Yes he did look tired. Go back to my post(s) at the time where I said "everyone" was outworking him and looking better than he was. Reading your posts, it seems to me you think the GM and the Coaches deal in certainties and yet you haven't a clue what the coaches and trainers ACTUALLY see. You make the same mistakes people like Botchford makes and what you can't possibly know, you seem to make up. Of course Benning is going to say if a young player performs well enough, he will make a space for him in the team. That is, if nothing else, to give an incentive to these young players to work hard and pay attention to the coaches. However "performing" is not just what YOU see on the ice, there are all manner of criteria that goes into gauging performance, a lot of which we are not privy to. You also seem to think that a team can be packed with prospects and it will do well. Of course it won't, can you name one team where that is true? The vets are signed to ensure the prospects are guided, protected, and allowed to perform with players who have the experience to shelter them when required. These youngsters are helped by the vets, in order to maintain their confidence to produce what they are capable of producing and not be dragged down by line mates who may lack experience. Lastly, you seem to think the NHL is a pub league where results don't matter, where coaches actually don't care if they win or lose and GM's are happy to be fired. This is a results driven business and not a "development league" where teams flood their roster with prospects and let them work out their weaknesses as they go along. All players are not equal and players like Beagle and Gagner have years of experience earned at the cutting edge. Because of that they will have their mistakes and poor games often ignored because the coach knows that they will not let it affect their confidence and they will bounce back the next game - so the chances are that even if a prospect is doing well he would have to be performing exceptionally well ON AND OFF the ice to replace a vet. And that is how it should be because prospects can always benefit from extra time in the AHL honing their abilities. It should also be appreciated that how these players react to having to wait a little longer is a sign of their character and will be noted. By the way, just because a young player scores a goal does not wipe out the rest of his performance, you should realise that. If you don't you should wind your neck in a bit when it comes to criticising management and coaches.

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread
alfstonker replied to stonecoldstevebernier's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
The difference is half the people at Abbotsford would be the "new shiny toy / what have you done lately" self entitled p----s you get going (or at present not going) to watch the Canucks. Utica is a steeped in tradition, blue collar, hockey town where they know Rome wasn't built in a day but turn up anyway. What do the young boys need 6,000 sitting waiting for the first sign of a let down or 4,000 hockey fanatics who are there because they love their team and don't give a f---k? Vancouver means little to Utica but the Comets are THEIR team. I would be upset if we deprived such a place of their "sporting romance" just to bring it to a place like Abbotsford. If they had really been into hockey they would have turned out for the Calgary youngsters. The Comets' franchise, one of the oldest professional hockey franchises in existence, dates back to 1932, when the team was known as the Quebec Beavers. In 1935, the franchise moved to Springfield and became the Indians, reviving the name after the original Indians franchise ceased operations during the 1932–33 Canadian-American Hockey League season. In addition to the Indians, the team has been known as the Syracuse Warriors, Springfield Kings, Worcester IceCats and then the Peoria Rivermen. The Rivermen franchise was purchased by Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CS&E), owners of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Vancouver Canucks, in a deal announced on March 29, 2013, and approved by the American Hockey League (AHL) on April 18.[2] -
There comes a time in some threads where you realise what is coming back bears no relation to the topic but is symptomatic of something more personal. At that point it is best to call it a day. So have a good one Sam.

For someone who couldn't care less, your mentioning of WD goes on.....and on.......and on......and on........You are frankly beginning to embarrass yourself with it now. I have never said Tryamkin was a "bad apple" (as for Robb how many times does he have to deny it?) Jeez what is it with you zealots that you have to mis-quote anyone who is not filled with your Kool-aid as having a down on him. "Like you Rob, I would love to see a fit and motivated Tryamkin back in a Canucks jersey but somehow I don't see it." WTF does that say I think he is a bad apple. If I thought that I wouldn't want him back. You know me well enough to know that's true. If I didn't like a player I wouldn't want him here. I'm not keen on his maturity level, I'm not keen on his apparent self entitlement, I'm not very keen on his apparent refusal to follow coach's instructions - BUT that doesn't make him a "bad apple" As for "positives" and this is where you need to calm down, there are NO positives as long as he is over there and not in a Canuck jersey.
-
Because he has a thorn in his butt about WD. What other explanation can there be. Like you Robb, I would love to see a fit and motivated Tryamkin back in a Canucks jersey but somehow I don't see it.

