Exactly my thoughts Edler gets $&!# on non-stop. To the point where some have even suggested exposing him. When in fact, if the Canucks wouls simply play him a little less and allow him to be the type of D that he is I think he would shine. Of all the rants about players on here, Edler and Sbisa have to be the worst and most uninformed. It's like asking A pitcher to play third base and expect him to bat 3.oo and win a gold glove. Edler is a much better d than given credit for. haters want to point out all his turnovers Has anyone watched some of the elite D on other teams? Doughty Webber etc they also turn the puck over quite a bit Edler plays the wrong role on this club. I really hope he gets A chance to show when played properly he is still a very good player

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

I wouldn't say he is the flames best player. I think Monohan is way better. Considering he is a centre who actually plays a 200-foot game. While JH cherry picks and puts up 17. FWIW Bear Bo and granny all scored more goals Granny and Bare in less or = games. All while playing on a horrible team. Yet still played well on all parts of the ice. -

I get what you're saying sorry. My point still is a valid one as far as points per game Nico has a one-year sample size. sorry didn't mean to get in the middle of a small vs big. debate lol. -

is that based on more than one season? Pretty sure Nico outscored Nolan this year. Nico only had one season to adjust so it puts him at a bit of a disadvantage. The flip side to that is it shows what a Healthy NP can do. When it comes to wingers I dunno for me I just don;t see the value compared to a centre. And some of the others are way to boom or bust. theirs a reason guys like that usually don't go very high in the first, or sometimes not at all. See JH -
I wasn't sure on him. As he is not highlighted in green which on that site says players in green meet requirements. So wasn't sure about gud and Bo. So that means both Bo and gud have to be protected then?
-
is he exempt from the draft? or do we have to protect him? Also on cap friendly, it shows us being able to protect Tanev Edler Sbisa exposing Biega, as all the rest are exempt. am I missing something as to why people are still worried about losing Sbisa?
-
I hope Dahlen comes in and blows everyone's mind. I Have been a huge fan and was pissed when we didn't have a chance to draft him. I think with Tram man gon it opens the door for Brisebious. W hat A great pick by JB The kid has raised his game every year in the q.

damn tooting He better learn to score and use his size more with the like of Olli Fingers crossed timothy lidgrin Brisbous who I really like and Subban He may end up having his rights traded if that happens at some point If that were to happen the that would mean he was never going to be a top d anyway. I really am not too worried about it Like I said he signed a 1-year deal this is all about the go0ld medal and missing his wife. btw can someone post a pic of her or her name
-
I've said since last year, and got bashed for it Sbisa is a good defenceman and will only get better, How can he be only a minus 1? that shows how solid he is back there. pretty sure we had to protect trs=am doesn't khl time count? if so then now we can protect pizza man. Not worried about the loss of tram I hope I will be proven right. I think Tanev and Edler are both gone by the end of the draft. If I'm wrong ill be the first to admit it and take my whipping lol.
-
We still own him. I think he goes back to win a gold medal and then comes back here. otherwise why only sign a one year deal? if he has hopes of the NHL anytime soon it will be with us.
-
I don't think he had all that good of a reg season. Ya he racked up the assists. Like He did in junior most were secondary. 13 goals playing in the top 6 with from what im told a lot of talent. 13 isn't that much. to me, it seems like he used the other players to pad his stats. but hey that's just my take on things
-
I get the jist not good stats, but could someone redo therm so they read like a normal box score am I the only one who can't really read this?
-
UMM MT A first line winger? He had 13 goals playing top minutes all year among some pretty talented guys. Of his 35 assists. Many of them were secondary. Just like in junior. IMO Secondary assists matter a hell of a lot more if they are coming g from a defenceman. I will take a potential #1 a or B defenceman over a guy who pads his stats off the players around him any day. You wanna talk first line wingers? Laine. Marner Leon (made an amazing set up in ot even tho he should have been suspended) Brock Goldy those guys all have some type of it factor. MT is never going to be a game breaker. and he plays the game with no respect ps. PIERRE-LUC DUBOIS had just a terrible season %% points in 48 games. After getting 99 in 63 the year before. Too soon to say but man him and JP did not have good seasons at all. I am liking the Oj pick more and more. Tho I always did and knew right then and there we had A gm with big kahunas... He knew how much crap was going to be said about him by either not moving up or by taking a D at 5th overall. Rumours are rumours, but I read on one the lames fan forums that Boston pizza jr was going to take OJ regardless if Mt was still around. Gms like Chiarelli if he was a good gm would have taken the player that they needed the most. not A winger who will have a tough time being in there top 6. They would have been better off trading down a bit maybe with us and grabbed whatever d they thought was the best. From all accounts, most scouts didn't believe Oj would make it past 6th. In hindsight, I am glad the draft worked out the way it did. Except if we would have gotten Austin or Laine. OH god, imagine the tears from leaf fans. Correct me if I'm wrong last year the Leafs could have done no worse than 2nd. Yet this year col can do no worse than 4th. Was last years draft format in place just last year? or is this a new format starting this year.CHEERS

