  1. No quarrel from me. A statue is so much more nicer (especially for the pigeons outside of Rogers Arena) than just a name emblazoned inside the building, don't you think?
  2. Sorry to pile on the Jim Benning hate and maybe it's a simple matter of semantics, but Benning failed to build anything in Vancouver. He may have went to the hockey store and bought some good parts, but he failed to assemble it properly. He bought a couple of Mercedes parts, a BMW part and maybe even a Porsche part. He also bought a bunch of POS American brand parts made in Mexico and China. He ended up with something that couldn't get out of first gear because none of the parts were compatible. And he paid a premium for the POS parts made in Mexico and China trying to tell all of us these were genuine OEM parts, when he could have bought these off of Amazon for next to nothing. So, not to be argumentative @GB5, Benning didn't build much of anything.
  3. Some people here think Dickinson with his negative equity can be thrown into a deal. If Patrick Allvin can move Dickinson without giving up too much sweeteners, he deserves a statue right next to Roger Neilson.
  4. The sensible ones are saying that Trent Cull was trying to get Woo into the lineup anyway he could without disrupting the winning run/chemistry the team was on. Lots of fans throwing the baby out with the bathwater and they want to pull the old "dumperoo" on Woo without having conducted a fair evaluation on the kid. Like some have observed and commented, Woo has had very little game action over his first two pro seasons with Covid/injuries. No doubt this will be a big season for Woo. I'm sure he's doing what he has to do to prepare for what may be the biggest hockey season of his life. I hope Woo fares well and probably will with Komisarek in the fold. Canucks could use a player with Bieksa-like potential in the organization. Same for Brady Keeper. Same for Noah Juulsen.
  5. The kid is finally becoming a man at 23 years old. It's time to own the NHL, and stop being the human zamboni he's been the past couple of seasons. If Pettersson can piece together the last 30 games of the 2021-22 season into a full 2022-23 season, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Otherwise, he may as well be the reincarnation of Jorgen Pettersson.
  6. You want a glass of chardonnay with ice to go with that?
  7. Jarkko Ruutu + Max Lapierre = Alex Burrows. But do we really need him? Hell yah.
  8. Quinn Hughes and Nikita Tyramkin. Could you imagine Quinn Hughes talent/skill in a 6' 8" 265 lbs. body?
  9. To each their own. Love it when people express their hate for something. Me, I hate Jason Dickinson.
  10. Call me a homer, but U2, one of my favorite bands of all time, wouldn't be U2 without Daniel Lanois...Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby...Peter Gabriel as well.
  11. Bob Rock and Paul Hyde. May have been one of the most under-rated duos of all time.
  12. Hopefully you never have wanted to go full-on Van Gogh with your tinnitis.
  13. Giroux's 923 career points in 1,018 games, career +34 on questionable teams, F/O win pct. of 55.8%, ability to do this over 13+ seasons, matched up against top opposing centres say otherwise (81 points in 95 playoff games). His numbers are comparable to Anze Kopitar (1,067 points in 1,210 games; career +63 and 52.8% faceoffs, plus 70 points in 86 playoff games). Only thing missing from Giroux's resume is a Stanley Cup. Giroux may be one of the most underrated players of his day. Thanks for your opinion.
  14. I consider myself a fan. But I don't get emotionally attached to any player. To me, a player can be an asset or a liability to an organization and that is based on a multi dimensional set of attributes, of which one is how the player fits within a salary cap. This is over simplifying it, but I'm a fan of team success over individual success...I could argue your point that a player who gives you stellar individual performance is good for the team's cause, but in it's totality, such a player may still need to be moved for the betterment of the team's long term fortunes. Timing and circumstances. Hope that doesn't make me a fake fan of the Canucks.
  15. I wish I would have seen Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. I would have settled for David Lee Roth, but Van Halen/Sammy Hagar...would have loved it.
  16. Awesome thread @nuckin_futz. I love threads like this. Above and below is my list. First Concert: AC/DC opening for KISS at the Winnipeg Arena in 1977. Last Concert: Maroon 5 in Las Vegas in 2020. Best Concert: Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA Tour in St. Paul Civic Centre in 1984; U2 Joshua Tree Tour in St. Paul Civic Centre in 1987; The Police Synchronicity Tour in Winnipeg in 1983. Worst Concert: can't say there is a concert I would classify as worst...but of those I've seen, the one I would rank the lowest is David Bowie Glass Spider Tour in 1987 (only because it was in the open air Winnipeg Stadium, probably one of the worst venues for concerts) Loudest Concert: AC/DC and KISS - hearing hasn't been the same. Seen the Most: Bruce Springsteen Most Surprising: Tina Turner Private Dancer Tour in Winnipeg in 1985 and Shania Twain at the Bell Centre when it was the Molson Centre in 1998 in Montreal (was crushing hard on Shania at the time and she was an "unknown" when it came to live concerts...she killed it on her Come On Over Tour, her first). Next Concert: Don't know... Wish I Could Have Seen: Meat Loaf and Michael Jackson Honorable Mentions: Prince at Montreal Jazz Festival in 1998 or 1999; John Mellencamp in 1988 at the Winnipeg Arena, Aerosmith at Calgary Saddledome in 2006 (Motley Crue opened and they sucked); and all the free lunch time concerts at the University of Manitoba form 1983 to 1986 (Northern Pikes, FM/Nash the Slash, Platinum Blonde, Colin James are some I remember).
  17. There you go again with your sound observations. You're not living up (or down) to the CDC standards @Vinny in Vancouver
  18. I was having a conniption as I was thinking about the false sense of brilliance that I thought the long suffering Canucks fans like I were getting with the Benning hire. Oh how wrong I was. AGM and Head Amateur Scout is about the highest pay grade Benning qualifies for. I don't know what to say about Chiarelli other than I'm glad it was the pedophile Katz that signed him (or was it Kevin Lowe?) and not Aquilini. Edit: need to add that you gotta give the Oilers credit for terminating Chiarelli long before Aquilini terminated Benning.
  19. I wouldn't say best, but I would say most versatile. Can play in all situations, fairly durable, can play the game any style. If Bo didn't go on his usual 20-game disappearing act every season, he would be the best centerman on the Canucks roster and could be spoken in the same category as Patrice Bergeron and Ryan O'Reilly and Claude Giroux.
  20. That Jacobs family/Delaware North Cos.---> evil geniuses. Chiarelli and Benning let loose on two unsuspecting western Canadian franchises. Only. to. set. these. franchises. back. at. least. a. couple. of. cycles. by. unleashing. bumbling. idiots. on. them. All the more reason to hate the Jacobs family.
  21. Right up there, with Kramerica.
  22. Because that's what it's worth. I wouldn't pay $10 for that. And I spend money like a drunken sailor.
  23. Yah...the cartoonish Johnny Canuck depicts the "fearless and hardworking Canadian lumberjack" that you describe. He looks more like twinkle toes running away from his gay lover's boyfriend. Give me the Giants version of Johnny Canuck and I'll buy into the Johnny Canuck theme. But twinkle toes? No thanks.
  24. Sorry, are you advocating going back to having ties? I personally like there is a winner and a loser each game. A regulation win should be worth more than an OT/SO win. OT/SO loss should be given a point. Hence, each game worth three points in the standings. You get either get 3, 2, 1 or 0.
  25. No thanks. Hockey with time and space would be like watching soccer. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. 200' by 85' is plenty of ice surface for the game to be played with quickness.