Don't strain your single brain cell. You haven't the intellect to keep up.

Most of this is just made up BS. Sorry SID but can we be clear, this is a pro sportsman we are talking about? Why did he turn up out of shape? Is there a rule somewhere in the coach's handbook that says just because a player gets 20mins one night, he has to get 20mins the following night? How do you know he was doing everything the coaches were asking of him? How do you know it was out of nowhere? How do you know the coaches were happy? How do you know his team mates trusted him? Did he have A REAL IMPACT on the games? How do you know he always did what the coaches wanted? You admit he made mistakes? Why would the team NOT be unhappy with you, turning up out of shape. I gave up after this as it is all just subjective BS and dime novel writing. Tryamkin played on the right, the same side as Gudbranson, Stecher, Tanev, Biega and Larsen. He was not "better" than the first three and arguably on performance not better than Biega either. That left Larsen who was being given a run of games by JB in order to find out if he was the puck moving D he was looking for. I fail to see where Tryamkin had a beef when he was getting 17mins as 5/6th place D and playing 66 out 82 games. - None of it stacks up, no matter how you look at it. Basically I think your piece is a bit melodramatic and if in any way accurate or justified would see Goldobin scurrying home as we speak. Nikita Zadorov (Colorado) 6'-5"@230lbs a FIRST round pick 16th o/a was playing 1minute more in his first full season (for Buffalo) then in his next season dropped within 12 secs of Tryamkin and he is still there, still working away.