my mistake I thought you said gretz it was getz either way all you want to do is pick a fight so let's just see how things end up. And when did I compare Gretz to them. please show me And my Dad rip did not play for them all I said was he was friends with them you enjoy making up thing or turning things around go do it to someone else

Sorry not all that tech savvy. heard JB say it about a week before the season was done. on 1040

Logic- To say Jake will not be on the team next year has just as much logic as me saying he might. Logic Most scouts say both of the top 2 are ready now for the NHL They can;t go to the Ahl only back to junior. Logic The Canucks owners want excitement =. meaning it's the young kid's job to lose. Logic studies have shown it takes very little time to adjust t o the smaller ice surface. I am not saying he will make ,but puttng on 15 pounds over the wsummer is not that hard. I never said they are better than Sutter.I said Management wants youth to sell to the fans And if we acquire one of the 2 plus trade for a top 6 winger Sutter would be the odd man out? Of our current top 9, who would you trade instead? \Logic you don't have to be a douche bag when having a discussion. I like a lot of posters feel that he is rthe odd man out. In fact most can't stand him. Go to his page and read all the $&!# said about him. Also rerad how much $&!# I took for sticking up for him. As for not knowing much aboUT Hockey what are you 20? google the Flin flon bombers My dad's too best friends played for them. If you know hockey you won't even have to ggogle them And for the last time I said this was all based on if jb trades a for a top 6 and if we get Nolan or Nico btw both are bigger than Sutter, and both are expected to make the jump this year. Can you tell me the last time a first or second pick didn't make the team right away? ps bo was the 9th pick and perry was a late 1st both moot points g=Gretz did not go back to junior he came from the wha when the oilers joined All I will say is have a nice day and cheers ps how did it work ott for Bo playing 4th the 3rd line minutes? Jarod was a bad example he isnt going to be an nhler

