  1. Ya that's why the fans want them gone cuz they really play a complete game and show up in the playoffs. As for Jesse im pulling for him, but the fact he couldn't crack a nhl lineup with his pedigree is somewhat worrisome 8 goals in the NHL for A guy many scouts were saying was #2 in the draft, a few even had him #1 due to the fact he was A complete player on both sides of the ice and had a dominating world juniors When you get demoted that is regression plain and simple. As for lazy go on hf find a thread about him some have gone as far as calling him yak 2.0 Im not saying I agree. just saying he needs to work a little harder and start fitting in first step learning english.
  2. Actually, I do know how good klefbom is And if you read my post about all the D the Oilers passed over. I never said they were top of their class I said how good would they look in an Oilers uniform compared to some of their other picks. 28 points in the Ahl for A 3rd overall pick who some scouts had as # 2 hmm Laine 40 goals Mathews 40 goals both in the NHL Go on any Oilers chat site. They are already saying Jess is lazy refuses to learn English (even tho English is spoken by 58% of fins) and to quote an Oiler fan he looks lost without the puck and looks like its A grenade when he has it. The fact that he couldn't even earn a role on the bottom 6 is regression whether you want to admit it or not. ps Jake was played in A defensive role to learn to play A 200 foot game
  3. I agree about last year IM referring to his first year. as for tram Jake was in the minors the whole season I honestly think he missed hid bombshell wife. I think he will get her over here in time for next season, otherwise why only sign A one year deal.
  4. Not one of those guys ios going to get you a stud D RH and ebs have negative value Pulliarvi has regressed and there is talk of him being lazy and possibly they made A mistake. So tell Me who is going to get you that D the so obviously need. You did watch the playoffs right Without tabot that series is over in 5.Benson, you actually think A guy who had never played A game will magically get you atop4
  5. im talking about Jakes first season when he was in shape. Most teams give their 6th overall pick A bit of a leash to see what they got not benching him and sitting him on a constant basis wasn't the best way to go IMO And you are actually going to compare Chaput and megna who hardly tore up the AHL and are lot older and will never be NHL players pretty weak argument
  6. So of those 3 who do they move to get A # 1 D and your wrong Rielly as absolutely regarded as a top d and many gms including burkie you know the same guy who got us the twins nazzy burt to name a few would have taken Rielly #1 He only fell because of his injuries. Wee all those D i you mentioned from Nashville bpas I think not , but they sure look like it now and would look great on the oil As for TBL taking Drouin wasn't he the best player available? the exact kind of player you say to draft? kind of contradicting yourself aren't you?
  7. Had A feeling you were A seasons ticket holder for the Flames. Actually Jake did earn more ice time WD had A policy of playing the vets over young guys evenif they deserved it. Why do you think he is gone He was told to play the young players more and in his stubbornness, he played fringe players like Megna Chaput etc. Guys like Bo and baer succeeded in spite of Wd penchants for benching young kids in favour of older plugs
  8. Or maybe the oil could have selected a Murrey Reilly or numerous others who may have been off the board, but imagine having Hall in that lineup with A guy like Reilly or Murrey or Ellis or ek etc etc. That is asset management. not giving up you 2nd best player and 40 goal score for A one-dimensional shutdown D when you could have had your pick of all those d you just mntioned.. Oilers no longer have the assets to get A #1 d unless they trade drai They will waste McDavid's best years.
  9. Actually, he was the 2nd d Yak Murrey Chuckie and Reilly.. And before his injurie, there was talk of him being as high as 1st overall. My point is The Oilers needed a d way more than they needed yak. They passed up on Murrey too and in the end, it cost them their only good #1 pick besides McDavid in Hall As for Jake vs Ktchuck answer my question you really think he would have put up 48 points playing 8 minutes on the 4th line with no pp time? come on you can't want to be right so bad that your gonna deny the obvious advantages MT had over J And let's not forget MT is A dirty little cack sucker while Jake just bowls over players. reading others comments I would say you are in the minority when it comes to your opinion on not picking for needs. Unless its A generational player
  10. Guddy was traded in may not 4 months after the draft..JB had A list of who he wanted at 5 PLd or olli He drafted a future stiud 5 Who is ranked higher that Sergachev. Ktchuck is redundant given we have Jake. And if he played the top 6 minutes with the players Mt did plus play on the pp. He would have easily scored more than 13 goals. he had 7 playing barely 8 minutes A game with plugs when he wasn't in the press box or stapled to the bench. And all the D you brought up are not #1 d except maybe burns. who was switched from a forward. I'll buy what your selling when Karlson Doughty Werenski hit the open market. As others have pointed out taking the bpa is A flawed theory how the frack does anyone know who will be trhe best 5 years from now? Especially when picking 5 or higher? Its an educated guess at best. As for the Oiler bet they would rather have Riely over yak I'm sure there's more examples.Just too tired to look them up.
  11. What 3 D are you referring to Stecher was great but he a much different type of D than Olli plays A different side too. Larson was terrible Can't remember the 3rd D you talking about Guddy was pre draft and the rest were Utica callups iirc. I was thinking since the talent for centres isn;t clear cut If they draft A D this year Next years draft is gonna be hella deep Maybe if we don't land first or second and lose are chance on Dahlin or that Russian kid from the USHL maybe we package our pick for A stud centre like Reinhart or Mckinnon Next year's top 5 is gonna be worth their weight in gold. tho from what I've seen its mostly winger and Defence. If we draft Lilegren this year and he turn out to be A stud That might allow us to move the pick. Maybe were better off trading that pick for A stud centre . Unless there is one around where we are going to pick. That being said if we get top 2 no way in hell do we trade it unless we get 2 or 3 studs coming back Dahlin and the Ruskie are projected to be generational players who could play in the NHL right now. If anyone deserves to win the draft it's us and Colorado
  12. So you think A team that's loaded with elite forwards like Toronto should pick another forward even if there is an elite D available, but maybe doesn't project as high as said forward? The only way to acquire top D is through the draft. So, in that case, I'm picking the D-Look at the Oilers of past. Picked all projected elite forwards when what they needed were Defencemen. Look how that worked out for them. And yes I know Toronto isn't picking in the top 10 just an example. If I'm Benning I'm going with Neikas or Lilegren Both have elite talent and since their euros can go straight to Utica and maybe help us as soon as later this season or next season. All the rest of the picks around 5 are at least 3-4 years awayWe need someone to get excited about now not 4 years from now. Just curious who would you have drafted ove olli. WE don't need ktchuck Virt plays the same style without being dirty. Joust and Keller were reaches at 5 and I'm still not convinced on either of them. Small sample size but Brock had 4 goals in 9 games. The other 2 had zero points in their debuts last season. Olli was the BPA and he fit An organational need. I think in A couple of years were gonna be glad we drafted him.
  13. When he scored his first goal for us, It was the first time in awhile I actually felt like jumping out of my seat. I really hope he comes into camp and earns A spot. We need some exciting players. I don't worry too much about his D I'm sure he is working on it and it is something that can be taught. His offensive skillset and elite IQ can't.
  14. Good post. I think this is a better convo after next season. If he doesn't at least improve enough to at least make the team at some point this year, or god forbid regress then I think he will most likely be A Raffi Torres type. Who Btw Isn't such A bad thing like you pointed out. I just think with his shoulder, then being rushed and stuck on the 4th line and then coming into camp out of shape really set back his trajectory. Let's hope he has his head on straight and prove to the naysayers that he does have some hockey IQ. People on here tend to treat him like he is 25 and has had 6 NHL seasons of garbage. Just my 2 cents cheers.

