That’s the guy who couldn’t deliver a Cup.

Gotta disagree with you there. 1994 in game 7 he scored two goals with broken ribs. And under his leadership we lost the cup by one goal to a loaded Ranger team.  No we didn't win the cup, but to say he didn't deliver isn't fair.

  2. It might be more appropriate to judge this management group once training camp arrives. We'll know more about their direction then, as this offseason has just started, they still have a couple of months to make things happen.

I don't think we have enough info to judge JR/Alvin one way or the other right now.

I'd love that!  But will our owner allow any Miller trade, regardless of the return?  Even this return is taking us back a step.  I don't think our owner is going to allow any Miller deal.

Rutherford has been around the block a few times though, I doubt that he would let ownership interfere. IMO it's very likely he's insisted on full control in his contract.

  4. Unless Miller is adamant about wanting to leave the Canucks, then I don't see how we can trade him this year. I'm thinking that trading him at this year's trade deadline, with the team playing so well after getting rid of Green, would be a big gut-punch to the rest of the team by sending their best player packing. It's essentially a message from management saying that they don't believe in the team despite their high level of play this year, and I'm worried about the effect on morale.

If the Canucks don't go anywhere this year, and seem to be out of contention next year, then trade him at next year's deadline. If we get less assets in return, compared to what we would get this year, then so be it.

He'd hurt Edmonton even more; imagine McDiver trying to keep Kane under control.  I'd love to see him destroy their room even worse than their gutless floater of a captain already has.

I'd be a good reason for McDavid to ask for a trade, if he wants out of Edmonton. No one could blame McDavid for not wanting to play with that clown

A 33 year old OEL (he just turned 30, and will only be 35 when his contract finishes) will still be better than Chychscrub.  Can you say seven points and minus 30?

I don't want us to get Chyckrun either, as the price will be too high. But his +/- stats are misleading imo. Look at Sakic, his +/- was brutal in his first three years, but like Chyckrun he was on a terrible team as well.

The way this team is put together (Benning) is not as bad as it was deployed (Green).

Boudreau has fixed the deployment.  Even on D the guys are playing to their strengths now and all the D look better, even with 2 of our top 5 d-men injured.

Curious how much better this can get with a couple of tweaks from Rutherford.  I think he will see what I am seeing.  We are not strong enough on the puck, not heavy enough, don't hit enough, can't punish the opposition.  Both Carolina and Winnipeg leaned on us and got pressure from adding size and strength to the speed.

Rutherford will give Boudreau more toughness to mix in to this lineup.  I think that will help.

I agree, I wonder if we can pry Nick Ritchie for a reasonable price.

    A handful?
Whole lot of the people in this pic are wearing jerseys.      Sorry, but Canucks fans were involved.
    We have done this twice.

Lots of players have come out and said the fan base here is really…..tough.

Im sorry, but it’s true. We aren’t the classiest bunch out there.
That doesn’t have to include you.  I shouldn’t have to say this, but it seems you have been taking this personally.

    Yeah, a handful.

A small percentage of total Canucks fans were there, and of the total fans that were there, only a small percentage actually did any rioting.

Yeah yeah yeah.  We arent the only ones, so that makes us less disgusting right?   Nah.

You may be so sick of hearing it, but that doesn’t make it any less true.  Sure, there were a bunch of skids involved, but you can’t just turn a blind eye to the huge amount of fans in the riots.
The Orca was pretty much the team logo of the rioters.
TONS of jerseys in the riots that night.

The actions of a few morons doesn't encompass the majority of the fanbase, anyone capable of discernment can see that.

To be honest Kane would be a good fit here for him as we need that toughness on the ice and he can score, hit, and fight!!!

Don't you all agree we are still lacking toughness out there?

We definitely need toughness, but Kane isn't the answer. Last thing we need is to throw a variable like Kane into the dressing room while they're trying to figure it out with a new coach., too much can go wrong.

