  1. I see you are in "talking rubbish" mode already. Doesn't the stupid side of your brain have an off season?
  2. Apparently the Hawks are interested in Gagner, so we shouldn't waive him just yet
  3. WD played him because he was fast, was a hard worker and helped suppress the opposition - but ultimately because that was all Jimbo gave him. Willie paid the price for Jimbo's "schooling" (i.e. don't get caught with FA in the "cupboard") and Green has benefitted from that schooling. Willie, let's remember took the team Tortorella crapped the bed with (with two or three new faces) to the Playoffs with 101points - THAT was the calibre of the man, NOT his performances when the team was weakened, where he was asked to use 8 players with little or no NHL experience including prospects who hadn't even played against men before. Nevertheless HE COACHED THESE BOYS THE RIGHT WAY, including Tryamkin who went back to Russia fitter and better equipped than he had ever been and became a "star" in Russia. Fans like you will also appreciate how hard it is to win the Calder Cup what with call ups and injuries yet Desjardins did it with a Texas Stars roster that looks like a "who's who" of absolute nobodies. Don't misunderstand me, I realise you are not getting at him but it makes me sick how disrespectful our fans have been to WD.
  4. Man the Rodgers DJ is going to be spoiled for choice. WOO WOO!!!! Do the WOO WOO!!! Do the WOO WOO WOO!!!!
  5. True and like RR he never backed down to anyone. Above all though he could play and I knew that before he came here because I often watched him play for NYR. Sometimes you don't appreciate how important someone is until they are gone.
  6. Dorsett put him in his place. There is no way they are equal imo.
  7. Agree with this. I actually think Sutter would be a good center for EP because Sutter has a "line" and I doubt he would allow EP to be bullied.
  8. "Canucks fans a little bit disappointed" Really? Was there any reason for something so minor to be mentioned. The fans who think like that just don't understand firstly the guy's state of health and secondly that it's just a scrimmage. FM!!! This is why I hate the Vancouver media. McIntyre educates them on it but what annoys me is, after these dolts bringing it up they then queue up to agree that it is silly to nit pick over a guy getting over an illness and STILL played pretty damned well. Interesting, from my June 23rd post in the draft thread. I wrote this in bold. Hughes would be the only exception to the above but I doubt he falls to us. He reminds me a bit of of what we might have with Jack Rathbone in his speed, skating and lateral agility."
  9. Errrrr no. Based on what. Dorsett hardly ever loses. I think he lost to Reeves and coincidentally Bieksa.
  10. I think you have Beagle mixed up with someone else. He got his lights put out about 8 years ago and hasn't really had any push back since never mind stepping in for someone else.
  11. We also have Lucas Jasek the Czech "cork" - no matter how far down he was buried he has managed to float to the top and had outstanding games with Utica. Am I the only one who thinks this guy is destined for middle 6 stardom in the NHL? Observations April 2018 – Jasek has been an absolute revelation since joining the Utica Comets. The former sixth round draft pick has compiled seven points in six AHL contests – six of which have come at even-strength. Utica will now begin their playoff matchup against the top seeded, Toronto Marlies and will need Jasek to continue his blistering pace. The Canucks have until June 1st 2019 to sign the Czech winger to an entry-level contract but with his performance thus far, it’s safe to assume that will happen sooner rather than later. It will be interesting to see if he returns to the Czech Republic next season or sticks in the AHL
  12. More remarkable given where we have come from. We were not just low in prospects we were in minus. Soon our fans will be able to regularly look at who we think is coming up after 2 years in the farm (the right way to develop in most cases) The best thing is it won't stop when we end up picking lower because we have a GM and scouting base that doesn't go by the numbers, they look for talent and character and find it at all levels.
  13. I wish he was coaching in the Canucks Org. Good luck Burr. Thanks for all the great memories.
  14. Woo seems to be a real leader on the ice. I like him.
  15. I found this on a Scottish history site. "Firstly, it is complete and utter nonsense that Mac and Mc indicate Scottish or Irish origins. They are both EXACTLY the same word, the Mc is actually the abbreviated form of Mac (and sometimes meic) and was usually written M'c (sometimes even M') with the apostrophe indicating that the name has been abbreviated (there are many other characters indicating abbreviation including two dots under the c). There is however one distinction you can make as far as differentiating between a name being Scottish or Irish. If it is an O' name it is always Irish (those in Scotland are mostly nineteenth century emigrations), but if it is a mac, mc or other variation it can be both Scottish or Irish!" I found this to be backed up by an ancestors site advising people searching for Mac to also search for Mc as the "a" was often dropped or both were used down through the years. Having said that, it's all a bit academic as I would always want to give someone the name they say they go by, otherwise it seems a good way to lose a friend.
  16. Thanks for clearing that up SID, I was a bit wasted by the time I got to MacMaster. They are in fact the same. Mc is just an abbreviation of Mac - however I also manage to get the boy's first name wrong so there is no excuse for me.
  17. Well spotted the M---Master I am referring to is Tanner (not Tyler jeez I must stay off the booze,) which should have been spelt MacMaster.
  18. Frankly it would be easier to say who didn't impress me. I can't remember a prospects game where so many players looked to have potential to progress. The game got off to a slow start dominated by Palmu but by the 2nd period nearly every player was in a groove. Great end to end game with imo all the goalies looking good, DIPietro and Theissen especially followed in order by Boes and Purboo. In the Blue D, Hughes, Plouffe, Poolman and Gunnarsson stood out. It was easy to see why the scouts were so impressed with Hughes but imo he is not quite ready yet for the NHL but what do I know. In the Blue forwards I actually thought all were decent after a quiet start but as time went on Soy, Lukosevicius, Copeland and McMaster impressed. Luko reminded me a bit of Jonah and seems to have the tools to do well starting in Utica. In the White D Rathbone confirmed what I said almost a year ago - he is a steal - for me he has all the makings of, in time, being our Drew Doughty. He has that speed and constant energy that wears opponents down while at the same time he seems to always have multiple options for his plays. Not far behind and in order were Woo, McFadden, Utunen and Prowse. In the White forwards Palmu was a standout, he has the type of competitiveness that probably doesn't allow him to lose to his baby sister. He has his eye on the prize and seems driven to achieve it - I think he will be in Vancouver in no time flat. Kole Lind stood out also but I wonder if there is not something missing in his game - a ruthlessness - time will tell. Rockwood looked impressive and I look forward to him and Lockwood in time, centred by Madden who was also impressive. I also liked Tanner MacMaster
  19. I thought his action was a bit stiff. He needs to loosen up a bit. I doubt it was fast. Edit, Just read your post SID and it seems we are in agreement.
  20. I like his attitude and the way he seems confident. I would like to see him do well in camp get signed and go to Utica.
  21. Yes that's what I was referring to. Schroeder also looked to have a bit go "fire" in Chicago but when he got up it was like he was awestruck.
  22. SID, Shink reminded me of Schroeder in that you could see he had everything needed but the "fire" just wasn't lit.
  23. I love the potential of JR. Every time I see a mention of him now I hear that lady commentator's warning, ringing in my ear, as he rips through her team's defence. "We have to keep the puck away from No 5"
  24. Totally agree with this. I struggle to see Shinkaruk there. I've been wrong before though.
