  1. There is something about this band that reminds me of St Etienne/Grandaddy. A bit of laid back French. Back to my Summer theme. Annuals, I love this band, surprised they are not more popular.
  2. Thanks Surfer, it is probably a split personality thing. So many of my musical tastes and opinions were gained from my older brothers.
  3. Another of my brothers records I grew up listening to. I really love the version done in Glasgow Scotland. Some bands just sound even better live. The lead guitarist was another talent lost to depression too young. Brilliant guitarist and performer. He knew how to light up an audience. Man we should transport this audience to Rodgers - "rent an atmosphere" How cool is the playing on this. Uttering ironic words to the audience "Stay Alive!"
  4. A couple from one of my favourite albums and favourite bands. This song is a bit disturbing while also being mesmerising as it seems to address abuse issues. Another track quoting violence but who can doubt Tweedy's mastery of lyrics when listening to this brilliant album. Anyone not familiar with Wilco should give this album a listen and also Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
  5. I love the irony of this song. A much underrated band. I always seem to categorise my tracks with the seasons. This is one is on my summer playlists Another one from their great album Four Cornered Night.
  6. I thought their whole piece was condescending and almost bordering on being racist. Two hacks stroking each other off.
  7. You said it. These guys are the worst Jackals of the Vancouver media. It's like they decided to try and out-dork each other.
  8. I want to hear it from his wife first. I very much doubt he will be playing more than 17mins under Green.
  9. Larsen was an an experiment, an attempt at a shortcut route to finding a puck moving D. WD was asked to play him constantly from the start by JB in order to properly assess him in NHL conditions. That is what GMs do and I don't expect WD was sad when Jimbo finally had seen enough and it was agreed that Larsen should be released to pursue a career in Europe/KHL.
  10. No they were not. That is your opinion and see no foundation for it.
  11. That's not what I saw there. Guddy was not on the ice and Try was looking for help - he got it.
  12. In effect two were though.
  13. What I liked there was how all Tryamkins team mates reacted quickly to make sure there was no ganging up on him - because that is/will be the tactic most teams would use if allowed. Well done to Higgy, Etem, Bo, Ben.
  14. I don't give a stuff about him fighting. He doesn't need to fight, he just has to use that massive advantage he has over most players to push them around and keep them out of the crease. He needs to be physical at every opportunity and consistently (that's what sickens the opposition, when you find you just don't have the body to compete)
  15. It wasn't part of play. It was scrapping. My point stands because that is no more than WD asked him to do.
  16. Let me tell you about the Walkmen, a band you either love or loathe. I love them for three reasons, firstly their featuring of a bar room piano is epic, secondly the guys voice is the vocal equivalent of Jimi Hendrix's guitar and thirdly as a band they are as tight as f---k. This encapsulates my New Years.
  17. From one of the best live albums ever made - My Morning Jacket - Okonokos. And if only I can remember the name of the f-----r that took it from my collection...... Jimmy James - rock legend.
  18. And yet according to Tryamkin himself it was something he didn't understand or want to do. WD NEVER asked him to fight by the way. (compare that with many of the hypocrites on here - including yourself who obviously take great pleasure in the fight videos while slating WD for wanting him to intimidate CONSISTENTLY) He asked him to be consistent - and yet despite the inconsistency WD still played him nearly 17mins a night.
  19. Except one glance through here and it is patently obvious why Tryamkin is so hyped. It has nothing to do with his play, he was not exceptional in any of the basics. It was his size and use of that size OCCASIONALLY to intimidate the opposition. Contrary to what is said on here, he did not read the play that well, he DID get drawn out of position quite often and his skating often looked laboured imo due to never being as fit as he could be. All that was acceptable though because he intimidated the opposition in a way Tanev and Stech were not equipped to do. However you have to get the whole package right and get the conditioning at it's peak to get the high minutes - if he comes back and does that he will have a case for his self entitlement. (something I never ever saw in Chris Tanev despite his early baptism into the 2011 playoff team and playing well)
  20. That is more a dim reflection of our drafting full stop. I also would not consider it proved that Tryamkin is better than Hutton or Brisebois. Who did he outshine? What exactly do you mean deployed him effectively? WD handled all the youngsters the same. Tryamkin WAS out of shape - exactly what message does playing an out of shape player send to the rest of the youngsters? The rest of that para is just nonsense as you have no idea how he was treated. You have no proof of any of that and I doubt from what we have seen from Green, Tryamkin will be "handled" any differently.
  21. Fine but then why blame everyone else. I distinctly remember one of the team say in an interview, he was a lot better with the language than he let on.
  22. You mean those NOT on Tryamkin dope. This thread is a hoot. Every time we have someone extolling the virtues of Tryamkin we see videos of him fighting, clearing the crease like Chara/Pronger, defending a player after a bad hit, standing up for himself. Not many videos mind but a few. I mention these videos because, these WERE his strengths. Ok he was a decent skater, pretty mobile and had a decent shot but so has half the Ds in the AHL. No it was his physical attributes and his ability to use them to intimidate the opposition that set him apart - in fact half the hypocrites who cream their pants on here about him are only obsessed because of his physicality, that is what will elevate him from a 6th/7th D to maybe a 2nd/3rd D .............. maybe. I point this out because that is exactly what WD and Lidster saw and that is why JB drafted him. Yet when WD asked him to be more consistent with his physicality ie use it like Chara, Hedman, Byfuglian, Burns, Weber. ie an NHL professional D, he whinnied like a rogered mare and acted like the coach had asked him to commit murder. As I say, Green will have his number and if he ever comes back it better be with less attitude and more diligence and willingness to use the one god given gift that makes him a bit special CONSISTENTLY. I think it is already too late for him because after the next 2 drafts I expect our D prospects to be already stacked.
  23. That would be a wonderful reply if he had chosen to keep his end of the bargain and show up in condition to play.
