That's what Gadjovich could have been for the Canucks, but no...Benning thought the washed up Chiasson was a better option.

I have utmost respect for Motte, Tootoo, Carcillo, Boogaard, Probert, Rypien, Ferland, Lehner, Joe Murphy and every other player who have battled health issues of all kinds and would never consider these men as anything less than warriors. More respect for these players/men than those who breeze through their NHL careers. Just don't tell me that they wouldn't sign as UFAs with a certain team because the fanbase is rabid. That's just something that guys like you make up. -

No quarrel from me that Bo Horvat is a good player. But that's what he is -- a good player. He's a third line shut down guy, who is on a level below Patrice Bergeron and Ryan O'Reilly. Unfortunately that's what fans in Vancouver want and expect him to be. Like most players before him, Bo has been miscast with fans expecting him to be a consistent goal scorer/offensive player and a big-bodied bang it up kind of player. I have no doubts he is a good leader, but he's not a great leader that most championship teams have. And you're probably right that Horvat is banged up in some form or another (but so is every single other player in the NHL). I went to school with Craig Ostir at University of Manitoba and played in the Winnipeg South Monarchs/Blues AAA hockey program with him and I'm told that Vancouver is not a destination spot for UFAs because the team lacked clear direction under the previous regime (to quote Ostir, the Canucks were a "cluster-phuck"). "Burn at the stake fans" doesn't even register with agents and players -- this is made up by holier than thou fans who can't bear to hear over-the-top criticism about the team and players they hold dear to them. When it comes down to it, it's about money and the opportunity to win that drives UFAs to go where they go. And that comes not from me, but a Super Agent. And please, 90% of the players in pro hockey are tough as nails, physically and mentally. Most thrive under the pressure and stress that comes with performing at an elite level and being professional athletes. About 10% are snowflakes. Please don't paint all the players with the snowflake brush. -

The clown you're quoting makes it sound like E r i k s s o n carried Bo and made Bo a better hockey player. That makes me LMFAO. -

Just a few are allegedly "throwing Bo under the bus". And yah, fans who speak badly about their core players are the VERY REASON why UFAs don't sign in Vancouver. Get real. One thing that Bo consistently does season after season is go into hiding for long stretches in the regular season. Whether it's injury induced or otherwise, you can't have your captain go missing on the ice like Bo does. He's a likeable player, and perhaps he was thrown into the captaincy role too early in his career. But calling a spade a spade, he isn't delivering on the ice like a captain should be this season. The team doesn't need a captain that turns over tables and shows emotions at every turn, but good God, show up every night. Who knows, if the captaincy was taken from Bo, he might actually be a better/consistent player on a nightly basis for the Canucks and we wouldn't be having a conversation of a possible Horvat trade. Bo will never be the Ryan O'Reilly-type captain that everyone expects/hopes him to be. He tops out as a third line centerman and should be compensated accordingly. If Bo was the full time shut-down centerman on the Canucks giving you 15 goals / 15 assists a season, wearing the "A", it would mean the Canucks would be a bonafide Cup contender. Bo as your no. 1 or no. 2 centerman and captain means the Canucks are a bunch of pretenders (which is where the team is right now). -

Quality is a word that should never be associated with E r i k s s on. He's too slow, ineffective, and lazy to play any meaningful role on an NHL team since 2016. He's demonstrated through his whole career that he only shows up during his contract year. Stupidest move Benning ever made was wasting a dime of Aquilini's money on this plug. Happiest day of my life as a Canuck fan was the day they shipped his sorry @$$ out of Vancouver. E r i k s s o n plays hockey like he handles his off-ice business. Like a bumbling idiot. Boudreau would have had no problem singling out E r i k s s o n for his lazy play if he were still here. Actually something that I would have loved to have seen. -

Bo, JT, Petey...not a single one of the current core can nor will ever match Steamer's intensity and identity. Guys like Steamer don't exist in today's NHL. There's way too much "touchy-feely" snowflake primadona behaviors from all of today's players. Even the marginal guys behave this way. Bo, JT, Petey are no exception. Closest player we had to Steamer was Tiger Williams. No one talks about the heart Tiger brought to the Canucks. I'll repeat one last time...Bo can't match what Steamer brought every game...JT can't match what Steamer brought every game...Pettersson can't match what Steamer brought game. These guys take shifts and nights off. -