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

Agree on no Eberle. Disagree on flipping Rodin if he excels isn't that exactly the ki9nd of player we need? I don't understand why people say let's develop a guy into a stud and then trade him for someone who may or may not even make the NHL.

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

could be lots of reasons. close to home for one. Maybe to hone his skills knowing that he might end up being a better player playing overseas getting top line minutes. seemed to work IMO since he looked legit when he played this year.

Rodin looked like a legit top 6 fought for the puck didn't float around. If healthy id love to give him a shot.

not being a fighter doesn't make someone soft. He doesn't float around he goes in and battles for the puck. Eberle is soft.
  19. These are the same people who freaked when we drafted BO and no Val. like you said he is one season removed from 30 goals and may very well get back to that. maybe a different system and consistent linemates will help. Even if he doesn't score 30 for us he is still a very good 2-way player and a good veteran presence
  20. Mono is A bitch and you are right it probably messed up his whole year trying to play catch up especially playing against men. Liljegren I think will be the stud of this draft. Bonus as well is he can start right away in the AHL and if proves it can be called anytime to fill in. Before he got sick one of the reports i read said he could probably play in the NHl his first year. Prolly won't happen but Eckblad did so did Chychurin to name A few so you never know.
  21. I'm all for him at 5. I like Reinhart and would love to have him. Just worry that Gran turns into his Brother, and baer ends up becoming the guy he was supposed to be. Also with Gaudette, we may already have our centre of the future to go along with Bo. Unlike most peopl I think Kane is on JBs radar. And since he is not going to be with the Sabres next year from what the talking heads say, and the fact he has stated he would love to play for his hometown team. I wonder if Buff would trade him for a 2nd and maybe A project prospect rather than losing him for nothing next year. If the Canucks do trade Edler (I hope not ) at least not until the TDL and only if he is having a really good season. Considering buff is weak on the left side I wonder if that could be the basis of A deal?
  22. I'll take A Ryan Ellis any day. One thing I've noticed in this years SCP is defence wins. Nashville is the new benchmark of what a successful team should look like. Great goaltending marky/Demko will hopefully be that. And great defence. If I'm JB I am drafting Liligren or Makar or heiskaneinan (sorry wrong spelling ) at 5 And if we end up with another mid-round pick im taking Foote or the fin from the dub who is 6,2 215 pounds and scored over a point per game. Someone, please fill his name for me my comp is on the fritz. I think our best way to acquire a top 2 centre is through a trade. I know Sakic said he wants to go young, and that's great. I still think Tanev would be a fit there we get Duchene they get Tanev + Then Sakic can go make a move for Barrie or johnson since all 3 are rumoured to be on the block. The only way I trade Tanev is due to the fact he will be wasting his prime years here instead of getting us a piece or to that will help us long term.
  23. Sad but true. I also mentioned this in another post but went back and watched a few games they have where they just show bits of it forget what it's called. What I noticed was most of Edler's mistakes were caused by his partner not clearing the zone taking Edler out of position, and on sloppy line changes where Edler would pinch and get caught cuz the twins or whoever decided to change. Last but not least most mistakes came in the 3rd where it is safe to assume he was at or over the 22-minute mark. There was a reason AV got the best out of his Swedes he managed their ice time Torts and WD IMO royally fuc*ed his game up. Hope Green watches more than just the pp from 2011
  24. ya go watch some of the Sweden games guys like you have zero clue. All he needs is fewer minutes and allowed to play the role that best suits him. How many times was he caught out of position cuz the twins made a quick change and left him out there to look like he was to blame. watch the games and learn about how certain things lead up to Edler taking the fall. There is A reason he hasn't been traded yet, and it isn't his NTC Like I said watch sweden play and tell me he should be exposed to save Sbisa (who I like) JB knows he needs to stop relying on Edler as A minute muncher. Sadly our D is young and injury prone and quite frankly sucks right now until the young guys get experience. Give Edler away for free what a joke.