Green ... guys been coaching and also has GM experience as well since 2008.   He wasn't a special player but did play in a very tough era, and had a very decent NHL career.   Then he went back to his roots as an assistant coach/GM.   After years of that he eventually got his shot at the head coaching job and completely turned his team around and went on an epic run.   This didn't go unnoticed, and his hard work got him the Utica job.   Pretty much did the same thing with an underwhelming roster aside from Markstrom.   Point is he's not an "inexperienced coach"....or even and inexperienced NHL coach anymore.   And absolutely will get another job after this one.   I 100% agree this is mostly on JB.   Gadjovich isn't going to make us win a lot of these one goal losses this season .... that's on Green.   Travis Green wasn't just an early adopter but an actual pioneer on the idea of zone entries and exits.   I bet most on this site aren't even aware of this but have brought it up a few times.   Well before it was a "stat" that was factored in,  Travis and his staff would spend the time with pencils to record it.    Now it is a "thing". When he was hired JB and crew did their due diligence, and found out he was arguably the hardest working coach in the entire AHL.    Constantly trying to both improve his team but also looking for an edge.

See so much vitriol on this site over Green.   He does make in game moves that sometimes work sometimes don't.  But as far as his credentials go - he's 100% put his time in and done it the right way, nothing was "gifted".    He's not Patrick Roy or Wayne Gretzky.  Or Larry Robinson or even Paul McLean.   As in a former player that was bored and just decided he wanted to coach.   He's a legitimate coach.   I agree with Button. And also it's not Green that is holding EP/BB/PK back.    I'd say it's even odds those some of those  things sort themselves out before he is fired.

It might not even be an issue of whether he's a good coach or not, maybe he's just lost the room. The majority of head coaches in the NHL seem to have an expiry date with teams, and maybe Green has just reached his with the Canucks.

Yes they are.  Absolutely.   But it doesn't need to include some of the language.   It's obvious the players are still trying, lose another close game but garbage this garbage that and it's been 8 long years blah blah blah.  Well it's going to take a while longer yet.   I for one, won't stop cheering for them.    And these are human beings.

Fair enough, I see where you're coming from. I don't enjoy the "garbage team" posts either. But at the same time it's the nature of the beast, some fans are just angrier than others.

Wouldn't think that the way some posters "vent".   Same with JB.   The way both have been treated is absolutely shameful on this site, as well as some players.

Going to the game on Wednesday, and i'm going down to the bench pre-game and going to thank Green personally for his efforts.   And the guys too.   Being a fan or stakeholder comes with responsibility too.  The vitriol on this site is something else when we lose .. lose and even win sometimes.   He's still a Canuck same with everyone else on the bench.   Where is the empathy?   All gone.   Win win win win win win win win.   If you can't stand the opposite of that, enjoy your new team but don't come crawling back when we finally do have a contender again without some serious penance.   Same with the rest of you.   And by the way, odds are that isn't going to happen until 2030 or something.   With 32 teams we should expect each contender cycle takes about that long now on "average".

If people are making personal attacks on members of the organization, whether it be the players, coach, or gm, then I agree with you. I've already said that some comments made on here are over the top.

But criticism relating to their performance this season are entirely warranted. This is professional sports, and results matter. And fans are allowed to voice their criticisms should the team perform below expectations.

    Totally.

However it's the same $@$_ recycled game after game.

I thought we had made some good trades, brought some good players in to bolster our team.... just like many posters had.

Now many of those same posters are whining like it's the end of the world.

Are you a professional athlete ?

Do you know what it takes to even be playing at this level.

The sacrifices these players and their families made as they were growing up just to get the opportunity to play in the NHL and a bunch of keyboard warriors abuse them ?

I think Green should go to however the hate I see that is directed at him is shameful.

I get your point, and it's a good one. Some posts are definitely over the top.

However, with some people on these boards being so emotionally invested in the Canucks, venting is to be expected, especially with this team performing far below expectations.

I want Green gone, I don't think he's a good coach, but I don't hate him. I would hazard a guess that in all of Canuckville, there are very, very few fans that actually legitimately hate him.
