  1. Looks like Chris Osgood...time in STL sandwiched between his days with the Wings.
  2. I believe that would be Bob Froese...his big endorsement deal was with a hair weave product for men. Peter Zezel and Mike Krushelnyski in the background?
  3. Gary "Bones" Bromley...played a season for the old WHA Winnipeg Jets, sharing the net with Joe Daley. Looks like the picture was taken at the old Winnipeg Arena on Maroons Rd. John "Sparkell" Markell a speedy LW on the Jets is in the background. EDIT: In after Tearloch7.
  4. Murray Bannerman, ex-Canuck draft pick. Love the mask.
  5. John "Cheech" Garrett, king of chicken wings
  6. To add to Dasein's point of the misconception of rolling four lines, we need to take into account the ebb and flow of the game. For example, under AV, when there was a run of penalties against the Canucks, the Sedins sat idle on the bench, and conversely when there was a run of power plays, the Sedins got a lot of ice time. It's rare when each line plays every fourth shift, which is what is implied by the notion of rolling four lines. What I'm glad to see is that JB has assembled depth whereby the Canucks have 12 players upfront that are capable of playing a minimum of 10-12 minutes in most situations (with players having certain strengths and weaknesses) without handicapping the team. I don't think this could have been said for the Canucks over the past two season. Us fans anguishing or projecting appropriate ice time for each line is somewhat futile, because game time circumstances should dictate who plays when and how much on a game-by-game basis, with the numbers smoothing out over the course of a season. With that in mind, if Horvat makes the club as a fourth line centerman or LW, I can see his TOI over the course of the season being anywhere from 6 to 12 minutes with his average TOI coming out to 9 to 10 minutes. If Horvat is good enough to warrant a roster spot, that is sort of what I would expect for him.
  7. Bob Essensa...started his NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets.
  8. Snowman...Garth "everybody $h!t$ on me too" Snow.
  9. Don't let my wife see that gif, G-M...she's gonna beat me over the head with her golf clubs, Tiger Woods style.
  10. You wanted to "get it on", and now you're making me feel all warm and fuzzy about you, Shaky. Sorry I called you a goof.
  11. "Get put"..."dickwad"..."tool"...haven't heard those insults since I was 17. Thanks for taking me down memory lane, there Shaky. You're gonna have to do way better than that with your insults.
  12. Wow...sure doesn't take much to set you off, hey? A little hyper-sensitive I'd say there, old Shaky. You wanna "get it on" on the CDC board? Now that's really funny.
  13. Gotta laugh at these guys who enter a thread on their own free will and write a complaint about it.
  14. Horvat was one of the best two-way junior players in the country this past season. IMO, he and Gaunce play a "pro-ready" game and are physically mature enough for the pro ranks. What both players need is to be able to translate that game at the professional level. Whether that happens this year or next or the year after will be predicated by their ability to adapt to the speed of the NHL. I like that both Horvat and Guance can move between center and LW, which provides them additional opportunity to make the big club. As it is right now, at center, Horvat is behind Hank, Bonino, Vey, Matthias and Richardson; at LW Horvat is behind Daniel, Burrows, Higgins, Matthias and Richardson (I won't include Sestito since he has a specific role that only he can fulfill at this time). The realistic place for Horvat, if he makes the club, will be fourth line center or fourth line LW. In this role, there's nothing wrong with him playing 9 to 11 minutes per game to get adjusted to the NHL speed. IMO, in time, Horvat will be a solid second or third line center for the Canucks. Last time I checked, you have to be a pretty darn good hockey player to fulfill this role in the NHL.
  15. You think Horvat is just warming up? He's got 155 lbs. (looks like a 45/10 plates)...Gaunce on the picture above has what looks like 245 lbs. Subban is short, but he looks like he's got tree stumps for legs and arms.
  16. Tom Draper. Ex-Winnipeg Jet prospect. Picture is probably from when he just got acquired from the Jets (wearing his Jets color mask, though strangely, he's already got his Sabres color pads on). I grew up in Winnipeg and know more useless Winnipeg Jets trivia from 1979 to 1996 than anyone else on the planet. EDIT: That's the only reason why I knew of Doug Soetaert...he and Ed Staniowski gave the Jets the first NHL caliber goaltending since they joined the NHL in 1979.
  17. This one's easy, Vintatge...Jocelyn Thibault.
  18. Ahhh, maybe the kid wants to get his degree.