When did I say that that jake would push out Sutter for A job. If you would actually read what I said all this is based on us landing one of the top 2 centres in the draft Who will both be in the Nhl next year. Especially here where we need to sell tickets. Not once did I say Granny was A better at centre. you have no idea tf if Dahlen will be ready. Just like you have no idea if Jake will be on the team as do I You have clearly decided that you are right I am wrong. so be it If we land Nolan or Nico who are both who are centres Where are they gonna play? I am the one that said from the start my theory was based on us picking top 2 and the fact JB said he is going to improve our top 6 this year. You are a typical tanker who wants to ice a $&!# lineup quoting things I never said. JB has clearly said, he is going to improve the top 6. He also said any young guy will have room made for him. I have no shiny new car syndrome. I'm the one who sticks up for Sutter and Edler go read some of my prior posts. I am simply saying if JB lands a top 6 centre and we happen to draft one that would leave Sutter the odd man out as much as I like him. Even tho most people think he is terrible I don't. Please, don;t assume things about me not once have I resorted to pettiness you could at least show the same respect.
-
sorry, my grammar check keeps changing that on me. as far as 2-3 years i hear what you are saying, but think if we could add one of Nolan or Nico and Timothy Liljegren plus trade off Tanev and Edler for top 6 help who knows how further along we would be. I only mentioned Sutter because he is the odd man out if we land one of the 2 centres. Plus we need another top 6 centre after next year. One of those 2 might not be ready So he would probably play on the 3rd line. Again like I have stated in 4 other posts all this depends on what JB does this draft and offseason. For the record I like Sutter and if Dahlen pans out as soon as next year that is one more top 9 spot needed. They have tried Gaunce at centre. it did not work. Chaput really That is who you would want to anchor our third line? And where would Erickson play if jJake and Brock and Goldy make it next year? the 4th line? Cassells and his 10 Ahl points over Erickson? look at ou top 9 next year twins gold brock Bo Sven Granny erickson Jake. Maybe Dahlen maybe Nolan or Nico. where does Sutter fit? JB has said He will make room for the young guys if Dahlen and our 2017 pick earn it and if they happen to be one of the top 2 does that not lr=eave sutter out.?
-
I agree on Jake . This kass love is silly. ! good game. He was literally booed at home on numerous occasions. Look at his stats for this year pathetic. I highly doubt Jake turns out to be like Kass Jake will be a much better player. He is already capable of what Kass does. And this is from a guy who prayed for Kass to turn it around. One game means nothing.
-
sure as A 3rd line centre I never once said to trade for Hopkins to put him as our 3rd line centre that would be retarded All I said was we are pretty much set on wingers we need a 1st line centre for when Hank retirtes. Bo may not even reach that if we luck out and get one of the top 2 picks they can play the 3rd spot until?if they are ready. Bo stays on the second and a guy like Duchene or Hopkins can go on the first. If Dahlen or our 2017 pick turns into that #1 then we have a trade chip or can move to wing.We still have to fill daniels vacancy as well
-
I agree the nuge is not A 3rd line centre. That job would go to Nolan if we end up drafting him Sutter is a great 3rd line centre After bo we have nobody ready to take the 1st line duties or second depending on bos path Dahlen Nico or Nolan might be that 1st or second in the future, but what about the next couple of years. If you look at our top 9 ,Even without Dahlen the only way it works is to move Sutter This is all based on if we draft top 2 and they are NHL ready next year If er do acquire a guy like Duchene or Hopkins It creates more of a logjam this year =., but after hen retires then hopefully it would be Nolan?Nico BO Dahlen If the 2017 pick isn't ready then move Dalen to the wing and the 2017 pick can be the 3rd line centre until ready. Both are big and both can play a 200-foot game very well. My point was we will need a top centre and sSutter is the odd man out and the oilers need one since like you pointed out. The nuge is not 3rd line material
-
I doubt you have A personal grudge against the guy. Most of your posts seem quite the opposite. One thing I keep pointing out is we rushed him B he came to camp the first year and was given crap minutes on the 4th line. That may be fine for a centre who can contribute in other ways like Bo did. It also seemed from the start that he was given every chance to fail by willie. Every time he made a mistake he sat for long stretches, yet guys kike Megna could do no wrong. McCann showed as a centre he was probably not going to cut it which is why JB traded him. Jake had a chance this year to play top 6 minutes, due to injuries, but shot himself in the foot by coming in out of shape and with a bad attitude. He seems to have corrected that and learned how to better play D. Once he was paired with someone with talent, his offence looked much improved. I will use JP from the oilers as an example of the top 4 picks this year, and the 3 who stayed he had by far the worst numbers of the 3. He spent the whole time he played as an oiler on the 3rd-4th line mostly the 4th. He was not given the chance Laine or Mathews were given for a guy that right up until the draft was by some scouts ahead of laine and 2 scouts said he was the complete player in the draft. He played 28 games and scored 1 goal and 7 assists. worse # then Jake had in his first season. If he played top 6 minutes you think he would have had such a miserable season? I think people are just saying you can't judge Jake by his NHL # or the first 50 games of his time-me in Utica. This year was his own fault for not being prepared, and also the Gillis regime for having zero talent ready to make the jump to the big club, while biding their time in Utica waiting for the call and putting up huge numbers there. It's easy to look at Ehlers and Nylander and say well look at them they are killing Jake in points. Being A Jets fan and watching most of their games Ehlers yes he is super talented. He is also getting a huge roll surrounded by stars, and his D is not all that great. Nylander sucks on d and would get crushed playing out west. IMO If next year Jake is in Utica that will worry me, If he is in Utica and regresses that will really worry me.
-
yes I just posted that lol or Nico?? Maybe a Duchene or Hopkins? Via A Tanev or Sutter trade?
-
I think given his injury,. Plus being given garbage minutes in a year where he should have been in Junior, plus and this is on him not being prepared for training camp. All put him him behind a bit. This last half of the year he has taken strideds to fix what he could. As for the points, I know it is a very small sample size but when he played with actual NHL calibre players he looked like an NHL player Jake will never be the guy who drives the play, but I think if he is put next year with for example Goldy and if we get Nolan or Nico he will bury a lot of one timers and create space using his size. Cheers