Ah the straw man argument has surfaced when finally facing reality. This has nothing to do with the coach and everything to do with your obsession with the player, the coach and the player's own immaturity. Lidster was the D coach and as I have said Lidster would ultimately decide TOI, shift changes etc. WD would become involved when he felt that Tryamkin could do more to fulfil his potential and to help the team. It is strange how Hutton, a player who has had his TOI reduced and had to suffer healthy scratches on many an occasion has not had the same type of feverish ranting on his behalf. Is it because Hutton has taken it like a man and realised the coach has only the best intentions at heart for the player? Or is it that Hutton doesn't knock people on their backside and cream them into the boards. I suspect the latter. At the end of the day people like you have to face reality. 1. WD believed not in what Tryamkin was but what he could be. 2. Whether WD allocated minutes or Lidster did, it came down to the same thing. Young players had to work for what they got. That is the only way to be fair to the other young players who were prepared to work (Bo, Stetch) to vary their game (Baertschi Gaunce) 3. If Tryamkin wanted more minutes he needed to firstly realise that the coach runs the team, that he needed to abandon this "victim attitude" and appreciate that none of the coaches were trying to destroy him or ask him to do something he couldn't do, just to do it more consistently. 4. He was NEVER asked to fight. That is a myth put about by "the butthurt" 5. Physicality is a state of mind, where it is a player's particular attribute, it needs to be deployed from the minute the player steps on the ice until he steps off it. That is what Chara does, Pronger, Byfuglien, Webber, Opik etc. WD was never against young players he was for making them work and improve themselves to justify being in the team. WD was not a great NHL coach (he did however take an ordinary team to 101 points the 5th highest Canucks total in the last 16years) but he did have a great CV and reputation for improving players and bringing out their potential. He understood that few young players, if any get very far in the game unless they understand and carry out their defensive responsibilities. Poor defense not only hurts the team but affects the performance of your team mates. That is why WD was hard on some players and most saw the light and elevated their game on the back of it.
-
WD has nothing to do with Tryamkins actions. He called WD "normal" while he said a coach who he didn't even know a "good guy(?)" How is that for BS? I'm afraid people like you and SS are so butthurt about Tryamkin's decision to leave you have to blame it on someone I guess. Was it not Lidster who ran and coached D? So does that not mean Lidster would ultimately decide TOI? It doesn't really matter, all most of us know is the Canucks "made" the player who went back to star in Russia. He must have also thought his improved game would warrant an Olympic place. (it must have been a shock when he wasn't selected - to his massive ego at least) Some people think that was actually one of the reasons that tilted him in favour of going back because he knew NHL players were excluded.
-
Well it breaks the monotony of Tryamkin apologetic threads. Jeez 235 pages and no sign of a return. As for me I can't wait to see how he will react to TG when Travis tells him to make Marchand's life a misery.
-
Aw jee imagine if that happened. It would prove without a doubt what many people have said about him. Unfortunately Jimbo (who I am a big fan of) was either firing Willie or himself - what would you do?
-
I think you make a valid point, this thread is covered with guys who might be better proposing to Tryamkin and declaring their undying love. The way I look at it, at least I'm not defending a flaky, self entitled, guy who felt the Club should run to his beck and call.
-
Ok, that's it, no more energy drinks for you.
-
Chara amassed 300 PIM in his first 3 seasons, Tryamkin whined about having to play physically, that's why WD asked him to view Pronger tapes
-
Bud you don't write some of the garbage you have written above and then say "Trust me" At 22/23 Chara was a fixture in the NHL Tryamkin was just coming into the league. Chara had also amassed almost 300 PIM
-
Wow I would address this but I wouldn't know where to start. I recommend you read my post above on WD's performance. Your second last sentence should embarrass you.
-
You've been out in the sun too much bud. For a start if you can't get up the Grouse in decent time you are not likely to command 10 mins never mind the 20 mins Tryamkin obviously thought he was worth. Just for your own education, don't confuse speed with stamina.
-
We know fine WD was TOLD to play Larsen so that JB could see what he had. We were desperate for a puck moving D and JB wanted to see if Larsen was the answer. This did no harm as Tryamkin thought he could treat the Canucks like a pub team, turn up out of condition, and still command a place in the team.
-
How many coaches reached the playoffs in their first season? Let's not confuse reality and re-write history. WD was a Calder Cup winner, he reached the playoffs with a massive 101 points in the hardest div/conference. Then the rug was jerked from under his feet and he was left to struggle with AHL level players, players not ready for the NHL and of course a massive injury list. In case no one noticed Green was given players by JB who amassed 127 points and yet he still only bettered WD's last season by FOUR POINTS Green had the same top 9 of Willie's points scorers PLUS.......... Boeser, Vanek and Gagner (127 additional points) The difference of only 4 points at the end of the season demonstrates what many of us on here believe. That WD was exceptional at getting the most out of the players available to him and running systems which took account of the standard of these players. That is not failure that is performing f------g miracles with a lot less.
-
Agree with all that and have said as much. I think Bo will be our fittest player although I actually think most of the roster will be knocking themselves out in the off season as it doesn't take a genius to see there is far more competition for places now than there has been for a long time. I imagine players like Motte, Leipsic, Gaunce, Jake, Hutton, Sautner, Stech, Pouliot, MDZ, Granlund and Gagner will be especially determined to show up lean mean and hungry.
-
You could be right. All I know is there is no way I would have gone as quietly as he did, given everyone could see that JB and Linden's inexperience shafted him. You don't go from 101 points (2nd in the pacific) to 75 points unless the GM is asleep at the wheel. Let's face it if Willie had been given the roster Green got last season, does anyone really think he would have failed to match 73 points. That was only 4 points better than the season WD was fired and 2 points less than WD's 2nd season. And I say that as a supporter of Jimbo. I'm not unhappy with Green I like the job he is doing and I think he is going to do well for us but I hate the amount of sh-t that gets heaped on WD on here.

Which when translated to English means what exactly?

Feel free RZ. Off course none of it is meant to be taken seriously. Many of the people I say these kind of things to, I actually like and have time for.
-
Except most people saw his stamina was on the limit at 16 mins.
